Well, the thing is, it's not about consistency or anything like that. I agree that the change was not fast, but the fact is that those municipalities were faster than the others. So what would be ideal is a wording that makes that clear without implying that the change happened in a short time. Any ideas? -Oreo Priest ^talk 12:39, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Disruptive...

Yup. The block was was quickly lifted [1], but left a blot on my record that no one seems to know how to expinge. I wandered into an apparently heated discussion where many comments had been removed. I added an opinion and an admin who was fed up at the dissention in that discussion slapped me with a block. Investigation found that I was not the incivil one [2], as no insult or incivilty was made nor intended, the block came off. As for the blot... I am a bit unhappy that it paints me in a manner undeserved, but I do not know what might be done. MichaelQSchmidt (talk) 03:52, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey Buster, I just wanted to thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I think there are a lot of folks here that want to find the positive aspects of our culture, but I do understand that some people get frustrated. You have a real gift for expressing the obvious in a very clear and concise way, and I always look forward to your input. I'd love to see you take a more "proactive" approach to things here, but understand that you work in your own way. On a side note, if you would ever consider taking on the burdens of the "admin buttons", I'd be more than happy to push that forward. As used, the word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else ([3]). 86 would be interested to learn that I am myself Irish. But then he's not interested in helping us write an encyclopedia, only in finding anyone who disagrees with him on anything whatsoever and tagging that person as a "Nazi". People like that provide innocent entertainment for the reasonable portion of the world, and a little bit of exercise for the fingers of those with "block" buttons. This particular character reminds me of two things: 1) one of my favourite characters in James Joyce's Ulysses, met in a bar; 2) certain characters I've encountered in real-life bars, who were bodily hurled into the street by bouncers, again and again. Unfortunately, two things: in Joyce, he was not so hurled, and on Wikipedia, as in RL, he's likely to come stumbling back in, unenlightened. I'd offer him a Flaming Nazi with cinnamon schnapps. I was out of the country for a bit and didn't have the chance to keep up editing, but the work you and others have kept up is great. I'll have to take a look at some of the other Obama administration pages - considering events are moving so quickly, it's not surprising that they will take quite a bit of work now and in the future to get right. Weasel Words

With weasel words, one can imply a statement is true when it may be no truer than its inverse. For example, an editor might preface the statement "Montreal is the best city in the world" with a disclaimer: "some people say that Montreal is the best city in the world". This is true: some people do say that Montreal is the best city in the world. And there's a new twist in the comedy: Wittily redolent of John Stonehouse's attempted vanishing act, our chum has abandoned his tarnished old identity, nipped off to South America for some face-altering plastic surgery, and assumed a shiny new ID in preparation for the day he resurfaces incognito from his fortnight's 'retirement' haha. See user:EVula's deft move in the move log dated 22:09 19 July 2009.

Apparently, being granted the right to vanish [5], means you end up with two WP accounts (no, not none - two!); one in your pre- and and one in your post-'retirement'/'vanishing' incarnation: [6], [7]. Benny Hill Show, anyone? Oh, and talking of name changes: [8]. Anyway where was I. Ah yes. The latest developments obviously mean that whereas it was originally conceived as a Going Away Forever party for just the one person who was going away forever, it now has to be a Party For He Who Went Away Forever And Came Back Within The Hour As Two People. Oh dear, it could be five by tomorrow. Fifty by the end of the week. I'm not sure I can afford the extra Wasilla Old Peculiar Moose Head Ale. How long is foreseeable? Is that anything like..."As soon as the coast is clear"? And here are some other questions. Why is Collect watching my User talk? (In RL, I have a skunk that lives in the back yard next to the recycling bin. As long as I ignore him, he doesn't stink up the place. I wish Collect would give me the same courtesy) Is EVula an administrator? Do you think we are in trouble? Should I change my name? If I change my name will Collect still be able to stalk me? Should we serve salsa or tartar sauce with the whitefish?
