Images for GA review

Hi, the GA review says that more images should be added in the plot sectionish area. Do you know any pictures we can use? Images are a weak point for me, I've only uploaded some for book covers. Derild4921 21:45, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Will take a look at it... I must push this article to GA status! Brambleclawx 22:01, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I think the best we could do is to find the boxed set images, and use those. None of those will be free, so we'll have to use fair use. I'll try to get that done. Brambleclawx 22:07, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
<ec>Great to have you back! Also, Sadads the reviewer says the article is close to GA, just needs a little polishing so we should be able to get it up! By the way, Airplaneman is now an admin passing with 125 supports! :D Derild4921 22:07, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Great! Thanks for helping me catch up with what's happened! The boxed sets for the first 2 series are up at the top of the article, and I'm just getting ready to upload Power of Three boxed 1-3. I can also add a pic of boxed Graystripe Trilogy... what do you think? Brambleclawx 22:15, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Looks fine to me! Derild4921 00:55, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Warriors (novel series)

Congratulations on the completion of the GA review for Warriors (novel series, you have put a great effort into creating this article and were very responsive to my comments in the review. I do GA reviews a little more precisely then other reviewers, so I hope you don't mind the nitpickiness and I hope you feel the article has significantly improved. If you wouldn't mind, could you give me a little bit of feedback on my talk page on how I did in the review. I like to hear what reviewies liked and didn't like about the process so I can do them better in the future, Sadads (talk) 18:25, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Template message

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Airplaneman 00:55, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Airplaneman, you realise you granted me a right for a feature where the trial ended 15 days ago...? Brambleclawx 20:47, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
That's what I thought at first too but a visit at WP:RPP I saw pending changes is still being implemented. I think that it will still used until the straw polls are done and a consensus is formed. Derild4921 23:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Mmhm... I know. Though I voted to not keep. I don't mind keeping the right though. Brambleclawx 15:53, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

GA for Moonrise?

Do you think Moonrise is ready for GA? Derild4921 13:47, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Not yet. It needs a bit more work, and probably a bit of expansion. The settings and characters are lacking still. Brambleclawx 13:49, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome message! Enjoying this so far (picked up Wikitext much faster than expected). Quick question: Do you know when account confirmation typically kicks in? I've had my account for 4 days and have made 10+ edits/updates to different articles. Do I need to do anything on my end like contact an admin to request confirmation? Thanks for any info! Mulholland Beachwood (talk) 19:22, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Normally, having had an account for 4 days, and made 10+edits, I think you should have autoconfirmed status. That means you should be able to move pages, create pages, etc. Try creating User:Mulholland Beachwood/Sandbox. Click on the link, and type anything in there, then save. If it works, you're autoconfirmed. Brambleclawx 19:34, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Just refreshed my page and it worked. I guess Wiki autoconfirms you after 4 days down to the minute and second. Thanks again! Mulholland Beachwood (talk) 19:55, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Brambleclawx 19:55, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for CSD

That "A Prophet Plot" thing was meant to go in my sandbox. Didn't even realize I'd sent it live until I got your CSD notice. Sorry bout that. Millahnna (talk) 20:02, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: List of laboratory information management system

Hello Brambleclawx, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of List of laboratory information management system, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly promotional - PROD it or take it to WP:AFD . You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dabomb87 (talk) 21:41, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Brambleclawx, The discussion on my talk page has gone awfully quiet since I presented evidence that I have been wiki attacked. Will NorthernCounties now be blocked for a time period?Factocop (talk) 10:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

I would agree with that! --84.93.157.59 (talk) 09:39, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Pending changes/Straw poll on interim usage

Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:29, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

My Warriors club schedule

Hi, Brambleclawx! I have a warrior name, which is Loudclaw. You can just call me that. Thank you for telling me about WikiProject Warriors. It is true, I have read almost all of Erin Hunter's books. I just need the new ones. I am being mentored, so I can do this and that at the same time. Ian (talk) 20:31, 9 October 2010 (UTC)!

Just because you're being mentored doesn't mean you can't take part in WikiProject Warriors too. Just try to apply what you're learning to whatever you're doing. Brambleclawx 01:15, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm just here to notify you of a new article I'm writing. It's a subpage on my user page. The name is User:Ian.bjorn/Warriors Chronological Order. I'm working on it, so I decided to notify you because you are apparently a chief editor on WP:WARRIORS. Get others to work on it, too. Thanks. Ian (talk) 00:21, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I've posted on Ian's talk about this. Airplaneman 22:53, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Warriors fan

I ran into MyImmortalShrewstorm (talk · contribs) today while patrolling CAT:SD. Sadly, I had to delete their page, but hopefully they will help out with existing Warriors articles! Airplaneman 01:12, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying (and ec-ing me at the same time, right when I log on). Brambleclawx 01:15, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
You're most certainly welcome ;). It was my pleasure! Airplaneman 02:02, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm thinking about getting rid of the statustop, since I never update it anymore, because I don't want to waste edits on it. What do you think? Brambleclawx 02:07, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I would personally get rid of it for the same reason you gave. They're hardly ever up to date and can be a waste of edits. My status top is just a sort of "status message" that can be found at User:Airplaneman/Header, but I got rid of my generic statustop template as well because it quickly fell out of use. I change my current status top template every once in a while. Also, I use User:Ale_jrb/Scripts/statusCheck.js to see if someone is online or not. Airplaneman 02:22, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

verification rules

Dear Brambleclawx, I have been writing an entry for a research institute in Korea and they don't appear to have much more verifiable info that is already provided in the draft. This leaves some useful info that I am guessing will fall foul of Wikipedia's assessors (whoever they are!). Should I re-work the article to make it verifiable but less useful? Thanks in advance for your help. Mystic Street Mystic Street (talk) 17:30, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Nice job! What you've written so far is actually pretty impressive, and is probably nearly good enough to be in article space! Some things I'd like to point out:
  • Try to avoid external links in the main text of the article. For example, "inaugurated" in the lead section, and the first link in "Origins" should probably be either removed, or (for the second one I mentioned), probably converted into a reference. At the bottom of the article, you should use ==References== to create a seperate section for the sources, instead of just using the word "sources".
  • Unless you plan to add pictures, you can get rid of the example pictures, and the "gallery" stuff.
  • The email address in the infobox should probably be removed.
  • In section titles, only capitalise the first word, unless a later word is a proper noun. Example: ==Research and technology==, technology is not capitalised, but since Korea is a proper noun, you would call a section "Popularity in Korea", and not "Popularity in korea". (That last one was just an example, it's not in your article).
  • "...using CROs to bring lead compounds..." in "Organisation" section: you should explain what CRO is before using the abbreviation.
Hope this helps. If you want me to actually do some editing on the article, feel free to ask me. And when you're ready to move it to article space, remember to use "move" (drop-down from the arrow at the top, next to the watchlist star), and do not copy-paste. You can ask for help on that too. Brambleclawx 22:23, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Brambleclawx, many, many thanks for this feedback. Very useful. I'll aim to get this into article space in the next couple of days. Cheers! Mystic Street (talk) 21:06, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the smile!

This edit summary made me laugh! PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:30, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that's funny! Ian (talk) 19:49, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, though the fact that they self-reverted and ec-ed me while I was writing that of ruined the effect. Brambleclawx 22:31, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's always like, "Why!?!?" when vandals go back to revert themselves. I'm being endlessly amazed at how much vandalism seems to slip through the RC patrollers. Although, I guess they can't get everything. So how goes school for you? PrincessofLlyr royal court 13:52, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
School is... ok. I have so much math homework, and the fact that I have to always show my work makes doing homework very tedious, and time-consuming. Plus, I want to get a Duke of Edinburgh's Award.   I guess that I'm just a very goal-oriented person. Brambleclawx 22:03, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
I liked the summary as well :). It is good to have goals! Math gives me the most homework as well. School is why I'm slowly lessening my time on Wikipedia, at least for the next few months. I need my sleep! Airplaneman 22:56, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Airplaneman. My mom told my dad to let me sleep in a couple more hours a night (by shifting my wake up time from 6 AM to 8 AM)and I finally feel like I'm getting a decent amount of sleep finally! Ian (talk) 20:09, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I've been kind of disappointed that my edit count has been dropping, but I need to sleep too!   If any of you have time though, I'm working to get Moonrise to GA. Brambleclawx 01:35, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
The aviator's right: sleep is important. Which means nothing coming from a girl who's going to get about 6 1/2 hours of it tonight, but anyhow...my edit count has been dropping drastically (although up again this month) because I took on a lot of projects this fall, which are all keeping me quite busy. But I've had some time, just started reading The Heroes of Olympus - have either of you gotten a chance to read it? (I'm not going to be on at all tomorrow, so if you guys see something on my talk, feel free to answer or make them aware of that fact.) PrincessofLlyr royal court 04:14, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I may read it. That may get me more involved in the PJTF again; lately, I've been reading Twilight (@BCx: oh, the horror!) and plan on finishing the series (!!!). I will make sure to stalk your talk ;). Airplaneman 04:25, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

I've felt interested in starting PJ, but never got around to starting it. I usually get about 7-8 hours of sleep. And horror doesn't even begin to describe it, Airplaneman.   Brambleclawx 16:25, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Haha :p. Have you read it? Airplaneman 02:19, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Jumping in here, I must agree Twilight was more than horror for me. Just the description of it scared me enough, a good vampire? Well, it's mainly because I just can't deal with romance in any way. Though I never have read it. Sleep is good though school really has kicked me this year. Derild4921 13:37, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I once read the last page in I think it was Twilight. Something about broken glass, and bleeding people. I also read some part in the middle, which was so awful that it just repeatedly used "he", "they" "him" "I" "you", and all these other pronouns for nearly a chapter, without re-mentioning any character names once. It was ridiculous. Brambleclawx 14:08, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
@Airplaneman: how could you?!?!?   Actually, I haven't read it because a. I don't like vampires (too much blood and gore), b. too much teenage angst , c. I don't believe in bad guys (vampires) who turn out to be good, and d. I also hate stories where a girl is caught between two guys. I have no opinion about the quality of writing because I haven't read them! Romance not so bad, but romance where a girl has to go to the dark side = not good. Anyway...if you ever see me editing Twilight articles it's for vandalism, not interest. (And Airplaneman, I'm glad you can enjoy them, I just don't think I would.) BCx, you should read PJ sometime. Honestly though, I think his later series are even better than PJ was, at least judging from The Red Pyramid and the few chapters of Lost Hero that I've read. PrincessofLlyr royal court 18:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh yes, I will try to fit some PJ reading into my daily schedule soon. Then I can try to push some PJ articles to GA as well! Brambleclawx 18:58, 17 October 2010 (UTC) Add So have we all suddenly decided to write extravagent summaries for fun now? What made that one even funnier is that there's a typo in it.Brambleclawx 19:36, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't know how I tolerate it, but Twilight is not the kind of stuff I usually read, so I thought it'd be interesting to... explore a bit :). I can't believe it's been almost a year since you registered, BCx... time flies! Oh, and that's what happens when you type really fast like →tihs←. Airplaneman 19:41, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

I've made so many typos in my edit summaries, and I never realise until after I save. Brambleclawx 19:43, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Wish we could revise edit summaries, but that would open up a whole other set of problems... if the typo is really bad, you can always make a null edit with an edit summary explaining your last edit summary, though, I think (example). Airplaneman 20:00, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I didn't get null edits, and once tried to resave a page by pressing edit, not doing anything, but writing an edit summary. In short: it didn't work. Brambleclawx 20:02, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
However, your edit summary is saved. What you need to do is change something; adding a blank line to the bottom of the article should work (I added one in the example in my sandbox, for instance, and it is recorded at Special:Contributions/Airplaneman). Airplaneman 20:05, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I wish I knew that before. Not that I'm now going to go back and add blank lines everywhere to fix my mistakes. Brambleclawx 20:06, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Email me.

Hi, bcx. Please email me. I've got email enabled. First look at the page we've been having our conversation for the last quarter moon (week). Ian (talk) 21:02, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Ian, I'd love to help, but I don't use email on Wikipedia. You could try asking Mono, since he's been mentoring you. Sorry, Brambleclawx 21:05, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
That's the problem. Yesterday he just deleted my entry in Access Denied's guestbook then he quit mentoring me. My address is hidden. Not wikipedia, but real. Ian (talk) 21:14, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Ian, firstly, I would recommend that you ask Mono about it first. As far as I can tell, you haven't even asked Mono why he did that. It could very well have been an accident. Remember to ask nicely. Secondly, as mentioned on your talk page, that comment you stuck on your talk page is technically still viewable even if it's made a hidden comment, and was not appropriate (since it was a personal attack). As Fetchcomms said, "get in line". Wikipedia is not a social networking site, and so constantly making only tangentially related subjects is not really something you should be doing. We generally don't need to hear about your life issues (which does not mean we don't care how you feel, but this is sort of a "professionalism" thing; think of Wikipedia like a big office building: we don't run around telling everyone that we're angry; we try to resolve things by talking to each other calmly). Once in a while is fine, but not constantly, because that's unnecessary and distracting. Wikipedia should be a place where people work together to create articles that can inform people who read the articles (and have some fun with other editors sometimes), not a forum where we chat and discuss life's problems. While we appreciate your enthusiasm, it would be great if you could try to devote more edits to actual article improvement rather than "chatting". Finally, I understand that you, of course, as you've mentioned, have ODD, ADHD, and are still quite young. These factors all mean that it may be harder for you to do what we expect of you. That's ok. But at least make an effort to try, to show some maturity, and to restrain yourself from doing anything unnecessary. I don't know whether you've been told this, but what you put on the internet, is often very hard to take back. Think carefully about what you submit, because once you press that save button, it's going to be next to impossible to remove it from the Internet. Regards, Brambleclawx 21:35, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Alright. He did say that he wanted to see if I was here to make an encyclopedia or to mess around. I'm here to make pages, but Mono said that he wanted to block me from all talking. Look at his talk page. Ian (talk) 22:08, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
It's not about "he said this" and "he said that". Making pages is good, but to do that well, you need to understand just how pages are made. I can mentor you if you want, if you do as I ask. Airplaneman 22:26, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Apparently he was intolerant of my "continued myspacing" when I really wasn't myspacing. That was just a false thing about me. BCX read my page. Ian (talk) 22:55, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Then I have to agree with Mono's supposedly false claims. We're here to help; it's up to you if you want to accept it or not. We're not going to make you. I, for instance, have other things to do. Helping you is not my job. Airplaneman 00:55, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, Ian, but I'll have to side with the others too. It might not seem like it to you, but some of those were still a bit myspacey. I think the advice given on your talk page was a good idea. Airplaneman can mentor you well, and I also recommend that you stay away from usertalks as much as possible for a while, except for obviously necessary questions. Good luck. Remember, we can only do so much if you refuse to change.   Brambleclawx 01:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm good now. Look at Bluestar's Prophecy. Ian (talk) 19:04, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I have. It looks like a good start to me. Keep up the good work.   Brambleclawx 19:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks =} Ian (talk) 19:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I would sign your guest book if Mono would let me, and if you had one. Ian (talk) 19:46, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Ian, signing guestbooks is not the point of Wikipedia. They're just a little something that some users make for fun, which is fine, as long as it doesn't interfere with article building. Brambleclawx 19:49, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Alright. Anyway, I emailed Mono and he isn't emailing me back. What's wrong? Ian (talk) 20:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure. Be patient. Brambleclawx 20:28, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I'm slowly losing my patience. Ian, you don't need to email me for every little thing; you have a talk page, I have a talk page, and there's Special:Contributions as well as Special:Watchlist (BTW, my Gmail has a finite limit, unlike my private Yahoo! account...) So I guess you can infer the reason for me taking a Wikibreak? Airplaneman 01:05, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

SIPE

Brambleclaw, thanks, your advice on my SIPE draft page was very helpful. Just realized!

I just realized we registered our account on the same day! Today, October 23! Wow! Just that it took me a few months before I began actively editing while you started very quickly! Derild4921 17:55, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Actually, it looks like you registered 23 hours and 10 minutes before Brambleclawx registered :). Happy first Wiki-birthday to both of you! Airplaneman 20:25, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Airplaneman! Derild4921 22:04, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
I'd always been under the impression that Derild registered months after me. I did find out sometime ago, while I was looking at Derild's userrights and user contribs, and edit counter, etc.  I'm quite proud that I managed to figure out how to do things without too much mentoring, and no adoption!  . Happy belated wiki-brithday to you, Derild! Brambleclawx 15:51, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

As an aside, I've set up a website for myself, hosted by Tumblr. I've allowed posts from anyone (under the "ask me anything" tab), so come by here if you want to "myspace", so it is kept at a minimum here (since you don't have email enabled). Airplaneman 00:43, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Balla & Vajna Projects

Hello there. Balla & Vajna Projects is a non-profit organisations, as it was written in the description. The web page of the organisation is not yet ready, so maybe when that will be launched it will be OK for me to create an article for it on Wikipedia, considering the webpage as an independent reliable source.

have a nice day. --BallaVajna (talk) 15:56, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Please read WP:Notability (organizations and companies). Also, the use of third party sources are encouraged. Brambleclawx 21:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey

I'm joining the wiki warriors group and also I'm just wondering how many of the books have you read? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Black60dragon (talkcontribs) 17:58, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

I Have read every one of them, except Night Whispers, which I will read as soon as it reaches my local library. Remember to sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~. Brambleclawx 23:32, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

K thanks and yeah I've read all of them also and im reading Night Whispers right now. I think in Firestar's Quest when he gets back from staying at Smudges place he gets Cinderpelt, Graystipe, and Sandstorm together and they think he's going back to being a kittypet. Then he tells them about SkyClan and that their leader came to him and he has to rebuild the lost clan but only takes Sandstorm and leaves the others in charge of the camp while he's gone. Im not sure I'd check but my friend has the book. Black60dragon (talk) 00:48, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Warriors role call

Hello Brambleclawx. You have listed yourself as an active contributor of WikiProject Warriors, but as we are trying to see who is still active, we have put all active contributors under "status pending." If you are still active, go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Warriors and move your name to "Active." Move your name to "Inactive" if you no longer wish to contribute. You may always move it back. On December 27, 2024, all members who have not listed themselves as active will be moved to the "inactive" section. Thank you!

Thanks for clearing those problems for the GA review! Though you left me with nothing else! Derild4921Review Me! 23:22, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

No problem! Looks like you've got another GA! Brambleclawx 02:48, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey...

I can help with the GA review of When You Reach Me. Are you sick (your cmt about the fever)? PrincessofLlyr royal court 22:29, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm almost sick. Over the past few weeks, I've been getting kind of sick, then not sick. I'm fine. Or at least, I will be when I finish the essay I haven't started due tomorrow. I'll try to do my best with the GA. Brambleclawx 22:31, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Maybe that means you should be off WP and writing an essay instead!   No, it's okay. I got on this afternoon to do research for a paper and ended up reading articles and book reviews instead. Have you read The Book Thief? It's my newest article to improve. PrincessofLlyr royal court 22:46, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Wow. Even I think that the plot summary's too long, and I have a high tolerance for long plot summaries... Brambleclawx 22:48, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, plot summary definitely has to be cleaned up. The themes section might not be bad with some work and I think I can find enough reviews to make a halfway decent reception section. Just something I thought you might be interested in helping with. And reading. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find in Canada, but if you can, it's a good read. PrincessofLlyr royal court 23:00, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
I'll see. Knopf publishes in Canada too, I think. Brambleclawx 23:47, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

RHWOA

Please xplain your revert of the real housewives of atlanta page. I'm trying to improve the article by remvoing gossip, unref material and PR fluff but your reverts are making this difficult. I'm happy to work together with others for a result everyone can live with but we need to be following wiki policy in this or any article. 207.216.253.134 (talk) 01:00, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I was patrolling recent changes, and the reason I reverted that was because it removed references and text, so it looked like unexplained removal of referenced content. If those were unreliable sources, that's fine. Just make sure to avoid using personal pronouns like "I", "you" and "we". Brambleclawx 01:10, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Announcement

Hello! I'm The Arbiter, one of the coordinators for WikiProject Zoo. I am proud to announce the launch of a new portal: Portal:Zoos and Aquariums! ZooPro, ZooFari, and I worked hard to create a new portal for information on zoos, aquariums, and the associated projects and articles on Wikipedia. If you could head on over, take a look at our work, and maybe learn some more about zoos and Wikiproject Zoo, it would be great! Cheers and Happy Editing!

Public Policy Initiative looking for Online Ambassadors

Hey Brambleclawx. The Public Policy Initiative is looking to recruit Online Ambassadors to help mentor students who will be editing Wikipedia in the Spring. I thought of you because of your relative activeness and the generally good interaction I have had with you in the past as well as your experience with quality content development. I hope you are interested, I think we will soon be able to expand the ambassador program to many fields outside of Public policy including literature, so I hope you will help! Take a look at Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors and sign up and apply if you would like to help! Sadads (talk) 16:27, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

I may apply if it expands into an area in which I am more familiar. Public Policy of the US, is really not something I know much about at all. Thanks for the offer though. Brambleclawx 22:56, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
We are a little less worried about your experience with the topic area. Really, thus far, the work from Online ambassadors seems to have been answering questions, helping with Wiki-markup and with formatting of sections, and making sure the students are maintaining NPOV. Sorry it took so long to get back, I am on vacation and am missing a fair number of things on my watchlist, Sadads (talk) 17:59, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
That's fine. From the sounds of it that's basically a semi-adoption program for schools... and I don't think I'm quite ready to add another commitiment on Wiki... it's getting kind of hectic lately, and exams are just around the corner... Brambleclawx 21:43, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Joyeux Noel!

Warriors scope change

Hey, though not many of them are actually active, I thought I might as well think of a message we could send out to gather more people's opinions on the scope/name/logo change. How does this sound to you? I've come up with a sample message...

Hi Brambleclawx, as you've listed yourself as an active WP:WARRIORS participant, there is currently a discussion on the talk page about including Seekers in our scope. Please feel free to voice your opinion here, as all opinions are welcome. Thanks, :.:∙:∙∙:∙:.:|pepper|:.:∙:∙∙:∙:.: 23:12, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

How does this sound to you? :.:∙:∙∙:∙:.:|pepper|:.:∙:∙∙:∙:.: 23:12, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. Most active participants have already participated in the discussion, but it would help to decide the final course of action. Brambleclawx 23:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Great. I'll start on it (and not really liking using AWB, i'll do it myself. gasp! When was the last time anybody did that?) :.:∙:∙∙:∙:.:|pepper|:.:∙:∙∙:∙:.: 23:17, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh I did that last year to ask for help on Canadian Cat Association. I don't use Twinkle, Huggle, AWB... not even HotCat (though I've thought about using that one before.). Brambleclawx 23:20, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2011 WikiCup!

Hello, happy new year and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 15:02, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Nice to meet you. Feel free to join WikiProject Warriors. And personally, I don't miss the old forest too much, although I did like sunningrocks. Brambleclawx 01:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Joined the WikiProject. Personally, from what I can remember, I thought that pool that they had to go to in the new forest area was mysterious. Probably the intent though. What was that pool for again? It was the equivalent of the cavern in the old forest... I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 01:51, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Moonpool to replace the Moonstone at Mothermouth in Highstones.   The place where meddies and leaders talk to StarClan, and leaders get their nine lives. Also, there was a tradition of taking apprentices to the Moonstone before they became warriors, but this was never mentioned after Fireheart did it. Brambleclawx 01:53, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Ahhh thats right! It's all coming back. I'm gonna have to go skim through the books again! (: I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 02:00, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Hmm... Honestly, I dont remember. I want to say something with Adopt-A-User, but I don't think so. More than likely what happened was I saw your user name in some page revision history or something of that nature and was like, "Oh! Warriors! I remember that!" I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 02:15, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Maybe it was my recent work clearing out the missing articles from WP:Aircraft? Brambleclawx 02:17, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, that sounds about right. That's more than likely what happened. Then I saw your user name and was like, "Oh!...." I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 02:19, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah, well, I'm working on improving all the articles to GA, and maybe FA, and adding refs to the character pages... and a ton of other stuff. I'm probably going to end up wiki-bonked by February. If my tps are watching, you'd better not become bonked in february either Brambleclawx 02:27, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Ahh good for you! I look forward to working with you in the future! Good luck getting your articles to FA, I'l help any way I can! I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 12:50, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Funny thing is, bonking is hard to predict. For instance, I've kind of bonked since the end of the wikification drive, which is funny because I didn't plan to get involved in the first place. I should start working on a GA or something. Oh, and hi Flightx! I'm one of BCx's tps and you'll probably see me around sometimes! PrincessofLlyr royal court 19:34, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Nice to meet you. I'm sure I'l be working with you sometime! Maybe by the time I get 8,000 edits I'l have some talk page stalkers myself :P I'm Flightx52 and I approve this message 22:25, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

That'd be interesting. I would have requested it at some point... eventually.  . I'd have to take a look over rollbacking and how it works. WikiCup 2011 January newsletter

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to   The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by   Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to   Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1,   Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and   Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Just wondering

Why do vandals vandalize? What did we ever do to them? --Perseus8235 19:48, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

I suppose its because they like to think they've done something funny. Then they can tell their friends to go look at this article, which they put something that's so funny on it. Too bad by the time their friends look, its gone.  Brambleclawx 14:48, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Brambleclawx can I ask if you create any aircraft articles to please list them at Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft), this helps members of the WP:AIRCRAFT project to see new articles and help as required, thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 18:29, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I wasn't aware of the page. I will do so, as I plan on writing quite a few more. I'm not too good with categories, so I suppose that other users will be able to do this for me. Brambleclawx 02:13, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 February newsletter

So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to   The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and   Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round.   Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to   Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to   Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.

Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.

Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. RefToolbar

Please see my reply at Wikipedia talk:RefToolbar 2.0#Troubleshooting. Thanks. Kaldari (talk) 23:55, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

I've fixed the issue with IE7 (which nearly caused me to pull my hair out since IE7 doesn't have a Javascript console or debugger). Note that IE7 really hates letting go of cached Javscript, so you may still see the problem for a little while even after clearing your cache. Kaldari (talk) 02:34, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
