vandalism by masqueraders edit

If someone knows your password, change your password. I've got no sympathy. --Trovatore 16:19, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

To change your password, click on the link for "my preferences" (probably at the top of the screen) - enter your old and new passwords and save. --OpenToppedBus - Talk to the driver 16:29, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Message from Community Justice edit

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! Mahogany

Vandalism / sock puppetry edit

You left a message on my talk page out of the blue even though I had never interacted with you before. You said you had been blocked because someone used your account for vandalism. Yet you had never been blocked. I found that I had warned Martin Van Buren (talkcontribs) about vandalism and that he had subsequently been blocked. That's where the suspicion of sock puppetry came from (a user isn't allowed to create a second account to get around being blocked).

Also note that you are responsible for the security of your account, just as in every area on computing. You are responsible for any edits made using that account. Use a secure password, don't leave it unattended, and log off when you've finished.

If you think you know who is misusing your account, does he have a Wikipedia username? If so, why not let someone know, instead of referring to this person using expletives. If he isn't a user, how can he be blocked (other than blocking your account)?

Finally, I'm not an administrator, so can't take any action. Please report any problems to the relevant subpage of Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. JRawle (Talk) 23:16, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

User notice: Blank2 edit

====Regarding edits made during May 9 2006 (UTC)==== Please do not replace Wikipedia pages or sections with blank content. It is considered vandalism. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. If this is an IP address, and it is shared by multiple users, ignore this warning if you did not make any malicious edits. Mahogany 16:20, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Impossible unless you share an account with a friend. (Which is very unwise!!) Mahogany (Your username is in the history for page blanking so don't try to hide it it will only make things worse!)
