Reliable sources

edit

Hi there. If you plan to edit Indian film articles, you need to familiarize yourself with our guidelines on reliable sources. We only care what reliable published sources with established reputations for fact-checking and a clear editorial policy have to say about anything. Your edit here was problematic because it introduced a faceless blog, movieboxofficecollection.com as a reference, replacing a direct Tweet from an Indian film analyst. Please keep in mind that "any-old-reference" is not the same thing as a relible reference, please stick to main stream Indian news outlets like IBT, The Hindu, and so forth, and if you're tempted to add anything that looks like a blog, please don't, because it will not be warmly received. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:08, 14 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sanam Re earns 25.82 crore in 1st week surpassing Fitoor collection with 23.31%.[1]

Your reply above doesn't do much to resolve the "movieboxofficecollection.com is not a reliable source" issue. If you wish to argue that it is a reliable source, you're going to need to establish that it has an established reputation for fact-checking and a clear editorial policy. If you're not able to successfully argue that, you're not going to be able to use it as a reference. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:38, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

So you are here to advertise your blog? How is that a legitimate academic endeavor consistent with Wikipedia's goals? If Taran Adarsh is a reliable source, why do we have to go through your spam to get to the facts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 08:34, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
The link to movieboxofficecollection.com is dead at present, so I can't look at it, but if it just a blog or a site that you maintain, then it will not be a reliable source from Wikipedia's point of view - see WP:Identifying reliable sources, particularly the section "Self-published sources (online and paper)". If the information in your site came from a reliable source and you want to add it to Wikipedia, you should cite the reliable source, not your site. If you don't have a reliable source, you shouldn't add it.
Also, see WP:EL#ADV: "you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent". JohnCD (talk) 10:12, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
