Keisha Lance Bottoms

Hello, I work for the communications team for Keisha Lance Bottoms and it appears that you have now made this page a protected page and we are trying to update the bio and image. Please advise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keisha_Lance_Bottoms jjspruielJjspruiel (talk) 18:00, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

  • Yes, it was protected as a number of IP accounts were removing sourced material and adding unsourced material. See WP:V. If you wish to update the page, you can do so by adding the template {{Edit semi-protected}} to the talkpage, followed by the changes you wish to make. Note that all changes must be sourced and comply with other Wikipedia policies. Also, since you have a connection to the subject, you will need to read WP:COI. Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 18:06, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

Đỗ Mười editor

Re your comment at ITNC " Ironically, most of this good article was written by an editor who is now indefblocked after an argument with the admin who originally blocked them ... who's since been desysopped." - Who is the editor in question? Have we lost a productive editor? Is the block fully justified or not? Is there scope to unblock? No, I don't mean just go ahead and do it, but maybe opening a discussion at a suitable venue such as WP:AN where the issue can be fully debated. Mjroots (talk) 13:42, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. Looks like we're done then. Mjroots (talk) 14:09, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

  • You'll need to update the Draft article with that information (and sources, of course). Then it can be restored. Let me know. Black Kite (talk) 17:08, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for taking note of my humble list at WP:TRM relating to errors on, or just about to be on, the main page. The diligence shown by you and your colleagues has resolved more than 500 issues in just 78 days. Your efforts are more appreciated than you can imagine. Talk page access

After you blocked El O'Rons for a legal threat, I feel their talk page access should be revoked for this. Snuggums (talk / edits) 14:16, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Muhammad_images (no, I don't want to reopen the issue)

I happened to be reviewing this page and noticed almost all of it is struck through as an artifact of this edit, which looks exactly as if it was meant to strike through one word. Surely that was simple error on the part of Mitch Ames?

Ordinarily I'd just correct it but 1) this RFC is closed 2) was pretty sensitive and 3) it's 6 years old, who cares? On the other hand, it did make it pretty hard to read. As one of the closing admins I'm seeking your advice. Pinkbeast (talk) 06:20, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

It was a simple error on my part, which I've now fixed, for the sake of readability. Mitch Ames (talk) 06:32, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. I guess I tried the wrong talk page - sorry to Black Kite for the interruption. Pinkbeast (talk) 07:05, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

White privilege

Any problem with reducing protection back to semi? It was one editor disrupting an article (uncharacteristically, I think?), so preventing everyone from editing seems suboptimal. If this was done as a favor to AQFK to allow them time to cool down and not get blocked, it's been 2 days since they edited anywhere, so I think it isn't needed any longer. If that happens again, it seems like a block would work better than protection. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:30, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

I just wanted to point out that Black Kite and his Aspersions would be a pretty decent band name. Shock Brigade Harvester Boris (talk) 01:38, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

Damn, I was going to name my band that. I guess I'll stick to my second choice, which is Anaphylactic Shock. (We're pretty hard rock.) Softlavender (talk) 02:36, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

In light of Jin Yong's Death today

https://www.google.com/search?q=jin+yong&source=lnms&tbm=nws&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiwqtOzirHeAhXkmuAKHVz-CQsQ_AUIDigB&biw=1502&bih=810

That's just the English links...Asian media is exploding from his death...

It reminded me of this absolutely atrocious article deletion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_fictional_versions_of_real_people_in_Jinyong%27s_wuxia_novels

Basically, a bunch of ill-informed English-speakers with no inderstanding of this author's massive, humongous, incomparable historical standing and cultural influence in the Mandarin-speaking world decided that article should be deleted, citing reasons that easily could be applied to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_historical_figures_dramatised_by_Shakespeare.

Do you still have the deleted text to restore the article?

  • Yes. Would you like it restored to your user space, or to a Draft? Obviously it can't be restore to article space as it is. Black Kite (talk) 01:06, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Your close

Hi, Black Kite - can you reopen the Winkelvi case please? I just added a subhead that needs admin attention and it is connected to that discussion. Atsme✍🏻📧 00:33, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

  • I only closed the main part - TonyBallioni closed your subhead, with MaranoFan now having been blocked. Black Kite (talk) 00:35, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
I didn't see the block - apologies for the disturbance. Atsme✍🏻📧 00:40, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
No problem! Black Kite (talk) 00:41, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Based on what little I've seen of your admin actions, you have always been a straightforward, common sense admin who knows our PAGs well and I hope you never stray from it. With that in mind, do you think I'm being unreasonable regarding my expectations for equal justice under our PAGs? I have communicated with Winkelvi, mostly with levity and occasionally to express my views, and there have been instances where I've agreed and disagreed in an article or two. I can't recall ever having any exchanges with MaranoFan. My position regarding the actions of both were what I deemed to be fair and reasonable - equal justice. Do you think I overstepped a boundary anywhere or that I have been unreasonable? Atsme✍🏻📧 13:53, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Lack of signature

Is there a reason for your recent lack of name in signature posts? It makes it very hard to figure out who said what you said. --Tarage (talk) 06:10, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder/Evidence. Please add your evidence by November 27, 2018, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Fred Bauder/Workshop. Indian Film Festival

Hi there- an article Indian Film Festival of Melbourne that had a few problems in the past seems to have been hit again, by what I suspect may be the original editor (who was blocked) under another account, as well as an IP adddress. At any rate, they reinstated what had been in the article before, having previously requested it be reinstated on the talkpage. I reverted all the changes, but as the ip changes were just from yesterday, would it be possible to reinstate page protection? Curdle (talk) 15:00, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

DYK for The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican

On 30 November 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are an English parody band whose "mission is to keep their spiritual father Val Doonican's legacy alive"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

AfD Discussion on Noah K

Dear Black Kite, as the article on Noah K's original contributor I responded to RoySmith's initial qualms with the notability of K and had been staying out of the conversation for a while to see what the consensus is. I had reached out to a very prominent jazz contributor via their talk page and asked if they would evaluate the article and K's notability and weigh in on the AfD if they had an opinion. They did, and wrote a lengthy and well sourced explanation of how K clearly meets WP:MUSICBIO #5 which is there in the AfD. Another jazz editor from WikiProject Jazz weighed in as well, detailing how K unequivocally meets notability standards, so it would seem to me that this issue is resolved. The editors who voted "delete" have not responded since the updates to the article, and so, I am wondering if you can weigh in on this (I'm not sure what protocol is for this type of thing). It seems like you have expertise in music, which makes a big difference in evaluating notability criteria in these more niche areas. Thank you, Artaria195 (talk) 17:21, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Request

I'd like to ask for a bit of assistance, and since you were part of the panel that reached the AfD result, I thought you'd be an appropriate person to ask. There have been multiple incidents of people recreating the deleted content from Wikipedia mirrors at redirects, as a way to circumvent the decision and community scrutiny. While some of the redirects were deleted and protected when this occured, a couple remain, and as a result, the deleted content keeps finding its way back into the main article via the edit history at the redirects. This problem could be avoided if the redirects could be deleted and redirected, in line with the original result, as recreation of deleted content. I think this should be routine, but I don't dare place a speedy tag. I'd be much obliged for your help. RGloucester 03:05, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
