Ye Olde Times

edit

Hello, I noticed that you created an article at Ye Olde Times (2009 film) and redirected Ye Olde Times to it. I wanted to inform you that we have notability guidelines for future films that says to create articles for when filming is verified to have begun. This is because a lot of factors can interfere with the film before it starts production. May I request that you hold off on having articles just yet? You can userfy them if you want -- I did this at User:Erik/Nottingham (film). Would it be possible for you to add {tl|db-author}} to both the article and the redirect for now? We can recreate the article later if filming does begin. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 13:43, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for getting back to me! We have WP:NFF as the threshold to anticipate factors that may affect filming, even for projects that seem clear-cut like this one. What you could do is copy the contents of the article to a subpage of yours, like User:Bubblekitty13/Ye Olde Times (by the way, you don't need (2009 film) if nothing else has this title). When filming does begin, you should be able to move the article from your subpage to the mainspace. It should avoid a {{db-repost}} since the AFD !voters' concerns are that it may not begin filming. I can help with userfying if you like. Just let me know! :) —Erik (talkcontrib) - 18:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's not a matter of being "convinced". It's just that editors obey the threshold because no one can be absolutely 100% sure that a film will be made. Some films get derailed right before the beginning of production. This happened on a fairly large scale with the recent WGA strike, and it may happen again with the SAG strike. Jack Black's casting was in May 2007, so it's been more than a year since the beginning of filming. Not having begun filming since, it reflects the iffiness of the project. Some films have been planned forever, like Logan's Run#Remake and [Fahrenheit 451#Future film]]. To userfy, just copy the article's contents and paste it at the red link I showed above. Save it for now and look for a reliable source that indicates that filming has begun. Put that in the article and move it back to the mainspace. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:10, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't change Ye Olde Times (2009 film) any further. It is likely to be deleted, based on the consensus so far. Just copy the contents to the userspace. When the article is deleted, and filming is verified to have begun later, then you can recreate the article with the same contents. I'll try to help improve the structure, since IMDb isn't the best source to cite. Your recreation should not be challenged because the AFD is focused on the fact that filming has not begun. If it does begin, then the consensus can't be upheld. It's alright that you're new... we were all new once upon a time. You're doing great in asking questions, that's what I did when I started out. Just look at my user page and the work I've done and the links to relevant policies and guidelines if you are interested in learning more. There's a little bit of a learning curve to it, but once it's mastered, editing is a cakewalk. :) The real challenge, I think, is disagreements with other editors -- being polite, finding that middle ground, etc. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 19:24, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
