I originally incorrectly nominated your page for speedy deletion for being Patent Nonsense. I have since correct that to being an article about a web site that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject (WP:CSD#A7) Guycalledryan 07:41, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have reverted the addition of your user box to Paul Atreides because I don't think such usage is appropriate.

There are acceptable ways of including external links, but only if notable. I'm not sure Dunepedia qualifies.--SandChigger 16:51, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use image

edit

Per Wikipedia:Non-free content, fair use images are not to be used in userboxes or templates or on user pages or talk pages. Your use of Image:FrankHerbert Dune 1st.jpg is therefore inappropriate, and I am removing it. TAnthony 17:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Rik mayall.jpg

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Rik mayall.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Rik mayall.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Rik mayall.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:23, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Screwdriver.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Screwdriver.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spamming Dunopedia

edit

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Dune (novel). Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. IPSOS (talk) 14:54, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Jessicadune.jpg

edit

Image:Jessicadune.jpg is a great piece of art, and I've given it a fair use rationale to avoid deletion; however, what is the source? Did it come from Stribling's website, or what? If it has not been published in some form, I'm not sure it falls under fair use, and also it may not be appropriate to illustrate the character because it's not a licensed use of the character. Let me know. TAnthony 18:20, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The image of Lady Jessica that I have uploaded is from the Stribling website. I am unsure as to whether or not he has given permission for it to be used but I have seen the image on several T-shirts. These may be fan made shirts but if they are not then it must be free-use image. The image was published in a comic book, I believe, but this is only based on the fact that Stribling is a comic book artist. I will look into it and see what I can find. Blurgle Fragle 13:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I did find the image on his site and on DuneInfo.com the other day, so I put the link in the image summary. I also created a stub article for Stribling to help with the image's notability. I'm not sure exactly how the fair use rules apply to something unpublished, but I like the image so we'll see if anyone takes issue with it. TAnthony 14:36, 21 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Paulatreidesstribling.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Paulatreidesstribling.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG 15:43, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dune images

edit

Your Paul and Leto images were tagged for deletion, so I added fair use rationale, etc. However, I also moved them out of the infobox in the articles; the film images are more notable and more visually appealing, and thus belong in the infoboxes instead of sketches. Thanks for your contributions. TAnthony 17:00, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Moxxofbalhoon.jpg and Jimmy Vee

edit

The image you added to this article lacks a fair use rationale, and so I've reverted your edit. If you wish to contribute images to Wikipedia articles, you need to familiarise yourself with the rules on providing a fair use rationale and the non-free content criteria. Otherwise, you'll run into problems with images you've uploaded being deleted. Cheers, Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 11:20, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image tagging for Image:Edward-heath.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Edward-heath.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:Snicketbookset.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Snicketbookset.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:45, 25 October 2007 (UTC). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:DeathDiscworld.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DeathDiscworld.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:55, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
