Speedy deletion of Hypercubist edit

A tag has been placed on Hypercubist requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Whip it! Now whip it good! 03:51, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

=advice edit

What you need are several good references from reliable media, that are not based on press releases. If this mock virial campaign is noticed in multiple major Canadian press sources, and articles dealing with it in a substantial way are published, then and only then can there be an article. When you have them, write the article around it, and call it "Hypercubist marketing campaign" . I do not know the status of /www.marketingmag.ca as I could not get the site to work. If it is a true trade magazine with selective reporting it will possibly do as one source. But blogs and press releases on the web are not acceptable. In practice, articles like this need extremely good sourcing in order to stay. You will understand there is some reluctance to let Wikipedia be used as one of the marketing tools for the contestants--we're an encyclopedia & can't compromise it. Our purpose is not social interaction. As reviewing administrator, I had to delete it again, but I hope this advice helps. If you want to show me a prospective article, use my email from my user talk page. But even with the sources, the community will decide whether to actually keep it--all I can do is advise you on the probability. DGG (talk) 05:12, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was able to link to the magazine this morning. As I had guessed, it is not an independent article, but a repeat of the company's PR, devoted mainly to quoting the company's Manager of Advertising. DGG (talk) 17:49, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
