Digital identity edit

Hi Bettinusz - Thanks for stopping by my talk page. First, I'd say that your question would be a perfect one for the Teahouse, so I'd recommend posting it there as you could get fast responses from multiple and experienced users/hosts that are there to assist our newer editors. That said, you might also consider asking for re-write assistance at WikiProject Internet as the Digital Identity talkpage lists this wikiproject as being within its scope. I looked at the article to see what I could suggest for the re-write. To me, and I'm not a "tekkie", it comes across as being written in a very technical tone... too technical in my opinion for the average wikipedia reader... so making it more readable would benefit the article. The end result should be an understandable article vs. a tekkie or scholarly paper. Also, in the lead paragraph, I would distinguish Digital identity from Internet identity as the "hatnote" states there's a relationship, and I would want to know from the get-go what that relationship is. Hope this helps? --Rosiestep (talk) 21:20, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rosiestep- Thank you for your quick and helpful answer. I am going to approach the Teahouse and the WikiProject Internet with this issue. My biggest concern is that I am not an experienced wikipedia user, and as such I am not sure as to how much am I "allowed" to edit what others have already done. Concerned about the etiquette if you will. I will take you advice and start slowly rewriting those parts and see what WikiProject Internet say about a re-structure or re-write of the article. Thank you very much for your help! Bettinusz (talk) 10:02, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I took our advice and rewrote the introduction part. I introduced in a sentence the relationship between the term digital identity and online identity, and rewrote the section in a less technical tone and with a couple of inline references. Could you take a look at the introduction section and let me know if my rewrite improved it at all? Thanks, Bettinusz (talk) 12:27, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi Bettinusz - I added suggestions to the article talkpage. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
