Help request Telmar part 1 - name edit

{{help me}} Thanks so much for your offer to help, I created the page Telmar_(Software) using the tutorial and manual of style. I just need some assistance with it, I added the (software) after Telmar for disambiguation, is this the correct format- the page does not show in search and wondering if this is correct. separate question re 'ad' moved to another section below  Chzz  ►  15:47, 25 February 2011 (UTC) Brom479 (talk) 15:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Brom479Reply

You created Telmar (software) - with a small 's'.
(more in a minute)  Chzz  ►  15:28, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

You are right sorry link is Telmar_(software) Brom479 (talk) 15:30, 25 February 2011 (UTC)brom479Reply

(edit conflict)

You created Telmar (software) - with a small 's'. That is quite correct; it should be a small 's'.
That term will appear in the search 'suggestions', but it can take some hours for that to happen. Also, if a user does put "Telmar (Software)" in the search box, it will take them directly to the article.
What you probably should do is, add a hatnote on top of Telmar, using a template, such as {{For|the supplier of advertising and media information software|Telmar (software)}} - which would display;
You should also add similar/opposite on top of Telmar (software).
Hope that helps.  Chzz  ►  15:34, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

That does help, I did add the hat to both Telmar and Telmar (software). Thanks that helped a lot Brom479 (talk) 16:08, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Brom479Reply

Help request Telmar part 2 - advert edit

continued/moved from previous 'helpme' above  Chzz  ►  15:47, 25 February 2011 (UTC) I also edited the post several times to make it encyclopedic but there is an advertising banner on the top. How is this placed and how is it removed. Thanks again for your offers of help, I really appreciate it! Brom479 (talk) 15:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Brom479Reply

Re. "advert" - I will read the article, check refs, and let you know ASAP.  Chzz  ►  15:37, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
In my own opinion, it is not "advert-like". The tag was added here by Mean as custard (talk · contribs), so I will ask that person to add to this discussion, and clarify what - if anything - is a cause for concern. (Please allow time for their response, below).  Chzz  ►  15:43, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the advert tag as the article no longer reads like a promotional piece. . . Mean as custard (talk) 16:28, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Clarify re helpme and talk pages edit

I notice that, at the top of this page, RJFJR "welcomed" you and mentioned about {{help me}}, but you wrote "Thanks so much for your offer to help" - which looks like you thought you were writing to that specific user; that isn't the case;

  • If you put {{helpme}} here, on your page (with a question), then it alerts any and all helpers, and someone - in this case me - turns up to answer your question.
  • If you want to contact a specific person, you need to do so on their own talk page - for example, for RJFJR, on User talk:RJFJR.
  • There is (usually) a link to a user's talk page on the end of their signature - either as the words (such as talk or chat to me!) or as a symbol, as in the ► in mine.
  • If you do leave a message on another user's talk page, do so in a new section at the end of their page.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  15:54, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the clarification, I am very appreciative of all the help Brom479 (talk) 16:09, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Brom479Reply

Hey, no worries; we're all here to make Wikipedia better, right? So - go edit some other stuff, before you're labelled as a single-purpose account!  Chzz  ►  03:32, 26 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
