Actually, I changed out the links for a link to the category. Click on it - it has everything needed. That list was overloaded, in any case - other people's religions are other people's religions: Hinduism is not "occult". Frater Xyzzy 20:30, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Then list those aspects... Tantra for example was already in the list, so Hinduism didn't really need to be. I don't necessarily agree that a secret society is automatically occult.... Frater Xyzzy 20:37, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. That is what the root of the word occult means historically. It is now used in the sense of "the occult" which is a specific sphere of disciplines: Astrology, Divination, Magic, etc. It does not any longer apply to all "hidden" things, or we would have to include Electricity as an occult topic, which it is not. I think it is best not to use an overbroad meaning of "occult" for wikipedia purposes. Frater Xyzzy 21:27, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, the real question is, how should it be used on wikipedia such that it is easy to find useful occult information without cluttering up the category with knick-knacks which are only vaguely related, for example, ghosts could be considered "occult" because you can't see them, but Category:Paranormal is a much better place to put that article than occult is... Categories

edit

I see why you are having trouble with people removing categories: you are not using them correctly. Please see WP:CAT for instructions, but in general, if B is a subcategory of A, and B is the narrowest category into which the article fits, you do not ALSO put the article into A. In this case, both "Fraternal and magical organizations" and "Nazi mysticism" are subcategories of "Occult" - so you do not also put the article in Occult as it is ALREADY in occult, in a subcategory. Also, when you do this [[Category:Occult| ]] - adding the vertical bar and space - that means that the article is the MAIN ARTICLE for the category, and there is NO WAY Odin Brotherhood should be the main article of category occult! Hello - Mr. Mirabello has stated that he wants to sever all ties with wikipedia due to what he perceives as oppressive policies by some administrators. Please respect his wishes and cease editing his namespace. If you would like to speak with him directly, I can give you his email address. - WeniWidiWiki 22:44, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa (talk) 18:56, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
