Q&A Proposed Merges edit

Proposal
Merging TuxGuitar into the "Computer programs for writing tablature" section on the page Tablature.
Reasons
The reasons for why I am proposing that it should be merged are similar to the reasons why I am proposing that Powertab should be merged. After I used the actual program and reviewed the article I found that it was too vague. So I added quite a lot to it, but I still think that it is somewhat lacking--and I also believe that maybe it would not be so bad to put all of our eggs in one basket just this once in order to promote the effeciency of Wikipedia so that users and readers don't have to go from link to link to get to an article that is directly related to another article. So I suggest that it should one of three things should happen. These are:
  • That the article should be given more attention and built up some more if possible.
  • That TuxGuitar should be merged into the Tablature page.
  • Or that a new page should be started about Guitar related software and that its contents should consist of the contents of the pages that are currently within this category.

Proposal
Merging Powertab into the "Computer programs for writing tablature" section on the page Tablature.
Reasons
My reasons are simple, after becoming familiar with the program and reviewing the PowerTab article I concluded that either the article needs to be more in depth concerning powertab's capabilities and features and supported featuers and things along those lines, or it needs to be merged. After all we are trying to run an encylopedia, therefore it should be as accurate and as detailed as possible. Please post your questions below.

Proposed mergers edit

Hi, Bubble anonymous. I removed the merger templates on the talk pages for TuxGuitar and Power Tab Editor. Those merger templates are article space templates and do not belong on the talk pages. I put them in the section for computer programs on the Tablature page. They could also go on the top of the two other article pages if you desire. I think this proposal is not a very good one. The article for "Tablature" is already very long and the two articles you are proposing to merge are very distinct and would just clutter up the tablature article. Originally I considered it a SNOW proposal but we can wait for more opinions all the same. Jason Quinn (talk) 19:38, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Proposed Merges edit

Alright, that sounds good to me. What does SNOW stand for?
If the article is as long as you say it is then should it be made into a separate page? Bubble (talk) 21:19, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

SNOW is WP:SNOW, which basically means a proposal has very little chance of succeeding so WP:BEBOLD should usually be applied and things like proposed merge templates should be removed. In this case, I decided to wait. I'm sad to see that nobody outside of us has commented yet on the merger. No harm in waiting longer I guess. Regarding separating the tablature article, I don't think that it is excessively long. It seems an appropriate length for a mature article on a large subject. I didn't want to make it longer by merging a considerable amount of material. Jason Quinn (talk) 22:26, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh alright, and yes it is rather disappointing, Do you think that till Thanksgiving would be enough time, to wait I mean? I mean, I don't want to wait to long, because if that happens that sooner or later somebody will just remove the proposal templates assuming that they're the remnants of a dead project.
