April 2023 edit

  Hello, I'm MaterialWorks. I noticed that in this edit to KSKQ, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. MaterialWorks ping me! 21:20, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@MaterialWorks
Please cite these materials.
I just added historical information. 35.132.132.13 (talk) 21:35, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
WHAT COPYWRITED MATERIAL?! BradSmith313Z (talk) 21:41, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
You copied and pasted content from other non-open licensed sources into KSKQ, which is a violation of Wikipedia policy. Please take some time to read WP:COPYPASTE before you get blocked for it. MaterialWorks ping me! 21:44, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fine.
What if I rewrote the information -- because I'm the KSKQ News Director. Will that suffice? BradSmith313Z (talk) 21:46, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
You can't edit your employers' article. That constitutes a conflict of interest. You should disclose it properly, then after that, you can request changes on the article's talk page. MaterialWorks ping me! 21:51, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
We're a volunteer station. I'm also trying to clean up a mess made by previous station volunteers. I don't get paid for this. BradSmith313Z (talk) 21:52, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Tell me then . . . . Who can edit our page? BradSmith313Z (talk) 21:54, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Anyone who doesn't have an external relationship with your station. MaterialWorks ping me! 21:57, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm a volunteer as a News Director. I help with the social media.
How can updating FACTUAL information be a conflict of interest? BradSmith313Z (talk) 22:00, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
The fact you're affiliated with the station at all makes it a conflict of interest, doesn't matter if you're a janitor or the owner. Like I said before, if you find the info in the article to be incorrect, you can request someone to edit it for you, provided you disclosed your COI before. 22:05, 1 April 2023 (UTC) MaterialWorks ping me! 22:05, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK.
So I have someone make the changes but I have to disclose I'm having it done? BradSmith313Z (talk) 22:09, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

You're disclosing your COI on your user page, to let other editors know about it. Then, you make a request on the article's talk page, where another editor can review it and either make the requested changes or not. If you're not sure how to make the disclosure, please check WP:DCOI. MaterialWorks ping me! 22:14, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
