Speedy deletion nomination of User:Bigeasybeardco/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Bigeasybeardco/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Drmies (talk) 01:04, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia isn't to be used for this and if your teacher really gave you this assignment, it was inappropriate of your teacher. Yamla (talk) 15:38, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

The assignment was to create a Wikipedia page for our brand. I created the page and posted it to the sandbox and I had no intention on publishing it publicly. I would like to know how to get the page back so I can at least turn it in.

All edits to every page on Wikipedia appear in the Recent Changes feed, there are no private editing areas. Private editing needs to be done in a word processing program on your end of the computer. I have emailed you the text of what you wrote. Do you intend to make any edits to Wikipedia? 331dot (talk) 09:29, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'll also note that you explicitly claim you are the copyright holder of File:18572 Big Easy Beard Co N 2 - Copy.jpg. Either that's true and this is not a class assignment but instead, outright violations of WP:COI and WP:PROMO, or this is false and you have violated WP:COPYRIGHT. Either way, it's really bad. --Yamla (talk) 15:40, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Apparently there is a misunderstanding here Yamla the answer is both are true. I am the creator of Big Easy Beard Co and I am a business student one of the classes I am enrolled in is social media marketing. The assignment was to make a Wikipedia entry for my brand (the company I own) is the brand that I chose. I received the text of the page from a different admin and I am satisfied with this resolution. To continue to block my access to Wikipedia is unnecessary and pointless. I don't care if you delete the article but to ban me is ridiculous you are using a very narrow view of the situation and putting me in a box that I don't belong in. As requested by the admins I requested a change to my user name and accepted the deletion of the page I created. I understand the mistake I made and would like this to be finally resolved. I don't appreciate that every time I open my email another admin has commented on the same thing the last three admins commented on. Delete my user name I'm good with that. Delete my page again sure go ahead. Blocking my IP address and not allowing me to contribute to the page as a private person is wrong and unnecessary and you are literally imposing a permanent punishment for a one time mistake. Bigeasybeardco (talk) 21:23, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
You may make another unblock request. You are blocked, not banned(they are different here) and blocks are not a punishment, but a means to end disruption. If you have edits you wish to make that are unrelated to your business, please say what they are. If you only want to edit about your business, there is nothing more to be done here. Wikipedia is not social media, so writing a Wikipedia article is an extremely poor assignment for a professor to give, and unfair to you as you cannot guarantee success. 331dot (talk) 23:13, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure why you emailed me, when you have a perfectly good talk page from which to ask questions. No, we don't "delete" accounts. I will have a look at the IP block. BTW, that whole "wrong and unnecessary" is a bunch of BS, of course. Drmies (talk) 01:36, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

OK, I see you've tried to make another account. I think that the easiest thing to do is to try and make an account from someplace else--not the place and device from which you emailed me, and not the place and device from which you tried to log in with that new account. And once you've done that, you should be able to log in to that account from your "regular" places. 331dot, I don't really know how to lift a hardblock, and I'm somewhat puzzled by the fact that the hardblock seems to affect a range, rather than the one IP this user was using when I blocked them. Drmies (talk) 01:43, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've lifted the prohibition of account creation; this user should be able to create and use an account. I suppose the next thing to do would be to remove the IP autoblock if they still cannot edit, but an account should permit that. (I will be away for a few hours after this if further comment is needed :) ) 331dot (talk) 01:54, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I created a new account and cannot edit. Harbingdeth (talk) 02:06, 5 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
