Hi Bobby,

I undid your deletion of the photo on Open Carry article. Photos should not be deleted without discussion and without offering a replacement. That photo has been up for some time, and a group conscience was met on leaving it. Also, your explanation of reason for deletion (angle is NPOV) is confusing and would require further explanation.

I would be open to a replacement photo, and I think others would too, if you could find one that meets the Wikipedia licensing requirements. The current photo is slightly confusing, because of the snowball, but it does clearly show open carry, so is better than no photo for the article.

If you wish to delete it, please find a replacement that is within Wikipedia's licensing, upload it, and post it on the article's talk page for the consideration and discussion of others.

Thank you! Eliza ElizaBarrington (talk) 08:51, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Usernames are optional

edit

Hello BobbieCharlton: Usernames are optional at Wikipedia. As you noted on your user page, "please be kind."--99.60.184.133 (talk) 20:35, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, they are optional, but people often use multiple "quad" numbers instead of User names to conceal their actions. They also do things like blank their user pages, to conceal the fact that they've been blocked from vandalism. I prefer greater transparency. BobbieCharlton (talk) 20:54, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hello BobbieCharlton: You and I both like transparency. As you know, users are able to create thousands of user names that do not reveal who they are. You know my IP address but I do not know yours. In addition, I do not know the real names of most of the account users who edit these articles. If your real name is Bobbie Charlton, then you are unusually transparent. Regarding the charge of vandalism, I thoroughly disputed that charge and my ban was swiftly removed. I have great respect for this encyclopedia. Furthermore, regarding transparency, have you also noticed that many sophisticated users "archive" their pages. Is this merely another way of blanking a page? Fortunately, there is a history for all editing!--99.60.184.133 (talk) 22:14, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Bushmaster Firearms International".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
  • Sign and date your posts with four tildes "~~~~".
  • If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

Please take a moment to review the simple guide and join the discussion. Thank you! --Amadscientist (talk) 06:57, 22 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is a friendly reminder to involved parties that there is a current Dispute Resolution Noticeboard case still awaiting opening comments from participants. If this dispute has been resolved to the satisfaction of the filing editor and all involved parties, please take a moment to add a note about this at the discussion so that a volunteer may close the case as "Resolved". If the dispute is still ongoing, please add your input.--Amadscientist (talk) 07:18, 22 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
