Re: Jeff Hershey

edit

I'm not responsible for the deletion of the page; in fact, I contested its deletion, but another editor pursued the case and the consensus of Wikipedians was that you are not notable enough for inclusion. If you think you deserve your own article, I'd start by reading WP:COI, since anything you write about yourself on Wikipedia will be treated as suspect. Other than that, you'll have to make a case at Deletion Review that your article should be restored; to do so, I'd recommend demonstrating, with third-party sources (like magazine interviews, album reviews, etc.), that you meet one or more of the criteria listed here: WP:MUSIC. That's what you'll need if you want that article back. I'm afraid I won't be much help, since I honestly don't think I can scrape up sufficient evidence on my own to convince anyone else here that your article should be restored. Jeff Hershey (Musician) Deleted Page

edit

Hello There, My name is Jeff Hershey. I am a past and present professional international touring musician. I see that my biography page was recently deleted by you. I have been trying to figure out why this is? I have many, many resources to back up all claims. Now when you search my name on Wikipedia, it directs you to a page of a band I was formerly in and is now defunct. The information on that page is highly outdated and incorrect, as well. Please help. It's obvious to me that there was not enough research done. Many resources can be found at www.jeffhersheyandtheheartbeats.com Thank You Blanks 13 Blanks13 (talk) 10:22, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jeff. I saw you left the above note on my talk page.
Having an article about you deleted must be immensely frustrating. I empathize with you.
The article about you was unencyclopedic in tone. But in the end, the article was redirected because it did not meet the guidelines summarized on the page WP:42.
If you would like the Jeff Hershey redirect to be deleted instead of being a redirect to a defunct band, please let me know.
I hope the other editors who you wrote to have sufficiently answered your questions about why the article about you is gone.
May I please ask you a favor for the future? Please do not write messages about the same topic to four different users. Instead, please start a discussion on a page such as Talk:Jeff Hershey; then, if you must write to several users individually, tell them to go visit that discussion.
If you would like to reply to my words, then please cut and paste your words and my words back onto my talk page.
Kind regards, —Unforgettableid (talk) 17:15, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for all of your helpful information! I have many resources that can be found online. National and international press to back everything up. What would you recommend I do from here. I do need a page. Should the old page be deleted? It is definitely not a defunct band. Is that what this is saying? Am I able to start a new page with current and correct information? Again, I am not the one who started the original page. A fan did.
Thanks. Blanks13 (talk) 20:17, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I suggest you not start a new article before finding a few sources that fulfill the requirements summarized at WP:42 and checked them with us. Otherwise, you are likely wasting your time. It takes us only a few minutes of effort to delete an article that took hours to create.
Once you find sources, message me using the following procedure. Click "Edit" to edit your talk page. Only then, use cut-and-paste to move the source code of this conversation to my talk page. Tell me what sources you have found.
I will likely then either:
  • explain why your sources don't meet WP:42, or
  • encourage you not to create an article. It's almost impossible for anyone to write an article about themselves that's unbiased and neutral enough for us to accept. Really, even if you find good-enough sources, it's best for you to wait for someone else to write a new article about you.
Good luck!
Kind regards,

Thank you for registering for an account on Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary every time you edit an article. (It's a nice favor to also include an edit summary when you edit a talk page, too.) The summaries are quite helpful to people browsing articles' history. Thanks! —Unforgettableid (talk) 17:19, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
