Question from Blu83fir3
editI'm a new user to the site and I was just trying to upload all of the information I have for my band. I was following another band's wiki when I edited but I didn't really know what I was doing.
I by no intentions meant to cause trouble. So you can't make multiple edits to your own created page?
Is there a way to test the page without uploading it directly to the site?
Once again sorry,
blu83fir3
P.S. I looked all over the net for Wiki guides but found nothing so I was sailing blind on this one.
- You can edit a page you created, but removing deletion notices from them (or any other page) is not allowed. You can use the "Show preview" button to see how your text looks like, without submitting it for everyone to see. Kimchi.sg (talk) 10:37, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about all the confusion Kimchi, It definitely will not happen again. How do I make my new article a viable one? I.E. how do I prevent it from being deleted if I believe it deserves merit? Blu83fir3 (talk) 16:21, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
So from what I understand, someone other than myself can write the article and it will deserve merit and not being deleted? But what proof would there need to be to prove that it is in fact another person(s)? Also, by referencing I cannot use blogs? Does it have to be an interview? I thought you could reference websites (i.e. blogs). I also know I can use video, books and other printed materials for references. Blu83fir3 (talk) 16:32, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- The valid references for a band would have to be reputable sources such as, reputable newspapers (many have online websites), news websites(cnn, MSNBC, etc), magazines, reputable books, links to billboard chart listings. Blogs, Internet forums, Myspace, etc are all not valid sources for Wikipedia. Basically, if your band is not on one of the major charts and has not been covered by a reputable mainstream media source, your band would probably not meet Wikipedia's standard for notability.WackoJackO 22:17, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Shed loose the armor has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Shed loose the armor. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Speedy deletion of Shed loose the armor
editA tag has been placed on Shed loose the armor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. WackoJackO 09:08, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Shed loose the armor. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. WackoJackO 09:10, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Shed loose the armor. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. RayTalk 09:12, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, you really shouldn't be creating articles for your own band on Wikipedia. If it is notable enough, someone else will create an article. Also, your article needs to have valid references(not myspace, blogs, forums). For edits tests, you can use The Sandbox (which is a place to make test edits/articles. If your article is deleted, you can also request that an administrator temporarily "userfy" it for you(add it to a subpage of your userpage outside of the article namespace)WackoJackO 10:38, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
