February 2015 edit

Hello, I'm Binksternet. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Feminism seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 18:09, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Men's rights movement, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Talk:Men's rights movement/Article probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is necessarily any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:22, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Talk quote template edit

Helpful tip: Use {{tq}} when quoting others on a talk page. For example:

  • {{tq|I really love Chipotle burritos}}

will appears as

  • I really love Chipotle burritos

Using this template makes it much easier to address specific statements by other users. Thought you might find it helpful. Cheers. EvergreenFir (talk) Please {{re}} 22:38, 10 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Discretionary sanctions alert re: Feminism edit

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding all edits about, and all pages related to, (a) GamerGate, (b) any gender-related dispute or controversy, (c) people associated with (a) or (b), all broadly construed, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

This message is informational only and does not imply misconduct regarding your contributions to date.

This is a standard informational post created by (I assume) a bot because I have edited a page. This is not any accusation that my edit was or was not proper, and is not a review of the content of my edits. This post will remain here for historical purposes. BrentNewland (talk) 23:10, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
This is not created by a bot, but by the user that signed it (SlimVirgin). While it's not a direct accusation that your editing has crossed a line, it is a warning that that line is much more rigidly patrolled in this particular area and that crossing it is likely to result in immediate difficulties for you, not just a warning. Mind how you go. GoldenRing (talk) 02:53, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
My point is that, as the message says, I'm not being warned that my actions have been wrong or improper. It's a generic warning caused by editing a protected page. If you think it's anything other than that, than I'll remove it, because it doesn't belong here. Also, your comment is really unnecessary. Mind how YOU go. Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:34, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
