Go Seigen edit

I have gone back and put back my edit. There appear to be a few things we do not agree on, but here is my two cents: First of all, the ordering of surname and first name should be along the lines of Asian tradition in order to show proper respect to the individuals whose names are mentioned. Having studied East Asian culture and interacted with quite a number of people native in Korea, Japan, and China, I have found that they all prefer to have their names, when appearing in Western literature, ordered with last names first. It is quite disrespectful to have their given names appear before their last names. If Wikipedia has a particular policy dictates otherwise, well, it is simply WRONG. If you read Japanese or Chinese, which I do, you would find that Japanese and Chinese sections of Wikipedia honor the Western tradition of ordering first and last names (i.e. first names first, last names last).

I agree on how the names should be that way. The articles for those players were that way when I created them, but since Wikipedia instilled this new policy, they must be listed this way on Wikipedia.

Second, Go Seigen's affliation should be "honorary member of the Nihon Ki-in", NOT "retired". It does NOT make any sense to state one's affliation as "retired". That is NOT the definition of the word "affliation". Thus, to indicate that Go Seigen is currently retired, it must be assigned to the category of "status".

I had not included this because I was incorporating the set template. My mistake.

Third, you added that Hashimoto Utaro would go on to found Kansai Kiin in the section listing Go Seigen's jubango opponents. This simply is NOT needed, as the entry focuses on Go Seigen, and should you feel you want to inform readers of Mr. Hasimoto's achievements, it should be added to his respective Wiki entry.

The reason I listed that is because it adds light to the fact that at the time, Utaro was a respectable go player and that Go Seigen defeating him was a noted achievement.

Lastly, it is convenient for the readers to have links to the various concepts and names mentioned in the article. This is simply good sense.

It is convienent, but especially with a long article like that, extra links leads to extra loading times. Not everyone has a fast connection, and I would doubt anyone would want to wait longer just for a few more links. Can 03:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:9Ppromotion.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:9Ppromotion.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lupo 07:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are continuing to edit war at Go Seigen. Wikipedia does not accept edits that are just personal opinions. You are in breach of basic policies by insisting on inserting your views. Only factual matters and comments quoted from others are acceptable. You have been making edits that endanger your status as editor here: removing references in the Shusai article, and using inflammatory comments as edit summaries. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GovsShusai.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:GovsShusai.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Image Copyright problem

Hi By78!
We thank you for uploading Image:My Go Equipment 2.JPG, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Image change at Go (board game) edit

Hi By78,

You have recently changed the image at Go (board game). I have started a section on that at Talk:Go_(board_game)#New_image_for_the_article. I have discussed pros and cons of both images there, and have asked whether you would be willing to make a new photo with some of the cons in the current one fixed. Please respond over there. I read your comments at Talk:Go (board game)‎ and would strongly advise you to comment on only on content and avoid making what are seen as personal attacks on other contributors. The combative and aggressive tone of your posts is not acceptable. Tim Vickers (talk) 21:21, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Arjun MBT - Edit war? edit

Hello. I noticed that you and Chanakyathegreat use to revert each other's edit on this article, actually you are even accusing Chanakythegreat of vandalism for putting up referenced material. I find this a bit unfortunate since it doesn't help the article and from what I've read, you both seem to agree that there are several problems with the development of the Arjun, so why can't you just work together? Why are you vandalising the Arjun MBT page edit

I had a lot of patience and had not reported you to Admins. Now I had done it. Why you instantly revert without any concern for accuracy of the article.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 02:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jauerback was an irresponsible Admin, who himself acted in support of vandalism. I had not reported him to violation by an Administrator. He just said I don't care about the content. If the Admins are not taking care about the content, then it will be really bad for Wikipedia. Now tell me which is outdated information. I had only added information after the report submission by the army and the trial conducted after this. What problem you have with it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Man if you are interested in the correctness of the article and want to contribute in a positive manner, I welcome it. After vandalizing the article and then accusing the other by saying you pushing your agenda, I don't argue with you is not worth it. Such things has no meaning. The only criteria is correctness of the articles. If you are interested you can contribute in a positive manner.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Arjun MBT page edit

The real reason for the incorrect version existence and you being able to insert stuff that are wrong is just because the Admins are hostile towards me and not sticking to rules. You cannot answer/prove simple questions being asked and still able to edit the Arjun MBT page because of the Admins (They have still not understood the issue properly or directly take sides). I can wait. No hurry.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:08, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

You have not replied.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 15:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't want to force anything of my own. It's left to the Admins to decide which wording they use. The only thing that I asked is instead of saying HM Singh said so, it must be that the Army report says so. The wording can be anything like From the report submitted by the Indian Army it says.. or The Indian Army report on the trial states... etc. It's left to them, i don't have any problem with the wording, only asking the content to be correct. The third link becomes useless because the reporter writes in contrary to the Army report and the Ministry of defence report. Hence it need to be removed. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 04:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I again say, i am not forcing anything on them. The Admins have the freedom. I will not complain about the wording. Only asking to remove the errors in that section. If they want the draft for the section to be provided by me, I am ready to provide it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 08:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are talking about the wording and not about informing the Admins about the edit. I did inform them and it was not unilateral. I made an entry into the talk page in 8th October 2008 in which I clearly explained what I expected the Admins to do to remove the errors in the section. Then asked about the opinion of the Admins by posting the request in their talk page. Not once but repeatedly. Has not received a response until now about what I had requested them. The Admins did act in a unilateral manner and blocked me. Their attitude has not changed. Even now they had not responded to my request. It's about 22 days from my request to correct the section. It's still not done.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 04:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
When someone request the Admins to correct a section, it is not done for fun. They must respond and correct the section. And if the user is making the correction, a good Admin must appreciate it. The error is still there and I had again asked the Admins to correct it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 01:38, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

How to define a city proper for Chinese cities edit

Core districts + inner suburbs is a common definition used in various statistical tables. Remember that List of cities proper by population is about the city proper and not the urban area nor the metropolitan area. Why choose a World Gazetteer definition for Shanghai but not other cities of China. At the very least, make your definitions consistent within one country. Are you prepared to do that? --Polaron | Talk 03:43, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

In response to your comments on my talk page, the World Gazetteer is not perfect. The article doesn't use it as a primary reference, but rather to fill in gaps when up-to-date figures are hard to find. And there is no sense in comparing Chinese city figures to Indian ones; the reason exceptions are made for Chinese cities is because the Chinese definition of a city is so broad that it tends to include rural areas. For example, Chongqing's city limits extend across a region the size of Austria, with a population of 40 million people, which would look ridiculous on a list. For this reason, people have been using "core districts + inner suburbs" for the city proper figure. The World Gazetteer doesn't make clear what area its figure applies applies to, so it hasn't been used. I'm not going to revert your edit, but I think this discussion should be continued on the talk page of the article. Someone the Person (talk) 04:00, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

You made a good point on my talk page, but look at other entries on Chinese cities. They all use "core districts," or "core districts plus inner suburbs." Beijing -- core districts and inner suburbs. Tianjin -- core districts plus inner suburbs. Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Shenyang -- all core districts. I didn't put those figures or those definitions there; they are already there. If you want to use a different figure for Shanghai, then I suggest that the figures also be changed for the other Chinese cities, for the sake of consistency.

This is why I want to use "core districts + inner suburbs": It's true that Shanghai outside of core districts + inner suburbs is still Shanghai and still urban, but the list is not trying to measure urban areas; that's the purpose of List of urban areas by population. As for who named me the City-Proper-Definition Czar, I don't think either of us is the City-Proper-Definition Czar. Wikipedia's policy is not to include original research, so the fact that you have spent so much time in Shanghai doesn't make you the City-Proper-Definition Czar any more than I am. If either of us wants Shanghai to be at a certain position on the table, we need to discuss it on the talk page with other users rather than edit warring. Once a consensus is reached on the talk page, that consensus stays. Someone the Person (talk) 21:38, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your uploads edit

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! STBotI (talk) 21:32, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Mumbai6.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mumbai6.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

While you have great picture of the slums of Mumbai, it is not appropiate to keep on adding the one picture of Mumbai, as it's more appropriately placed in the mumbai article (after getting discussion), or poverty in India, dharavi, or slums. Especially on the largest cities page, where even though the other cities with pictures have large slums, especially Karachi, and yet those pictures are not being added for a reason. As it would be innappropiate there.Deavenger (talk) 03:10, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding the picture of Mumbai, as other editors have agreed to keep the pictures that were there before. I don't know what obession you have with the slums of Mumbai, but it's not appropiate to add that picture there. Sure, slightly over 50 percent live there according to an 8 year old report, but, it would not be appropiate. Like the slums of Karachi, Istanbul, or Shanghai should not be added there. There's a a place for those pictures like the economy of ______, poverty in ______, standard of living in _______, dharavi (or name of slum), slums. However, this page is not an appropiate place for the pictures of the slums of whatever city. If you keep this up, you can be blocked from editing.Deavenger (talk) 01:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Slums are an unfortunate part of Mumbai, and the rest of India, and it's not going to be changing anytime soon. Look at the three other cities (I'm actually kind of using pictures on the article overall, as they don't seem to add anything to article, as it's supposed to be just a list). Karachi has the largest slum in asia, yet I wouldn't add a picture if the Karachi slum, as I feel the picture (if we decide to keep the pictures) would not be appropiate there. There's slums in Istanbul (just listen to greek and a turk argue, not really fun). Shanghai has slums, and the picture I added was taken by you (very nice picture by the way, also think you have really nice pictures of the slums of Mumbai). Another problem was that you added the picture without discussing it first. I believe that after the first edit I undid of yours, I tried to discuss the issue with you, but you did not respond except for adding the picture back. Aryan Invasion Theory? edit

You have recently removed some etymologies of the word "Cash" to Tamil, with the reason that the Aryan Invasion Theory and associated linguistics are false.

I do not think you understand what the Aryan Invasion Theory was - it was that White Indo-European speakers assimilated the dark-skinned indigenous peoples of India, and the evidence for it was that Indian languages spoken in the North were related to European languages (as to this day languages like Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu are classified as Indo-European). Language has nothing to do with race; as an example, Turkish and Japanese belong to the same major language family (Altaic). The Tamil word Cash was a loanword and not a cognate word.

See List of English words of Tamil origin GSMR (talk) 01:44, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
* Err.. not quite. Firstly, Tamil belongs to the Dravidian family of languages, which is completely unrelated to the Indo-European family. I am not arguing the location of the Urheimat; that has no relevance to my concern. A loanword is one that is borrowed from one language to another, whether these languages are related does not matter. I mean, rickshaw is derived from Japanese, but you would not classify English and Japanese as belonging to the same language family, would you?

From Microsoft's Encarta Dictionary:

cash [kash]
(plural cash)
noun
small Asian coin: formerly, a coin of low value in China and some South Asian countries

Editing of Indian Road Network edit

Perhaps you did not take full advantage of the revision compare feature but I never removed the information from world bank articles, I simply relocated them to the issues page. I have reverted your edits as the basis for them is not valid. I hope you will take time in the future to more properly review edits before changing articles however I assume you are acting in good faith. Vedant (talk) 00:36, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Addendum : I will assume you are acting in good faith DESPITE your inflammatory accusations against me regarding the contrary and your challenging of my sanity among other personal attacks. Have a nice day. Vedant (talk) 00:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I see you still resort to personal attacks. I do find it somewhat humourous that you didn't revert my Indian Road Network article but instead left a wonderful accusatory comment. Is it because your revert had no basis? It's okay Bo Yu of Columbus, Ohio, I forgive you. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck graduating from Ohio State University in 2010. I understand it can be quite upsetting to take an extra year (or two) to graduate and I suggest that if you need counseling, you speak to the guidance counselors who can assist you in the matter. In addition, I might add that I would be more than happy to render any assistance you require should the guidance counselors be unable to provide it. Vedant (talk) 01:16, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm more than happy to take a compliment except you are addressing that compliment to a user other than I on my talk page. Nothing is the matter however, I simply wanted to let you know that I was more than happy to counsel you on the matter of your late graduation from Ohio State University (one of the foremost scientific institutions in the world). Now if you would like to accuse me of acting as a sockpuppet for Chanakyathegreat, that is certainly your prerogative. Should I accuse you of maintaining off-site accounts all with the username By78? A simple Google search of the word Eendiah will reveal this By78's lack of neutrality. However I'd rather not engage in firing off inflammatory accusations on the matter seeing how it is purely coincidental that the famous "Eendiah" quote appears on many websites (including this one). Incase you are curious which quote I was alluding to, I will post it here for your review: "Eendiah, de laahgest deemahkrasi een de vehrald! Pawah to Eendiah! Eendiah vill be de Sooopa-Pawah in tdwantie-tdwantie".Vedant (talk) 01:33, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Let me also add that I do not believe your edits are required as I have already made clear that issues exist with the road network. In addition I feel that your edits are haphazard and seem to be pushing an anti-neutral POV. If you want to take this to the Administrator level please feel free to do so as I can easily justify my edits. Vedant (talk) 02:29, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
