Hi Caiaffa, you said at the AfD page for Trivela that you couldn't find any non visual sources for this. Could you take a look at these Google News results and see if any of them can be used as reliable sources? Peter Boyle

edit

Thanks for adding this article; I know that it does take some time to enter all those filmography details. It's great that all the Academy Award nominees for editing since 2000 now have at least stub articles!

I spent a little time trying to find a better source for Boyle's birthdate & birthplace than imdb, but didn't have any luck myself. Easchiff(talk) 05:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your kind words. I noted that there was another Peter Boyle, also in the Hollywood world to confuse the editors in wikilinks. I fixed a lot of wrong links. (Caiaffa (talk) 02:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC))
I'm guessing that you discovered that the "What links here" link in the toolbox on the left hand side of the page is useful for this! I also use the "gadget" (see "my preferences") called "navigation popups" to quickly check for incorrect links. Unfortunately, most people who enter the "infobox" for their film articles neglect to include the film's editor there. Editing is the "invisible art". Your edit at Elephantiasis

edit

I've reverted your edit at elephantiasis for accessibility reasons. The accessibility guideline says:

Avoid floating the table of contents if possible, as it breaks the standard look of pages. If you must use a floated TOC, put it below the lead section in the wiki markup for consistency. Users of screen readers expect the table of contents to follow the introductory text; they will also miss any text placed between the TOC and the first heading.

This is very important to me because as it says on my [User:Graham87|userpage]], I'm blind an use a [screen reader]]. Regards, Graham87 13:13, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yep that version is fine. Thanks for modifying it. When transferring pages to your userspace, it's a good idea to comment out the categories though - the page User:Caiaffa/test2 isn't a parasitic disease and userspace pages shouldn't be categorised in article categories. Also, there was no need to remove Image:Elephanti.jpg because it was freely licensed. The only images that are not allowed to be on user pages are non-free images, which either have a non-free use rationale or are in Category:All non-free media. All freely licensed images can be transferred to Wikimedia Commons. Graham87 00:30, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Caiaffa, thanks for your feedback on my article. I have altered the first paragraph to adhere to the guidelines. AWB edits of "forecasted"

edit

I've reverted this edit; "Forecasted" is not a typo. It's certainly the less common form, especially in American English (less so British English), but is acceptable in both. I think a blanket attempt to purge the word from WP wherever you find it would not be a good idea. Regards, --DeLarge (talk) 22:36, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: I see it was listed at Wikipedia:Lists of common misspellings/F. I've removed it for now. It's funny, but older versions of American and British English Differences actually list "forecasted" as a regional variant (see here). Regards, --DeLarge (talk) 22:48, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cheers for response.
I see it in both the Cambridge Online Dictionary ("verb [T] forecast or forecasted, forecast or forecasted") and Dictionary.com ("verb, -cast or -cast·ed"). It's even in the American Merriam-Webster dictionary ("Inflected Form(s): forecast also fore·cast·ed; fore·cast·ing").
I have seen the occasional website which criticizes its usage (e.g. grammardoctor.com), and some online forums where people have opined strongly that it's "wrong". Nevertheless I would consider the dictionaries above (and the British news sources below), to be more reliable arbiters.
Hope this helps clarify things. Regards, --DeLarge (talk) 08:07, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

galagedara

there are no six galagedera(not "gelagedara" as you wrote to me) in sri lanka.the correct article is there in Category:Cities, towns and villages in Sri Lanka#Galagedara, Central Province.could please look into matter.--Chanakal (talk) 15:46, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

caiaffa, those galagedaras are missplaced locations on the map.the only galagedara is Galagedara, Central Province. i'm saying this because two of these galagedaras placed Kurunagala-Kandy Road, where actual Galagedara, Central Province is situated. the Galagedara, Western Province i never heard of it. gedera is alternative way of writing gedara which means "house" in sinhalese.eg.Chamara Kapugedera.thank you --Chanakal (talk) 16:22, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

i found a map to emphasize my point. type galagedara.thank you.--Chanakal (talk) 16:58, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Galagedara, Central Province is the correct one. all the galagedaras in North Western Province, Sri Lanka are misplacings of adjacent Galagedara, Central Province.Galagedara, Western Province is not a notable place.but there is an electorate called galagedara.thank you.--Chanakal (talk) 17:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
as you asked me i posted a request in Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests#galagedara to remove duplicates and leave the correct Galagedara, Central Province.and hope you will support my demand.thank you for assistance!--Chanakal (talk) 07:27, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
i checked the links you provided.i counld't believe it either and i think it's unreliable because if the galagedara in western province has 423,000 it would be the 2nd largest city in the country which i need not to tell you is down right incorrect.furthermore galagedara central province not have an urban council which need to qualify as a city in sri lanka.see List of cities in Sri Lanka.I estimate it could have only 5,000-10,000 pop.best thing to do is i think is retain Galagedara, Central Province and remove others. other unnoticeable galagedaras can have a mention that article saying there are can be many villages called galagedara but noticeable "town" is Galagedara, Central Province.what do you think--Chanakal (talk) 14:40, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

The pages of Maria Esther Bueno, who has 19 Grand Slam titles and Margaret Court, who has 24, informs that "This player has no Grand Slam Activity". If you don't have capacity to inform, at least remove the wrong information. It's not a blog, it is the WTA site, you have responsibility with the people who use your site.

Re: Feedback regarding: Web Content Issues

You are correct about the incomplete data. We are in the process of trying to improve it for our historical players, in which a lot of the statistical information is hard to come by. But yes, removing the data in the meantime may be the way to go. Thanks for your comment.

Caiaffa (talk) 02:20, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Gees, just because one part of the page has no info one can click to "activities" on the tab. No problem for me. You must be looking under "stats" which is year to date stuff and of course there is no info. I click to here for Bueno: [[1]] and to here for Court: [[2]] and find a wealth of info. The WTA and ATP sites have errors all over and good info all over. One just needs to look at the tabs and click on them. Fyunck(click) (talk) 03:06, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
