Conflcit of interest editing edit

  Hello, Biologyfishman. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Andrew Evans (travel writer), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:14, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi Biologyfishman. I've added the above template after reading some of your comments at the Wikipedia Teahouse and the Articles for creation/Help desk. I've just added it for reference purposes, not because you you've done anything wrong. The template contains (blue) links to various Wikipedia pages that you might find helpful, but you might also want to look at Wikipedia:Ownership of content, Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Law of unintended consequences and Wikipedia:Notability (people). Please note that even though Wikipedia doesn't expressly prohibit COI editing, it is something which is highly discouraged. Editors do tend to be given a bit a leeway when it comes to any conflict-of-interest they may have while they are working on a draft because it's assumed that most major problems are going to be addressed during the Articles for Creation review process; however, things completely change once a draft, etc. enters the article namespace and such editors will then be expected to do their utmost to adhere to relevant COI guidelines as well as other relevant Wikipedia policies. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:29, 23 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
