French Page edit

Hello. I noticed you've made a change to the French language page, saying that there is an agency governing French in Louisiana. Here, I think the meaning of an "agency" is an organization that is recognized as having authority to make determinations about spelling, terminology, etc. We do not have any such authority in English, for example. This does not have to do with regulating when and where the language is used or encouraging its use, but in deciding what the language is, in a sense. Does the agency you mentioned in Louisiana have this role? Joeldl 04:06, 24 March 2007 (UTC) Sorry, I guess I meant "regulatory authority", not "agency" Joeldl 04:09, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correction - George Bush did not win the election edit

I think you did a excellent job explaining the Electoral College and how and why Bush was elected in 2000. Few people I have talked to understand how our Republic works and how we eventually morphed into a democracy. - GreyGh0st 20:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Who were the first americans? edit

Hi Billiot... It appears that much of your disagreement (and your claims that he is racist) is centered around two points: the question of "who is the first American?" and the issue of the peacefulness of the native cultures.

Regarding the "first American" issue, you might find this special by PBS to be quite interesting. Apparently archaeologists discovered a Caucasian skeloton that appears to pre-date the earliest known "indian" skeleton. They call it the Kennewick Man. There is currently a lot of debate over the issue, but I think that is where Storm is coming from.

On the second issue... the "Noble savage." It's actually quite an issue. The "Noble savage" myth was a backlash to the "bloodthirsty savage" myth. Both are untrue and both are racist. The truth is somewhere in between. Some tribes were fairly aggressive and some were peacefully. We have a very well-sourced article on the topic here: Noble savage.

I hope that helps and I hope you enjoy both of our articles. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 17:14, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

You can ignore any evidence you want, but the point I was making is that Storm's opinion is not coming from haltered of the Native Americans - it's coming from actual scientific and sociological discussions. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 16:34, 14 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Peersonal attacks will not be tolerated edit

The Message that was previously here was put here by an admitted Racist, Storm Rider, and as such it needed to be removed. Also please note the deliberate tampering with this talk page by said Racist in the removal of factual information from the top of the page that had outlined exactly what offenses to he had stated against my race. You will see that they do not deny that he did it and even had help from from the another Wikipedia Administrator as demonstrated by the note that I did not remove which can be seen below.--Billiot 10:43, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

One the same note please remove the accusations of racism from this page. ---J.S (T/C/WRE) 00:27, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

On the subject on weteher or not Joseph Smith Jr. was racist, you said that you were on a website that said that if someone form another race became mormon then thay would turn white. I would like to know where you got the information form (post a external link on my talk page at User talk:Miajmw). Also I would ike to note that the mormons are not racist anymore, thay now have all races in there religon now. I am not takeing sides here so do not go onto my talk page and call me a racist becuase I don't take your side (as I have said I am not takeing anyone's side.Miagirljmw14 19:35, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to note that the FLDS are the type of mormons that are racist (I am still not taking sides, if you would like to post on my talk page it is User talk:Miajmw).Miagirljmw14 17:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Latin translation edit

Hello,

I see that youur level may qualify you for a Latin translation, could you please translate for me the following text (taken from the Directorium Inquisitorum). It is most probably the result of a character recognition system. The scan of the page is available here if you need it - a rather bad one, I'm afraid.

Multoru. in clem. In primis si talis steterit in negativa firmiter, & nulla tenus (licet inductus per probos viros) fateri voluerit veritatem, feretur sententia, quæ videtur sapere vim diffinitivæ sententiæ per modum tenoris sequentis.

[...]

Take your time, just leave me a note when hou're done with it. If you translate it in French it will be fine ;o) but this won't be necessary. Thanks in advance, Michelet-密是力-Me laisser un message 05:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Latin edit

I am not sure whether you are familiar with a WikiProject or not (a description can be found here) but I'm planning on starting one for the Latin language. This is mainly because Latin is and has been such an important language in the history of western civilization but the article is only rated a 'C'. If you support my proposal then please sign your name on the proposal page here. 95jb14 (talk) 14:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU edit

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:08, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
