Please don't blank the page

Please don't blank the Joseph Patrick Moore page. Thanks. --Awiseman 15:23, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Don't blank the page

edit

Don't blak the Blue Canoe page, even if you want to get rid of it, that isn't how Wikipedia works. Let it go through the normal delete process, and say on there that you want to delete it, and then it will go away altogether. --Awiseman 19:55, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

We have to let the sequence of events at an AfD follow through. Blanking pages, even those that you have created, is still considered vandalism. Ryulong 20:22, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppetry case

edit

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Bluecanoe for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Awiseman 19:57, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • At 14:47 I asked for our account to be deleted. The spam from the sock-hoppers occured after this (as I have been doing some investigating of my own). Does this make sense? Why would I ask for the Blue Canoe Records account to be deleted and at the same-time be orchestrating some sort of mischievous campaign? This is clearly a cruel joke!! I will wait patiently for the account to go through the deletion process. bluecanoe

Time to take a breather

To whomever this user may be:

As you are doubtless aware, Joseph Patrick Moore is under deletion review. I've recommended that the article be kept (barely), giving the subject the benefit of the doubt. However, apparent recent conduct on your part might place the article in jeopardy. A few suggestions for you:

  • Please edit Wikipedia from one account only. I'm not aware of the relationship between this account, User:Bluecanoe2, User:Sallyroberts28, and etc., but use of multiple accounts to inflate the support for a proposition is contrary to policy. If you're doing it, don't.
  • Please read and understand WP:AUTO and WP:VANITY. While I'm not an administrator, and have no power to block or ban users, I would like to make the following recommendation:
    • That you refrain from making edits to Joseph Patrick Moore, as there is an apparent conflict of interest in your position at Blue Canoe Records. You may continue to make suggestions on Talk:Joseph Patrick Moore, which other editors will incorporate into the article; however, you should let editors who have no connection to Moore perform the actual edits.
    • That you refrain from adding links to this article, or to any publicity websites concerning Moore or Blue Canoe Records, to other articles within Wikipedia. Again, propose on the talk page.
  • Please take a look at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Carl Hewitt; which concerns the case of a computer scientist who attempted to promote himself and his research on Wikipedia.

I'd like your stay here to be a pleasant one; however, please keep in mind. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and we are not to be used for publicity. Excessive linking to a subject is often regarded as spam and treated accordingly.

Thanks for your attention,

Apology, offer, and a note about the photographs

edit

You are obviously not familiar with Wikipedia culture, and I apologise for the terrible treatment you have encountered here. As an encyclopedia, we're often abused as a free listing site by commercial spammers, and I think you have been mistaken for one of those. As you're probably painfully aware by now (sorry) there is also a certain exaggerated tendency to reject anything that suggests vanity.

I am at present engaged in a "clean" rewrite of the article about JPM at User:Tony Sidaway/Sandbox/Joseph Patrick Moore using easily available newspaper articles in, for instance, the Memphis newspapers Memphis Flyer and The Commercial Appeal, the Atlanta edition of Creative Loafing, and so on. Obviously an artist of JPM's standing, recognised talent and experience merits an article in an encyclopedia of Wikipedia's breadth, but there are currently certain hoops that one must jump through in order to make such an article undeletable. I'm prepared to do the hoop-jumping because I think we've too much about pop artists and are lacking in depth coverage of real life musicians.

Any help you can provide would be welcome. Email me at f.crdfa@gmail.com and I'll explain the kind of help that would be useful. You probably have it to hand but don't know how to present it.

There is a minor problem with the photographs you uploaded. We can't be sure that you are saying that you own them and are assigning them for free public use! Please read the GFDL license, ensure that you have publishing rights to the photographs you uploaded (Image:Decade big.jpg and Image:Jpmmain1.jpg), and decide whether you really wish to assign them to be used with attribution to Blue Canoe for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. If you do, click each of these links and edit them to insert the text {{gfdl}} and explain that they are the property of Blue Canoe Records. Or else do nothing, and I will assume that you do not want those pictures to be used under the Gnu Free Documentation License (GFDL) and they will be deleted from our site and we will relinquish all rights to them. There are deadlines but don't worry about them. The photographs can be uploaded at a future date as long as they are properly licensed to GFDL as described above. Again if you don't want your photographs to be distributed freely you need do nothing and they will be deleted fairly shortly. --Tony Sidaway 01:09, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
