Welcome! edit

Hello, Brooklyn Smith, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Roxanne Fontana, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Feedback and help edit

Thanks for your reply. I think you'll want to work on writing in a more formal, encyclopedic tone. For example, review WP:PEACOCK for tips on how to avoid sensationalist terms that introduce point-of-view. We strive to write about subject neutrally and in a formal tone that does not introduce opinion and editorial comment. You can also review WP:NPOV. You have done a great job finding sources and putting together information. It is nice to have enthusiastic editors on board working on these subjects! --Spike Wilbury (talk) 15:40, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

March 2023 edit

Hello! You added a whole bunch of now-deleted, copyrighted images of Ulla Jones to Commons and to her English article. That's not only a serious breech of one of the most vital Wikimedia rules but also against the law. I think you actually know that. The wise tread lightly on crumbling ground. Best wishes, --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:38, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Liz has offered to help me with this. In waiting patiently for her in the past week, I found the original editors discussion (two of them) which Liz relied on for this deletion. They are completely wrong, and unprofessional and surprised me for Wikipedia. There are so many things I can say about this. First the editors are discussing how they know so much about the 1980s and never heard of her. The article clearly states that the first record release is 1999. Yet they go on using derogative words about the article and the artist"ridiculous" "stupid", and saying the citations were not legit, when they are all published citations. In the converstion on the take down discussion they claim the artist has "some videos" when she has over 60, on various channels of fans and her record company. Viewing that conversation is such a pox on professionalism and writing, that I am somewhat discouraged to go through the undeletion process to be honest. I know of other editors, writers who I have discussed this with in America and Scandinavia, (I am in the UK), who may want to take this article on. Do you have anything to say about behaviour as this that leads to articles being taken down? I'm referring to the discussion which can be viewed on the editors talk page. That they are stating the person was 'of' the 1980s, when the first album was released in the 1990s, makes me just want to throw up my hands. Clearly they are not in the position to judge if they cannot even read the article properly. Discouraged, and disillusioned with Wiki.... Brooklyn Smith (talk) 21:46, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
First album released in 1999, with an ongoing catalog. Brand new single released tomorrow for example. Would have loved to update my article. Other quotes between those editors, was that if this person IS notable someone should "take a machete" to this article, etc. I am a published journalist and novelist, by the way. I am careful in my work, and I don't confuse decades for example, for a start. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 21:57, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

THANK YOU edit

Apparently I was trying to resubmit an article that had been edited without my knowledge. The edit removed most of the sources, and all of the content of what had been in the article that referred to this artist's work post 2014! This might have been the reason it was nominated for deletion (without my knowledge), and consequently deleted a month ago (also without my knowledge). I went in to do edits to this page that has been fine for the past 9 years, to find it had been deleted. Once the deleted text was restored, I merely resubmit it knowing the reason given for deletion was actually in error. However I did not read the text I resubmitted until after it being rejected. I then found something malicious had happened to this article most likely just prior to it's nomination and consequent deletion. This is pretty outrageous actually! I would like to find out the history of the edits that caused this article to be nominated for deletion. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 20:19, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please state your relationship with Roxanne Fontana. Do you have an undisclosed Conflict of interest? Cullen328 (talk) 20:56, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Cullen! I had this discussion with Liz already. I am not Roxanne Fontana, nor am I her representative, record company, or paid by her. Liz concluded that there was no issue with that, and questioned the citations as the reason for the takedown. I am getting tired of repeating the same explanations for the past 19 days. I've been discussing this issue with some other fans of Roxanne Fontana, who are writers. Can you restore the deleted article for me here, and I can show one or two of them all of the discussions as well. One of these writers has written for Wiki before with no issues in fact, which is why I got in touch with him. Perhaps he can create a more acceptable article than I have. Although I still see nothing wrong with my article! I have a few other articles I am working on currently, to be honest, and following up with Liz today was my last attempt at trying to hear from her to save this one, as I am anxious to settle this, and/or move on. If you can give me the deleted version, and Liz doesn't write me with a solution in the next day or two, I will pass this to someone else. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 21:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
What, precisely, is your relationship with Roxanne Fontana? I would like a responsive answer. Cullen328 (talk1:26, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
Draft:Roxanne Fontana is very similar to the deleted article, and you do not have Wikipedia email access enabled. Cullen328 (talk) 21:30, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello I was just replying to your last question and then it wouldn't let me. Ok, please can you tell me how to access a Wikipedia email. Thank you. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 21:33, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would appreciate that as this article only goes up to 2014. Thank you. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 21:34, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Go to your "Preferences" page and edit "Email options". Cullen328 (talk) 21:36, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I thank you for this, my email is registered here now. When you have the time if you can send me the article I would be most grateful. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 22:21, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  Done Cullen328 (talk) 23:41, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Received, with thanks. I will open it up, comb through it, add more citations regarding every aspect, if I can, if not, will edit it down. If I do not hear from Liz I will likely share it with another Wiki contributor and see if they are truly interested in taking it forward, and re-doing it using my original as a guide. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 07:50, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Brooklyn Smith. Many other people have explained why your article was deleted; there is no reason for me to repeat what has already been written. Add citations that provide extensive coverage specifically about Roxanne Fontana, delete the information that is not verifiable, and submit the article for review.
I have listened to Roxanne Fontana's music, watched several of other videos, and read some of her work. I am a fan! But my appreciation for her artistry does not impact my assessment of her notability as Wikipedia defines notability. My background is similarly irrelevant. JSFarman (talk) 17:47, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Thank you for that. Yes will work with another and get it right. I understand. Perhaps it needs to be streamlined most of all, and find more citations. Brooklyn Smith (talk) 18:27, 15 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
