National Junior Horticultural Association edit

Thank you for expanding the article on the National Junior Horticultural Association. It is important that the article be in your own words. Articles which violate the copyright of a publisher (including text taken from another web site) may be deleted as copyright violations, sometimes referred to as "copyvio". If necessary, please rewrite any text that was taken from another web site. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 01:03, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome edit

Hi Brent, and welcome! Glad you found your way to Wikipedia :)

I've done some formatting corrections on the NJHA article, and will do some more prose cleanup today. That should help avoid the article being deleted. Just a note, when commenting on any "talk page", be sure to sign your name using four tildes ( ~~~~ ), which will automatically insert your name and the date. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page. --NoahElhardt 15:31, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, this is all so new to me, i've been using wikipidea for some time now, it's my first attempt at making an article. Which, i totally botched the first time... oh well. I'm actually putting this in my report to the board saying NJHA needs to update it's style. --BJareske 15:36, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
You'll get a hang of it soon enough. One of the problems with this particular article is that Wikipedia requires all information to be verifyable. In other words, the same information has to be published elsewhere already. No "original research" is allowed. NJHA, however, doesn't have a lot of information on their website, so there will only be a limited amount of info that we can put into the article legitimately. How does the revised intro look? --NoahElhardt 15:49, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I said some of the same things during my time with NJHA, but of course only once to the board (nothing was done). My idea was to update NJHA some by getting it online, by creating an online community for youth interested in horticulture. The organization as it currently stands seems rather archaic, and will only work to attract youth who already have a reasonable amount of interest in horticulture and $600 to drop on a convention. --NoahElhardt 16:15, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Searching... edit

Hi Brent,

I'm not sure exactly what it is you are asking. When you search for National Junior Horticultural Association on Wikipedia, the page will come up. If you want other searches (such as "NJHA") to bring you to the same page, you need to create a redirect. This is done by creating the alternate page name (such as NJHA) and typing in:

#REDIRECT [[National Junior Horticultural Association]]

If this is not what you were asking, please clarify. --NoahElhardt 18:20, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just a note... if the above is what you had in mind, it would probably be best to create a disambiguation page for NJHA, linking to both the National Junior Horticultural Association and to other pages or future pages bearing that acronym, such as the New Jersey Hospital Association. I can help you with this if needed. --NoahElhardt 18:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

How to make a redirect edit

To redirect a page (1) to a different page (2), enter the following on the top of page 1.

#REDIRECT [[NAME OF PAGE 2]]

For example, to redirect the Cambridge University page to the University of Cambridge page, edit the Cambridge University page and enter:

#REDIRECT [[University of Cambridge]]

Hope that helps! Are you at convention yet? --NoahElhardt 01:02, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was a finalist for the Scotland scholarship, but Scottish Heritage USA never made a decision, but just kept putting things off forever. I'm not sure what their issue is, but they definetaly didn't handle things very professionally this year. Instead I'm about to start an internship with the local park service doing vegetational surveys. I'm not planning to run for officer again, and won't be at convention this year. Hope it goes well in Omaha! Are plans still in the making for a CA convention? --NoahElhardt 03:13, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
