A Note from Billbillingsworth

edit

Hi everybody (et al),

I'm still pretty new to Wikipedia and may make a few mistakes. That said, I'm excited to be here and eager to contribute. I thought I'd get my feet wet by creating some pages on poets that I admire.

I'm particularly interested in the current poetry slam movement in the U.S. and Europe, and the history of science fiction. I'll be searching for gaps in the information on wikipedia and finding ways to fill them.

I appreciate any comments you have!

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Billbillingsworth! I am Pharaoh of the Wizards and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! Thanks for the tips Pharaoh of the Wizards! I've read through most of those links, and I think I'm getting better with the formatting!

Hi! Thanks for the heads up! I am completely aware that advertising and promotion are not allowed... Sorry if my edits seemed to come across that way. I'm very interested in the poetry slam movement and am interested in documenting some of the basic facts while it is still an ongoing entity.

A note about references

edit

Hello Billbillingsworth, I was just going through the article you created, Peter Nevland, and I would like to request that you read the policy on references. Blogs, sales sites like Amazon.com, MSN shopping, or blogs like digg.com are not considered reliable, third party sources, nor should sales sites be linked as an external link. You can also find out how to format the references properly here, and here. It might help you to review some of the basics of what Wikipedia is, and the core policies prior to creating any more articles, as this will help you become familiar with the procedures and policies. Cheers! ArielGold 05:07, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help! I've read through your suggested link on references, and I'll avoid that type of reference in the future! I also went through some tutorials on formatting and using the talk feature, so I think I'm getting a better feel for how to proceed!

Proposed deletion of Slam Poet

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Slam Poet, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Essentially a dictionary definition. Should be transwiki'd to wikitionary and then deleted

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Da'shade Moonbeam

edit

The article Da'shade Moonbeam has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The current sources simply seem to be passing mentions and certainly not solid in-depth coverage and my searches also found nothing better than said passing mentions as well. Nothing at all to suggest fully satisfying the applicable notability guidelines.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. December 2017

edit

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Estelí Gomez, from its old location at User:Billbillingsworth/Estelí Gomez. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. KGirl (Wanna chat?) 11:24, 31 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
