Beauty and the Beast (1991 film)

The 90-minute version of Beauty and the Beast was issued theatrically in IMAX format. I was following the example of Star Wars: A New Hope, where the runtimes of both versions are listed in the infobox. Is the Star Wars article incorrect? --FuriousFreddy (talk) 15:38, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Tear the World Down

Weird.. is that a new change to the Infobox_album template? When creating the article, I copy/pasted the code right from the doc... including the upper case "Album" that now appears to have changed to lower case. hm. Guess everything on Wikipedia is constantly changing! =D Thanks for the heads up on the reviews, I never would have known otherwise. Cheers! ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 03:16, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem. It is a pretty recent change and not every one is fully agreed upon the use of the template I used, i.e. whether to use it when there is no reception section. But it has changed; I believe there is a bot going through some articles and doing it automatically. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 03:18, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I think it will do fine until there is enough reason to even have a Reception section. And even then, I see no reason why it can't stay. The biggest problems I really had with it is that it's not the same width as the infobox and it hangs down low, but there is a [hide] button, and adding more content to the page can certainly fix the hanging problem. I guess it'll just take a bit of getting used to! ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 03:23, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes, really.

Removing links that aid navigation is not useful to anyone, hence the revert. Lugnuts (talk) 19:43, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I understand where you are coming from. But there have been several discussions from the Film project that have decided linking to genre articles is not helpful and thus was decidedly deprecated (I thought) as well as to year in film articles as they are WP:EGG links. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 21:07, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Awards = peacock?

I can't find any guideline or policy supporting your insistence to remove the mention of significant awards in the first sentence of actors' articles. While this is not my main field of Wikipedia editing, point #5 in MOS:BIO#Opening paragraph seems to suggest the opposite, and I can't find anything in WP:ACTOR to suggest otherwise, despite your occasional claims to that effect. Could you point me to a guideline which states that significant awards must not be mentioned in an article's lead? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

See the last bullet point here. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 12:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the pointer (I was looking under "Style"). The precise wording of that section and its history suggest to me that it might not apply to a lead section which consists of a single sentence. After all, it says that awards should be mentioned in the lead section (just not in the lead sentence). Your removal, at least in the case of Bryan Brown, left the terms "Golden Globe" and "Emmy" unlinked when they occurred later in the article; that's why I found your edit unhelpful. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:16, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for holding me to it. I should have added another sentence to the lede explaining the awards. I'll be more careful in the future. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 13:19, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Lede (sic) sentence

I've seen many article edits where your edit summary is "remove award from lede sentence". The word is spelled lead, as in "remove award from lead sentence". --hulmem (talk) 03:12, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Not in British English. Mike Allen 03:28, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you Mike. You may also want to read Lead paragraph closely. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 04:21, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Maybe back in the 16th century? Can you cite a source that "lede" is currently the predominant British English spelling? --hulmem (talk) 05:43, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
I've seen all Brits here use "Lede". I didn't question them, because it's really not a big deal... to me. Usually they do spell how a word sounds so I figured it was part of their vocabulary, in the 21st century. I don't think Bovineboy is British, perhaps he just fancy how it reads? Is this a problem? Mike Allen 05:56, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
It's not a problem at all; it's just an edit summary so it really doesn't matter. I guess I am just projecting my own tendencies to be instructive and to welcome other people with verifiable knowledge of the facts being instructive to me. If I consistently misspelled a word I would want someone to tell me. Since a search of [askoxford.com] and [Macmillan English Dictionary] and other online dictionaries finds no search results for "lede", and from this [Maven's Word of the Day] article, I've concluded that the correct spelling in American and British English is indeed lead. --hulmem (talk) 15:50, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

My take on this, as a British writer living in the USA, is that pretentious journalists and wannabes misspell lead as lede and use the word graph when they mean paragraph as a way of signalling that they're IN THE KNOW. I find it useful because when I read those words I know exactly who I'm dealing with. El Ingles (talk) 21:30, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Or, presumably in the case of users such as MikeAllen and Bovineboy2008, they are not pretentious journalists or wannabes but are merely following their lede. --hulmem (talk) 22:46, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Wow slow day on Wikipedia for you guys? Is this all there is to do these days is bitch about how someone spells a petty word. Btw, I use the word "lead". Thank you. Mike Allen 02:11, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but it appears you have misunderstood my rationale for initiating the topic, which I explained above ("It's not a problem at all..."), and you also missed that my last comment was intended to be humorous and not taken seriously. No one here is bitching. Have a nice day! --hulmem (talk) 02:28, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Deathly Hallows film

I want to know why you reverted my edits in the Deathly Hallows film article. Normally, if you are reverting an edit that is not vandalism, an explanation is expected in the summary. Are you implying I vandalized the page? --LoЯd ۞pεth 19:48, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Because I didn't understand why you changed it. You didn't provide a source explaining your edit, nor did you explain why the previous was wrong. Monsters Inc. 2

The film is just over 2 years in the future. For films that aren't going to be released until at least 4 years into the future, it makes no sense for Wikipedia to have articles on them. But, please save Monsters Inc. 2 to allow more info on it to be included within the next 2 years rather than merging it. Georgia guy (talk) 22:52, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Thank you for your diligence in maintaining the article and defending against vandalism. I have just one question and I will leave this to you to decide. I see that you have kept the Official Fan Club site off the external links list. While, at one time far too many outside sites were attempting to link there for promotional purposes, the fan club site actually constitutes a "Main Website" of sorts, where some information is referenced from on the article and further information can be found in the history section. The site does have editorial oversight and I believe is connected to the studio in some manner. Whether that fact adds to the promotional perception or not I won't say, but would argue in keeping the link only for it's informational value. Thanks again.--Amadscientist (talk) 07:50, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Image cleanup listing

I hope you are doing well. I'm asking all of the coordinators who haven't already taken a look at the spotlight image cleanup listing to consider leaving comments on the images. I'd like to get the ball rolling on either keeping or removing the images from the articles, but we need more than one or two comments to ensure there is consensus. I'm sure we all the know the importance of our project's spotlight articles, and if we don't have proper examples, new editors may make MOS mistakes (say that five times fast!) if they're referring to what should be our project's best articles (which may actually conflict with MOSFILM). I plan on asking the uploaders of the images and the main article contributors to join in as well later this week. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. --Happy editing! DSi Exclusive Games

A new games list needs to be added to the Nintendo DS Games list section for DSi exclusive games. There currently are two games not listed in any of the Nintendo DS #/A-Z game lists. I'm assuming because they are DSi exclusive, but are not DSiWare. One is System Flaw and the other is Monster Finder. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.190.12.47 (talk) 22:56, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

The start it. Don't just add a red link to a disambiguation page. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 23:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Alien vs. Predator (film)

Regarding this edit, the first release date is already listed. According to the article, the film was released on August 13, 2004 (first sentence of the "Box office" section). Where are you getting the date of August 12 from? That date is not given anywhere in the article. It makes no sense for the infobox to say it was released August 12, and then for the article itself to say it was released a day later. --IllaZilla (talk) 16:00, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Here BOVINEBOY2008 :) 02:05, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Well I'd say add it to the article and cite it, but IMDb isn't regarded as a reliable source (at least by WP:FILMS) because so much of its content is user-contributed. Nevertheless, the infobox should reflect the article, and the article gives the release date as August 13. --IllaZilla (talk) 08:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, that isn't 100% true. Some things from IMDb are considered reliable, as far as I know, including release dates, but I'll look around for another RS and add it to the article. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 11:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Harry Potter

Please tell me what you are refering to in the article you linked in your edits. From what I read, all the link states is if a number is 99, round it to 100, exc. What does it have to do with presenting a budget as X million and XXX,XXX,XXX? The second option gives more detail and is far better-looking to the eye than just X million. If we start doing the budget on wikipedia like that now, why not just go and edit a films gross to be X million also? They both are NOT EXACT numbers. As far as we know, the only people who have those are the people and studio(s) involved with the film.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 22:31, 23 June 2010 (UTC)ChaosMaster16

We should present information as it is given. The scientist in me says that 125 million and 125,000,000 are not the same, the former is approximate while the latter is exact. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 22:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
125 million and 125,000,000 are the same. Just like saying "laughing out loud" and "lol", lol is not aproximate. It means laughing out loud. If you havent noticed, the sites you are getting your information from does not state "approximately 125 million" it states "the budget is 125 million" and whether that is an approximation is irrelivant to the situation (not to mention the fact of budgets NOT being exct either). There is nothing on Wikipedia that states the abreviated form is better. So why should we keep the abreviated form when we can use the full form? Its similar to contractions. "It's" is a lazier way of writing "it is" but we still use it and it is still correct. IMO, we should stop listening to the lazy scientist in you and start looking at the entire equation.... No pun intented there.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 01:42, 24 June 2010 (UTC)ChaosMaster16
No, I understand your point of view. In my opinion, 125 million also looks cleaner than 125,000,000, but I'm not going to fight it any longer. Both are correct and its just a matter of preference I believe. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 02:04, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

2010 video games

Games only need an announced released date to be included in the category. Hence why the 2010 video games category was made back in 2008 & we currently have a category for the next year. [1] SNS (talk) 00:15, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

The documentation of the category says "video games first published in 2010." not "video games scheduled to be published in 2010." BOVINEBOY2008 :) 00:21, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
It has said that since the category was created (which as I mentioned was before 2010 began). [2]. Same thing with 2009 video games [3] & 2008 video games [4] which were both made before their years started too. SNS (talk) 01:39, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't make it right. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 03:06, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
So what do you suggest, be done? The description for the category be rewritten or the removal of dozens of future games currently on the category? SNS (talk) 03:41, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
I think you know what my preference is. Perhaps bring it up at WT:VG? BOVINEBOY2008 :) 04:21, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello?--75.84.100.54 (talk) 21:10, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
There are bold headers at the beginning of each. What you are doing is excessive. And you are adding plot information which is not helpful. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 21:12, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
What I am doing is NOT excessive; I am just trying to make things more... clear... understandable. Also, what's wrong with adding more plot info?--75.84.100.54 (talk) 21:49, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Plot should be kept basic in all cases. Articles should be made up of real world information, not trivia from plot. See WP:PLOT. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 23:29, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

A Green Day fan on: "Last of the American Girls"

-for one Bovine Boy if you look on ebay you can find plenty of juicy "Last of the American Girls" CD singles.h[5][6][7] -second I live in Wisconsin and I am still hearing it (A LOT MORE) on WMYX-FM as well as on alternative rock station WLUM-FM. The DJ on WMYX the mix explained that it was the newest from Green Day, and I have noticed that song has been climbing the station's top 20 weekend chart. And here's a link to the website showing the release of "Last of the American Girls" to modern rock radio: [8] -third it is REALLY frustrating when people think they know better off of zero evidence (no offense). So come on... -also why in the world would they spend money to produce a music video for song and send it to MTV... to promote it maybe?

read this carefully and think, and please don't sent an apology if you decide I'm right because I hate it when you Wikipedia guys do that —Preceding unsigned comment added by Don'tedit (talkcontribs) 00:22, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

There is different between airplay and a single. Find a source saying it is a single, not one selling it, and then I'll believe you. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 00:24, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Fine: I guess the CD single links didn't convince you, and that fact that it was released to airplay. And how many random songs have music videos produced for it and released to MTV (Reprise Records would never allow it). The DJs on the radio made it quite evident this was Green Day's latest single. I mean COME ON, HOW BLIND ARE YOU. IT'S A SINGLE, BOTH ON COMMERCIAL COMPACT DISC FORMAT AS WELL AS A RADIO PROMO: all of the facts are here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Don'tedit (talkcontribs) 00:31, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Some, including me, consider writing in all caps yelling. And all you have are a source saying that it is airing on the radio, which doesn't make it a single, and a retailer which is not a reliable source, no less eBay which is user contributed. Stop bugging me about it and try finding you source. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 00:40, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Dude how dumb are you. Isn't it obvious? Songs like this don't become popular all of a sudden with out promotion. Also that fmqb.com website first states when the song is becoming ready for airplay (thus it lists the songs "available for airplay"). It doesn't list when that song was first heard. Also check out this: for DJs at clubs and radio stations their is Promoonly.com: [9] "Last of the American Girls" was sent out for promotion. I'm logging off. I don't even like editing on this website, but I hate seeing Green Day info being mishandled. About Non-stop rating

Hi, No offense. I've added two rating on Andy Bell's Non-stop and change the form into the one of most album pages appear. I didn't want to start an editing war, but you seem to determine to revert the pages without noticing anything added. Sorry if I caused any confusion. I'm just trying Huggle for the first time and am bound to make some errors. Appreciate the patience. BOVINEBOY2008 14:18, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bovineboy

Thanks for the message. By the way, how come your message wasn't on my page? I was notified of a new message, but when I clicked on it, it wasn't there. I checked the revisions, and your message was the most recent edit, so I clicked on it, and it was there. But, when I am on my talk page and not on a revision, it's not there.24.44.119.71 (talk) 16:30, 30 June 2010 (UTC) So it might be a glitch. 24.44.119.71 (talk) 16:31, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind, it's there. 24.44.119.71 (talk) 16:31, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
