Speedy deletion

Hi there Camw!

I noticed that you tagged a few seemingly uncontroversial deletion candidates for speedy deletion. Is there any reason in particular you did not simply delete those pages yourself, seeing as how you are apparently an administrator in good standing? Regards, decltype (talk) 13:53, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this is in fact common practice. Whether it should be a requirement for administrators to tag a page rather than delete it on sight when it is a speedy candidate has been a subject of extensive discussion at WT:CSD, but currently there is no consensus to make this a policy requirement. That said, tagging is a viable option if you are unsure, and would like the page to be reviewed by another administrator. Regards, decltype (talk) 14:07, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Happy to help! In the unlikely event that there is something else I can help you with, do not hesitate to ask. Regards, decltype (talk) 14:21, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion 2

Hi there Camw!

I don't actually know what the {hangon} field refers to in relation to speedy deletion (of UCD Fencing Club, but I would like to get an opportunity to defend the aticle, prior to its ending up in deletion wiki. Naturally, I can't just delete the tag, as I created the page.--AnAbsolutelyOriginalUsername42 (talk) 17:38, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Will reply on your talk page. Camw (talk) 22:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I would appreciate if you do that move that you mentioned, if you still can. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AnAbsolutelyOriginalUsername42 (talkcontribs) 10:39, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi, done. Camw (talk) 16:09, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Any chance of a link? --AnAbsolutelyOriginalUsername42 (talk) 18:47, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

It was in the first message, but I've posted it again on your talk page. Camw (talk) 18:56, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Could Speedy deletion be removed from Edwin Everett Jacques

Please see Talk:Edwin_Everett_Jacques for a sec and reply there. I would leave it to you to remove the "speedy deletion" banner. Thank you for your time! sulmues (talk)--Sulmues 22:16, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, another administrator has reviewed the article before I saw this message and agreed to delete it again. The article needs significant improvement in meeting the WP:N notability guidelines and it would be best to work on this in your user space before moving it back to main space. Let me know if you want me to restore it to your user space. Camw (talk) 01:29, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Possible Featured Pictures

Hi, I came across your photos and thought some of them were pretty good and probably good enough to be a featured picture. We're sadly lacking in good quality portraits/sports action photography and I think they would be welcomed (just as long as you also brace for potential criticism - we can be a bit anal when it comes to techinical quality etc!). But if you were interested and your ego can handle potential bruising, I'd recommend you find a couple of your favourites/most encyclopaedic photos and nominate them at Featured Picture Candidates. If you aren't sure how to nominate or wanted to run them by me, I'm more than happy to give you some advice. Ðiliff «» (Talk) 14:35, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Invitation

I noted your restoration of this disruptive and abusive edit.[1] There are several dozen more articles which were deleted. The issue is now at arbcom, and the admin is self-indefinitely banned.

Can you restore all of the deleted articles, from 22:54, 20 January 2010? [2] If not, could you WP:incubate them or userfy them for me? I will work on everyone.

I could create move shortcuts for you too. If you would rather not have these in main space.

Hi Ikip, not sure if you are still around based on your user talk page message about scrambling your password - so I'd assume you wouldn't be working on them if they were restored or userfied, or are you working with a different account now? Camw (talk) 15:20, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, just read the arbcom motion, I suppose that may be why you scrambled your password. Camw (talk) 15:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
I found a loop hole, and emailed myself my password. I have been arguing on Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people where editors who held consensus in "utter contempt" yesterday are now hypocritically trying to build consensus that support their views today.
Please do one of the three to those articles, (restore, incubate, or to my user space, preferably one of the first two) I hope I made it as easy as possible for you. I can create clickable moves, where it will automatically move from mainspace to userspace in one click. I can do that myself if needed. Ikip 22:24, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Good to hear you are still around. Based on the arbcom motion I don't think a mass restore would go down well, it seems certain editors/administrators are more equal than others when it comes to following those pesky rules (such as community consensus). What if I were to userfy 10 to you and I'll take 10 as well and see how we go? Camw (talk) 22:48, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Link

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Why have you deleted the link? Austingh (talk) 03:33, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I'll reply on your talk page. Camw (talk) 03:34, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

The link which was removed was not spam link and neither was it about advertising. If you had observed the link purposefully, you would have noticed that it contained information pertaining to personal assistant. You have removed two vital links which were added to this wiki for no apparent reason at all. Choicehow is not a spam weblog. Thank you!Austingh (talk) 03:39, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I did observe the links and have replied on your talk page. Camw (talk) 03:48, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't have to waste my time on this wiki anyway. It's only generating nofollow links! Already, our articles are above your weak ones in search engine results. Obviously, a public domain cannot be venerative than a weblog which is copyrighted.Austingh (talk) 04:02, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Melbourne Heart reverts

Hi, just noticed the reverts on the Melbourne Heart page. I generally agree that such a link shouldn't appear on the website. I made a comment as such on the the talk page and suggested a way around the issue. I think the article is generally looking really good and I often have a look at it out of interest as I'm doing a lot of work on the Melbourne Rebels page and feel that there are things that I can pick up from the Heart page. I think that Melbheartfc is either a die-hard fan acting in good faith, or a die-hard fan on a blog-seeding mission gone awry! I'd suggest a more encouraging approach than a straight-out policy slapdown at the moment, but if he/she continues in the face of you acting in good faith you'll have my support in pulling him/her into line. Regards, Paul.
Paul Roberton (talk) 14:49, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I'll get in his/her ear and help write something suitable. In the meantime, wander over to the melbourne rectangular stadium talk page... I'm trying to bring a unified approach to the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium- they're already bickering about nicknames for the ground and it's not even open yet! Paul. Paul Roberton (talk) 15:03, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Well I believe I've done everything to I can to assuage the person in question. I've more or less done the job for him/her. If they can't find some room for cooperation in that we can cut him off at the knees! My sample text is on the talkpage. If you feel it needs some polish go right ahead. Regards,Paul(talk).

BLP sticky PROD

Hi Camw/Archives/2010/January - April!. Every attempt to rescue a Wikipedia article is a noble gesture. However, there may be occasions when, with the best will in the world, it is just not possible to accord even a minimum of notability to an article or stub, or find a proper source for it. Most regrettably, even the most dedicated inclusionists will have to concede that the article may have to go if the creator or major contributors cannot justify their work.
For new and recent unsourced BLPs, some users are now working at WT:BLP PROD TPL on the development of templates that are designed to encourage contributors to source new BLPs, without scaring away the newbies who might not be aware of the rules. This template is certainly not another a licence to kill for the deletionists, in fact the very idea of it is to ensure that you are not fighting a losing battle. It would be great if you could look in at the prgogress and maybe leave a word of encouragement. The workshop page is essentially a template development taskforce, and is not a place to engage in a hefty debate on incusion/deletion policy. See you at WT:BLP PROD TPL?--Kudpung (talk) 12:31, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I just assumed he was born in Sydney. I'll take off the info Blackjanedavey (talk) 01:00, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

I added the Championship to his honours. He was awarded a championship medal at the grand final ceremony, so he did actually "win it", even though he didn't play. Blackjanedavey (talk) 03:33, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry (again) misread the history page. Anyway just saying in case it's changed. Blackjanedavey (talk) 04:30, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Simon Colosimo

To clear things up about transfers etc, would you happen to know what's going on. Has he offically been released by Sydney FC, or is he still contracted and trying to find a loan or has he been signed by Melbourne Heart. I have 2 conflicting news articles from a couple of weeks ago - one telling me he had signed on loan with FC Seoul, and another telling me Melbourne Heart had signed him. It seems nobody - the media and Colosimo himself has no clue what on earth is going on. Nath1991 (talk) 05:37, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Ah, OK. So on the 2010-11 SFC season page, shall i just list him as a free agent. I did have him down as going to FC Seoul as that seemed the most recent article - but the Age in Melbourne has an article - the only article i can find, on him signing with Heart along with Bolton, and he's down on the transfer page of the 2010-11 A-League season as well as Melbourne Hearts page as being officially signed. It's just quite confusing. Nath1991 (talk) 05:57, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

De-orphaning of Mongoose (cricket bat)

Hi,

In this edit you removed the {{orphan}} tag from the Mongoose (cricket bat) article. As far as I can tell, only three articles currently link to this page. Why did you remove the tag? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 23:51, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
