From Prof. McL Sopocani: Overall Cameron it's great to see the additions you've made to the Sopocani entry, it has much more extensive coverage of the frescoes now. That said, as you revise, here are a few elements to consider: the initial section on the influence of early Byzantine art could be moved later. While the early Byz. influence is interesting and worth mentioning, it is also limited in scope--the frescoes are mostly famous as monuments of later Byzantine painting. the main change though will come as you deepen your research, it's not 100% clear that you read the feedback on the bibliography. No need to repeat myself, but please go back and look at those suggestions and if you have questions afterwards please email me. As you find more specific, better sources on your topic, I bet you'll reconsider some of the points you make and might even have a few additional details to add. You're doing a great job though of using Wikipedia, and I see appropriate links, use of their citation tool, etc.

Cameron,

I thought your additions on this project assisted significantly in approaching the importance and function of the artwork occupying the Sopocani. I felt its relation to our course material was very evident and applied really well. What I found specifically interesting was your reference to the symbolism in the function of how the use of hands were applied and, further, gendered. I was not aware of this application and now being able to look back at other Byzantine works with this notion can expand my visual understanding of the medium. Further, areas where I felt could use a little more elaboration was your discussion on the influence of classical art stating "The classical art style of the church is influenced by late Byzantine art, such as that of the Basilica of San Vitale and other Byzantine churches." It ends a little brief with the provision of one example. If you were able to provide another one I think it would allow for a stronger foundation. Additionally, I wasn't entirely clear on whether the artists you reference in your PAINTING section were Byzantine or Serbian after the first sentence. When you include 'these artists' in the following lines I personally just wasn't clear as to which you were referencing. On a last note, I would just double check the placement of your citations as they go after the period. All in all you did a great job in organizing your pieces with the text and felt your segments were appropriate additions.

Bravo!
