Hello, I'm PiGuy3. I noticed that you recently removed content from Al-Khilani Mosque without adequately explaining why. Moving pages without discussion + marking edits as "minor"

edit

Please stop renaming articles without discussion, as you did at Tomb of Salar and Sangar al-Gawli. The proper procedure to follow for moving a page is outlined at WP:RM, which involves a discussion at the talk page. Your explanation in this procedure should be based on reliable sources (see WP:CRITERIA), not personal judgement. Moving pages without discussion should only happen when you're fixing an obvious error, typo, or other superficial issue. Moreover, repeating a page move after it has already been reverted, as you did again at Tomb of Salar and Sangar al-Gawli, is very disruptive behaviour. This is a form of edit-warring, and repeating this behaviour multiple times can get you blocked from editing.

On another note, please do not mark your edits as "minor" unless you are making superficial edits that do not affect the information or substantial content of a page. See Help:Minor edit. Most or all of the edits you've marked as minor, from what I can see, were not minor edits by Wikipedia's definition.

Other than that, thank you for your other constructive edits. Please just be careful about the issues noted above. If you have any questions about those or about related Wikipedia policies, feel free to ask. R Prazeres (talk) 08:09, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Removal of content; self-published sources

edit

Hello Boredom889! You recently rewrote (diff) the Shrine of Abu Lu'lu'a page. However, in the process you removed a large amount of content that was both reliably sourced (see wp:rs) and highly relevant (or as we call it here, wp:due). Please do not remove such content in the future without stating a good reason in your edit summary, or preferably on the article talk page.

Also please be aware that sources which are published on websites or blogs such as Ali (2018) are normally not considered reliable on Wikipedia, because they fail the important criterion that sources used on Wikipedia should have a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy, which internet blogs and other self-published sources such as Iqra online do not enjoy, since they generally have not gone through a strict editing process or peer review. For more on this, please see Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published sources. For the type of sources that we do use, please see WP:SOURCETYPES.

Finally, I noticed that in your rewrite you regularly cited sources used by Ali (2018) as if you yourself had read and digested these sources. This is a form of Wikipedia:Plagiarism and should be avoided. Instead, please cite the source you are consulting (in this case, Ali 2018), and add the sources they are citing by writing something like "Ali 2018, citing Āthār Tārīkhī Shehr-hāye Kashān wa Naṭanz, p. 186".

To address these issues I have (diff) restored much of the old article, removed some of the content from your revision (mainly content that was only repeating the reliably sourced content that was already there, but also some content that I believe was wp:undue; this can be discussed on the article talk page if you wish), and updated or changed some other content from your revision (formatted citations, copy-edited, etc.).

Thanks for taking this into consideration, ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 14:46, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
