Do you remember HP4? When Croutch acts like him? Anyway, this is my idea. Mad Eye is spying while helping Harry and the others, and he gets killed by Neville. Neville uses Mad Eye's eye and a potion to look like Mad Eye. Then he gets to the kids, and attacks them, and things go from there. Of course, I have no problem if he lives.
