Conference management system

edit

Hi

I'm about to revert your additions to Conference management system again for the following reasons.

1. The potential length of this list is enormous. I just googled "conference management software" and found page after page of sites, all making the same boasts about how great their system is. An exhaustive and short list might be useful.
2. The list is of little value - you might just as well suggest that users should do a google search (which they will anyway if they're looking for software)
3. Both these points are covered in an important wikipedia guideline about external links, WP:ELNO. Basically, links should go beyond being merely search results that anyone can find for themselves (#1 and #9) and we should especially avoid lists of suppliers (#14).

This phrase from the guideline is a good explanation of what links in this particular article should be: "Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject ".

Reverted again

I've reverted you again. Lets not have an edit war. There's no reason why these links should be in the article - they add nothing to it and there are many rivals that are used for many more conferences e.g Community of Science, Marathon Multimedia or Oxford Abstracts. andy (talk) 22:46, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
