My name is Bonnie Lee Butler, I am a local artist. I live in Florida. I started painting, at a very early age. I painted with my mother (Sandra V. Lewis Rogers), and my grandmother, (Virginia Lewis). However since I was originally from Northern Illinois, ( I was born in Waukegan, Illinois). I painted more with my mother than I did my grandmother. ( who was born and raised in Danville, Virginia). As was my mother, Sandra. I started painting around age 8, with my mother. Since, I have painted with other artists. The most prominent artist, I have painted with is Robert Lewis Jr. (Mr. Lewis is an african American, artist). Best known as a highwaymen artist. Mr. Lewis is the person, who taught me to paint tropical art. However, I also paint, pop art, folk art, and other types of art. I especially love to paint tropical art, as I live in Florida. To quote another talented artist, (who is deasesed). Bob Ross, "when you paint, you live in your own little world." I love that saying, because when I paint. I do live in my own little world.I am also very proud of my grandaughter, Ariella Berger, as she is currently studying art, at the Chicago Art Insitute, in Chicago, Illinois. I guess painting runs in our family. We have a proud family, which includes. My uncle, (Robert Rogers), who was a teacher, and now is a published author. My aunt,( Nancy Rogers), who also was a teacher, and recently got her docturine in teaching. She currently teaches at a college in Minnisota. My father (Richard Rogers), eighty nine years old, and my mother (Sandra Lewis Rogers)who also lives in Merritt Island Florida. I am very proud of my parents (at the time of this writting they have been married for seventy years). Sadly, my mother has dementia, and is also wheel chair bound and lives in a nursing home, here in Merritt Island, Florida. My father, Richard was a carpenter, and still today fixes things around our home. He is also an avid golfer. So at eighty nine years old, he still gets around fine.
