"Over-developed"
British and American dictionaries specify "overdeveloped". Please provide a reputable source, such as a modern Australian dictionary, that specifies "over-developed". Otherwise, I see no sense in having the Macquarie River article use a different spelling than every other article in Wikipedia. By "reputable source", I don't mean just one or two instances of such a spelling (or misspelling) in a newspaper. Anyone can produce such instances for just about any misspelling. Dictionaries are the standard. Chris the speller yack 16:44, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
F-4 Phantom photo
Thanks a lot for adding the photo - I was going to drop you a line to see if you have a photo of this aircraft from your trip to the RAAF Museum, but you beat me to it. Regards, Nick-D (talk) 08:44, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks also for reverting that vandalism to my user page earlier in the month - I didn't even notice it (until the jerk came back today). Regards, Nick-D (talk) 08:32, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Scott Reardon
On 3 September 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Scott Reardon, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that two-time world champion water skier and 2012 Paralympic athletics competitor Scott Reardon was the first person with a disability to win his state's water skiing championship? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Scott Reardon. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
thick as a brick
Please don't say other editors are as "thick as a brick". It is, a rather mild, insult. I know it can be frustrating at times when someone can't seem to get the point but insulting them does not help. By the way the other three they claim to be insults were not attacks at all. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 16:56, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to say it but no matter how many times it is repeated to them, we seem back at the same point (ie: they're slow to learn or understand). Bidgee (talk) 13:33, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Country Liberals
I have raised the Infobox issue on the Country Liberal Party talk page, if you wish to comment. Thanks, Welshboyau11 (talk) 09:32, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Hainan Airlines at SYD
The airline is no longer resuming service to Sydney. Source: http://www.global.hnair.com/NewsShow.php?id=0&xmlurl=../dynamic/cn/en/newsdate.xml. Snoozlepet (talk) 03:53, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, it's surprising to have two warring editors, who almost completely ignore advice and suggestions from other editors. They both remind me of some of the sillier teenagers I (attempt to) teach. HiLo48 (talk) 10:55, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Aussie categories
I note that you have had an altercation with one of the admins about a speedy move of Australian categories. I know that the way this has been done is very annoying and the rationale for the move is ridiculous, but please try to keep your cool man. I would say it probably pays to remember that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I have raised my concerns about the move on the admin's talk page, we'll see what eventuates. - Nick Thorne talk 10:22, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Took my frustration off Wiki, cooled of a bit now but still rather pissed off. Bidgee (talk) 10:25, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah. When people (such as the high school kids I teach) do dumb things, I try to work out why. In this case, I cannot comprehend why. And when people behave irrationally, rational discussion rarely solves the problem. Maybe time....? HiLo48 (talk) 10:28, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- HiLo48, I'm sure you know from your work as a teacher that if someone does something which appears dumb, there is always one simple first step to take: ask them why they did it. You may find out that they actually had a good reason after all, or you may find that you think their reason is daft ... but there is no need to assume. Your presumption that someone here has behaved irrationally is WP:ABF, and your reluctance to discuss contravenes the core policy WP:CONSENSUS.
- Anyway, it turns out that I had failed to spot a procedural glitch, so these categories are now listed for a full discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 September 17#Television_navigational_boxes. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:05, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
