Two of your recent quality assessments edit

Hi — you recently rated De Bruijn–Erdős theorem (graph theory) as being class C, and Curtis–Hedlund–Lyndon theorem as being class start. According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/Wikipedia 1.0, class C is for articles in which "there are significant areas that are not yet covered. The article may be poorly organized or still include questionable or irrelevant material. Good general references have been provided, but citations for some aspects or individual facts may still be missing or unclear." Class Start is for articles that are "still weak in many areas". Since I just significantly expanded both articles, and I attempted to pay attention to whether they cover all aspects of the areas, are appropriately organized, and are properly cited, I see this as an indictment of my efforts — obviously you feel that they are not good enough. So I would appreciate, if possible, any more specific feedback you might have on these articles: what specifically is not covered about these subjects that should be covered? What is inadequate about their organization? What questionable or irrelevant material do they include? And what facts have missing or unclear references? With your specific feedback I can try working harder to improve these articles — without it your assessment comes as a bit of a disappointment, but an unconstructive one. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:50, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The assessments were based on just an initial view. Perhaps they were a bit hasty and unconstructive, so feel free to assess them as you see fit. --Bte99 (talk) 21:59, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, I think it would be even less useful for me to evaluate articles whose primary recent contributor is me. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:33, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Brian Darrow edit

Thanks for spotting this, Bte99. A chill runs down my spine when I imagine how many articles of this type survive unnoticed here on Wikipedia. Keep up the good work. Best regards. Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 06:51, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Zooey Deschanel‎ edit

Would you mind explaining your reason for reverting, saying "readability"? I believe that I improved it by putting those of 2008 into one concise paragraph. --Musdan77 (talk) 21:56, 14 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters edit

Hi Bte99,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! flagcons in settlement infoboxes edit

Bte, I invite you to look at the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geography. It deals with the posting of flag icons in settlement info boxes. More properly, it is my effort to move the discussion (and "guidance") out of the WikiProject and into a Manual of Style discussion page. Thanks. --S. Rich (talk) 16:36, 12 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Aubrey O'Day edit

I have placed a warning about edit warring on 169.229.81.119's talk page, but you also need to discuss the sources for your preferred version on the article talk page. Aubreyoday.com is not a reliable source. --Guy Macon (talk) 08:17, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jimmie Johnson edit

Well, but the collaboration with John Sitaras had an important role in his career, as he mentioned lots of times in media coverage. This can't stay unmentioned. If you consider it promotional, then how would you render that? You can't just delete it. Manzzoku (talk) 08:06, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Civil Air Patrol edit

Proper nouns are those which identify specific things. Examples of proper nouns include United States Air Force, or East Ninth Street. Common nouns identify a class of things, these are not capitalized. Examples of common nouns include air force, airplane and airman. While in (American) military writing, the names of some common nouns (like Army and Marine) are capitalized this not the case in our Wikipedia manual of style.

The use of a common style improves our writing and make what we write easier to understand. There are reasons for rules and good writers respect that.

I would direct you to the Wiki Manual of Style and specifically the section on [terms].

I will give you some time to revert your own edits to the more correct form. If we cannot reach agreement, I shall escalate this issue. Please drop me a note to let me know how you would like to handle this. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 05:08, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I think you are misinterpreting the use of Air Force in the article. All instances I changed the usage is as a proper noun as a synonym for United States Air Force. It should remain capitalized. In addition, WP:MILTERMS states "The general rule is that wherever a military term is an accepted proper noun, as indicated by consistent capitalization in sources, it should be capitalized." See for example http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/10C909.txt.
Before you make any changes, be sure to ask for a consensus at Talk:Civil Air Patrol. Bte99 (talk) 05:58, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
We can agree the proper place to discuss this is on the CAP talk page. I have posted there and hope you will reply. I simply do not see in the Manual of Style any rule that allows or requires the capitalization of "air force" when referring to the USAF. If you find such a rule someplace, I will very much in your debt. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 08:49, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why did you revert my CAP edits? They were all accurate.

Great. What is the next step?Bte99 (talk) 14:54, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I am just setting up your Academy page. What I'm thinking is that we will do som general vandalism things, then move on to what you've been doing, then (if you want) to Twinkle. If everything goes well I'll ask you to apply for Rollback and we can work it out from there. Also I'd like to show you a little bit of New Page Patrolling with you.
Ok the starting point is User:Callanecc/CVUA, so go there and have a look. Once you have read through that (not the links on the right hand side), click on the "Academy page" link, read the page and follow the instructions. Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 15:13, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
If you need to find my CVUA page in the future go to my user page and click the link. Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 15:17, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've created a section on my talk page for the CVUA and you - it's here so if you have any questions or concerns they go there :). Callanecc (talkcontribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 15:23, 11 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Favor? edit

Hello there! I've a favor to ask. I just noticed that the Sophie Hunter page has an external image which is outdated. The photo from IMDB was from 2011 but there's a newly uploaded photo that is more suitable, taken just this month. This one http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1259206656/tt2084970 or this one http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1275983872/tt2084970. I hope you can help in changing it (or removing it altogether as I don't think it's necessary to the page at all). Thank you very much!197.155.200.97 (talk) 12:59, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
