I looked at the NYC meetups and I want to ask, if you happen to know, if the monthly-Wednesdays ones are open to everyone, and if it's usually in the middle of the month as the October meetup isn't published yet. - Thanks, I wasn't completely sure if this specific activity is open to all or just for the local committee members discussions. I'm coming in 2 months when it's holidays for me, which spread on most of October so I'm quite flexible then and was hoping to adjust the trip to include this or another October-meetup. So I assume it will be updated at the next days, after tomorrow's meetup is occurring; I will check soon. You may want to read through User talk:Victoriaearle/Archive 16, to find out some of the complicated cases that WP:USESPS is meant to address, and to see some of the diversity of POVs among highly experienced editors. USESPS, by the way, is meant to be the "more" documentation that explains things in great (although I hope accessible) detail, because the main policy is necessarily somewhat oversimplified.
There are a few older conversations that might be interesting, e.g., Wikipedia talk:Third-party sources#Secondary. I don't have an organized list, but if the subject particularly interests you, then I could let you know if I stumble across any others. Cardio First Angel - continuation
Hi Bluerasberry, Thanks for your advice. I have use three sources from which I wrote an article. I wasn't sure where to put this article, if in the sandbox or somewhere else. I still find orientation in Wikipedia rather confusing. So, I am sending you my article as part of my message below. I wanted to inclose also a picture of the Cardio First Angel, so people would see how it looks like (my picture), but have no idea where to enclose it. Please let me know the outcome. Thanks Animall
The Article:
- The Cardio First Angel
The Cardio First Angel is a medical device which was co-invented by the cardiologist Prof. Dr. Christian Hagl. It has been developed to improve the consistency and quality of manual chest compressions during administration of a heart massage. There was conducted a clinical trial or a Pilot Study of the effect of a Cardio First Angel (CFA) device on CPR. The goal was to find out what was the effect by using a Cardio First Angel on patient survival. The CPRs were randomly performed on various patients using Cardio First Angel. It was concluded that with a Cardio First Angel used by the manufacturer’s guidelines a quality CPR was performed with consistency of the chest compressions. There was a study in Herzchirurgische Klinik des Universitätsklinikums München, Department of Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (IBE) where 205 people performed CPR. Firstly they performed CPR just with their knowledge using their hands only. The second time they were using the Cardio First Angel for resuscitation without any instruction how to use it. 38% achieved improvement with compression depth and 33.3% of these people had visible improvement in compression rate when used the Cardio First Angel. 66.2% of people said that they would be happy to use it again, because they didn’t need to be in a physical contact with the patient and because Cardio First Angel was very easy to use even without any prior knowledge. 100% of people placed Cardio First Angel in its correct position.
Christian Heinrich wrote an article in Spiegel Online about Cardio First Angel (CFA) expressing a view that this medical device is a great help in saving people’s lives after a heart attack. The main reasons being that it not only eliminates laymen worry in regard where to place hands or how strong should be a chest compression, but that there is no need of a contact with a patient. The Cardio First Angel consists of combination of springs, when correct pressure is delivered audio feedback by “klick” is heard. When the springs are released, another sound “klack” is heard. The bottom of CFA is from foam surface. On the top is a large red button on which lay rescuer applies pressure by hands. This device is purely mechanical and no batteries or electricity is present. This means that Cardio First Angel is always ready to use. OTRS - retracted paper claim
I am looking at an OTRS issue ticket:2016091910011371, which started at legal but has been referred back to us. The person contacting us has posted a requested edit on the article talk page but it is marked as answered. I see that you made a recent edit and my guess is you move some material for some reason. I see it is marked as answered and I'm tempted to simply toggle it back to an open request so that it is in our backlog but I wanted to check with you first in case I'm missing something.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:09, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
- Sphilbrick There is ticket:2016081010010489 also. It is a complicated case. The person got an answer from another user - they got templated "Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made." That response is not at the bottom of their message, but it could be moved to the bottom to continue conversation. Toggling this is one answer to prompt more discussion. There are many 20 requests here, all different, so it is hard to talk about them generally and I am not sure that there is enough information there for anyone to fulfill the request in a meaningful way. Creation of Maternal Health in Texas, Requesting Advice
Hi Blue Rasberry, I am an undergraduate student enrolled in the Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities Course at Rice University, and I am hoping to receive your advice about the placement of a new page. As of now, there is no article discussing "Maternal Healthcare in Texas", and so I am hoping to create a new article on this topic and place it under a parent article. There is an article called Healthcare in Texas, but this has been categorized as a list article, and thus wouldn't serve as a parent article. Therefore, I am looking into placing "Maternal Healthcare in Texas" under the parent article of "Texas." I believe maternal health is broad enough topic to merit its own category in Texas (along with geography, culture, etc in the Texas article), but I would appreciate your thoughts on this. - SBanda Thanks for writing. It can be challenging to know where to begin in Wikipedia. I recommend avoiding Wikipedia entirely in the beginning, and even avoid choosing a specific topic to research, and instead browsing literature until you find a topic which interests you. If you think that your topic might be "Maternal healthcare in Texas", then confirm that by identifying that there have been books, review articles, and other information resources produced on the topic.
- It is not urgent that you find the perfect permanent place for your information at this time. Placement is not usually a factor in determining whether submitted information is kept. You might try making a new article called, "Maternal healthcare in Texas", or this content might be a subsection in "Health care in Texas", or you might post it in "Texas". If you post it in Texas then I expect it would be moved soon after, because that is a general interest article that is supposed to only contain a few sentences about healthcare then link to a more detailed article. But there is nothing wrong with you posting there to see what response and support you might get. Good luck! Ping me when you have something for me to review. Creation of Healthcare in Nicaragua WikiPage, Request for advice
Hello, Blue Rasberry! My name is Michelle, and I am a Rice University student of Dr. Strassmann. I am currently working on starting a new article on Healthcare in Nicaragua. Currently, there is no comprehensive Wikipedia page on health or healthcare in Nicaragua, but rather an assortment of a few related narrow topic pages on “Abortion in Nicaragua”, “HIV/AIDS in Nicaragua”, and “Water Supply and Sanitation in Nicaragua”. Wikipedia currently lacks up-to-date centralized information on other important Nicaraguan health topics such as general health infrastructure, accessibility to healthcare facilities, infectious diseases, maternal health, and more. I hope to fill this gap by creating this page. You can find more information about what I plan to include on my proposed page on my user page.
I was wondering if you could give me any advice about how to increase traffic to this page. I was hoping to link it in the parent page of Nicaragua as well as a few other assorted pages, but I was wondering how to go about collaborating on Wikipedia. Nice to meet you in San Diego and I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation :)) I am collecting info and references to expand on an article about a type of nomadic raw/rough rug from Iran, called Gabbeh! The designs are lively and its simplicity shows the day-to-day features of their life! These nomads are still present and culturally connected to their nomadic traditions :-) so I thought there are more details to be added to wiki on their art and textile designs. I like to digitally add the variety of their designs to the commons and I had two questions about that: can you help me with those? There are digital files of the designs held by some Persian rug and carpet galleries that sell the rugs for financial profit. Do you know if I still can approach them to release their digital files under public liscence using OTRS even though they make money from sell of the rugs that are featured in those designs? Also do you know what is a reasonable number of digital files (photos) that can be added on the commons on one subject? Creation of Transgender Healthcare Article
Hi Bluerasberry, I am working on the creation of an article specifically about transgender healthcare for a course as a part of the WikiEducation Foundation. My professor, Diana Strassmann, suggested I leave a note on your talk page as you have experience working with both medical and LGBT issues.
My current plans for the article involve consolidating and expanding upon the information available in the healthcare section of the Transgender article as well as the transgender section of Healthcare and the LGBT community. In particular, I will focus on access to healthcare for transgender people around the world, not just in America. Do you have any other recommendations for content that I could add to improve the information available on Wikipedia?

- Brookeenglish Nice to meet you. Could I invite you to comment at Talk:Intersex_surgery#Requested_move_4_September_2016? The discussion there is a rather deep issue and if you look at other people commenting there, you might find additional people who could advise you about where content gaps exist in this space.
- When people think of transgender health, topics like intersex surgery come to mind, but more mundane than that are things like hormone treatment, and then the most common need is routine access to basic care like family medicine treatment unrelated to gender for people who happen to be transgender. You have picked an excellent undeveloped space. Consider also posting to WP:LGBT. My advice for getting started is to identify good sources in academic literature first, then decide your Wikipedia focus. Without good sources to cite it is not productive to find gaps in Wikipedia, because Wikipedia's gaps can only be filled with information from the sources you find. The WikiArte (Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamerica) edit-a-thon is a global campaign to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Latin American arts and culture and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. Featuring an opening Artists' Panel at 10am, with Sol Aramendi, Sharon Lee De La Cruz, and Marisa Morán Jahn, to be moderated by Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, curator at El Museo del Barrio. The Museum of Modern Art and Fundacion Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros are uniting with international allies to focus on the lives and works of Latin American artists, architects and designers. With keystone events scheduled for October 22 in New York City and other cities throughout the month (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Caracas, & others), the campaign aims to further similar goals to Art+Feminism.
