Myachi

Hi there, please read my note at Talk:Myachi. Please don't take offense, but the copyright violation problem is extremely important, and so the information had to be removed. Also, some of it was written like an advert, rather than an encyclopedia article. I know you claim to be the founder of Myachi, but unfortunately any advert-like material put up by the company or representative is likely to be thought of as spam, and spam edits will be reverted. Continual spamming might result in a block. Anyway, Myachi might well be notable enough to be on Wikipedia - but this musn't be an advert or a how-to guide, but an encyclopedia article. Hi BrownsFanForLife. I'm sorry that my edits made you feel this way. I didn't remove the content to be annoying, or becuase I didn't like it, but because it was a copyright violation, and so had to be removed as soon as possible. For more information on copyright, see WP:CP. This generally means that it came word for word from another source - for example, the flip book. If this is the case, it can't be put up on wikipedia, because this would be violating copyright laws. Also, if it comes from the myachi website, it can't be put straight up here either, for the same reason. Don't forget that nothing on the page has been completely deleted - it's all in the page history, so you can always go back to the content that you added.

When I said that the page sounded like an advert, it's because it was a bit like the information had been written like it was meant to sell me a product, rather than teach me about it like an encyclopedia should. Take a look at WP:TONE to find out more. In essence, though, the article must sound like an encyclopedia article, rather than a how-to guide or an advertisement.

Sourcing is extremely important on Wikipedia. If you look at articles that have been around for a long time, like united States, you'll see that much of the information has a note in the Notes section. Information in Myachi must be sourced in the same way. If it came from a website, like Myachi's own website, then it must be cited. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for more info.

I hope this is helpful. At no point was I "shitting on you", or being anal about the page - it's just that the information under copyright had to be removed, even before telling you about it. If you look at the article's talk page, you'll see that I did give an example of the conent that was unencyclopedic. Remeber that the page doesn't belong to anybody, not even you or me, and so you can't ask to be contacted before any changes are made.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page (in a civil manner). Again, I'm sorry about the way my edits made you feel, but please don't take offense. Content on wikipedia that breaks copyright laws - that is, stuff that's word-for-word from somewhere else - has to be removed immediately.

Hi again. Basically, all information should be properly sourced. Some of the information - like the "Myachi in a nutshell" - isn't really suitable for wikipedia, because it's more of a "how-to guide" than an encyclopedia, and so can be left out. The rest of the information should be properly sourced, like it says on Wikipedia:Citing sources. So basically, it can't be word-for-word copying, and must be sourced. Go ahead and add it in, and I'll try and help out by changing it to Wikipedia style. ConDem^Talk 01:00, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I must be the admin in question. My opinion is that the subject is probably not notable. Notable does not mean famous, but that the subject got significant coverage by reliable secondary sources independent of it (and Reliable Sources in your case means mainstream media). Re: Myachi pages

I am not a big fan of List of Pepsi types, personally. But there's a line between this article, that adds some context and List of All Myachis. For your second remark, I think you are mistaken about what wikipedia is and is not. Our notability guidelines are there to prevent the creation of articles that can't be verified. If you can't find coverage, that's, by definition, because the subject is not notable. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thoughts. If you would provide the list of these sources that would be great. However, the sources must be 3P (third party). I'm not saying the item does not exist, but the fact that it is not sourced outside of it's own website, does violate WP:VERI. Finally, the article also fails really to meet WP:NOTE. Myachi

You say you did a Google search on Myachi and pulled up "nothing." However, I just searched the same thing and found 4 sites with info. Granted, they have the same information as the Myachi article on here, but that's what you get. THAT'S THE ONLY INFORMATION AVAILABLE. What else do you want? Most of this info on Myachi comes from Steven Ochs, Myachi's creator. There's no books, no movies, nothing we can quote or source. You want his e-mail address? Any of the 'Myachi Masters' can verify the truth in everything I've stated on Wikipedia. I can give you his phone number, too.

I don't know what it'd take to satisfy you guys, but what we have is what we have, and it'll have to suffice.

It most certainly is a disaster. I'm just trying to compile a respectable article on Myachi, so any kid with access to the internet can look it up and learn more about Myachi. Yes, Myachi is a decade old now, but it's still growing. There is next to nothing that discusses it. Everyone always links me to more Wikipedia pages, with more info than I need. NO ONE will tell me what to do and where to do it, they just link me to giant pages. Pages so huge I can never find what I need.

So if you want me to add sources and whatnot, then you damn well best tell me what to do, when, where, how, and why.

Maybe you don't make the rules. But what's the point of enforcing them if you don't tell me why? I don't know what I'm doing, or how, or even why. I try to write an article on Myachi, for other peoples' use, and everyone starts barking at me about how I'm doing everything wrong. NO ONE will tell me what I need to do, what to say or what tags to put on the page. No one will do it themselves either, they just delete the article and pretty much spit in my face.

I moved the discussion here to keep everything more concise, please reply on this page. Okay here is the general runover of the rules I have mentioned. WP:VERI pretty states the any potentialy questionabe statements in a article need to be verifiable a reliable source. Wikipedia:Reliable sources states that Reliable sources are authors or publications regarded as trustworthy or authoritative in relation to the subject at hand. It also states that Articles should rely on reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. The general concept behind having reliable third party sources is that it proves that the information is completely accurate. Now onto WP:NOTE which states that subject must have a decent level of notability. To find out the general rules for notability read the following Wikipedia:Notability#General notability criterion.
