Provisional suspension of your community ban

Motion

That the indefinite community ban of User:Betacommand be suspended for as long as he unconditionally agrees to and fully complies with the terms set out below.

Terms

The Arbitration Committee has decided that the community ban of User:Betacommand be provisionally suspended subject to your unconditional acceptance of and full compliance with the following non-negotiable terms:

1. You edit under only one username and agree to regular checkuser inspection.
2. For one year, you are (i) topic-banned from any non-free-content-related work and related talk pages; (ii) subject to a 0RR restriction on any free-content-image-related work and related talk pages; (iii) prohibited from operating bots or running automated scripts of whatever nature; (iv) prohibited from inducing or attempting to induce others to operate bots or run automated scripts; and (v) subject to an editing throttle of a maximum of four edits every ten minutes (excludes reversion of blatant vandalism). After six months, you may apply to ArbCom for a review of the terms of this condition.
3. You agree (i) to a civility restriction and (ii) to not engage in any form of wikilawyering, broadly interpreted.
4. You agree to mentoring for one year by User:MBisanz and User:Hersfold, who will make monthly progress reports by email to ArbCom. Either mentor may, at his sole discretion, block you for short periods if in his opinion you are in breach of any of these conditions. If either mentor or both mentors withdraw, you will cease all editing until replacement mentors are found. The mentorship will be reviewed, and may be continued, at the end of the first year.

Without prejudice to the foregoing, ArbCom may, at any time, by simple majority vote, reinstate your indefinite community ban by determining by motion of any arbitrator that you are (i) in breach of the spirit or letter of these terms or (ii) engaging in conduct injurious to the encyclopedia.

There are a few points that I may disagree with, but I am will abide by those restrictions. Most of those where crafted between Hersfold, MBisanz and myself so I must thank them for their assistance. Several users have asked what my background projects I'm going to be working on are. Mainly it's going to be typo fixing, working with Commons images (either tagging dupes, or replacing enwiki images with their Commons versions). I've also go a side project for finding free images for articles that lack images, and for now the last gnomish task will be clearing up red-linked images from articles. β^_command 16:45, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I am sorry I did not realize that using twinkle for single edits was considered a violation. Per Ryan Postlethwaite and several others, I assumed that single edits where I was confirming the actions where not considered automated. Please note that my single use of twinkle was about 19 hours ago and Roger Davies response was only 5 hours ago so I was unaware of the fact that tw was considered automated. Since there is at least some people who think that TW is automated Ill stop using it. β^_command 13:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Firstly welcome back! Secondly, here is a friendly but strong warning. Do not use any scripts to aid editing whatsoever until/unless you receive notification from the AC that doing so is allowed. I think it fair to say that quite a few people are watching your every move waiting for you to slip up. Another problem with the images

The images are from and linked to a copyright violating site. For example, click through the source link on File:Ubuntu on Windows - Firefox vs Firefox.png. You will see that the source site has an incorrect label "Image released onto the public domain"; however the site does not have the legal authority to do so, since it doesn't represent all the copyright holders. Thus by having the image, which requires a link to the source, Wikipedia is abetting copyright violation. Yworo (talk) 18:30, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

you may have grounds there but I was mainly referring to the other images that have been groped and that are free software. if you have specific issues don't edit war, instead either discuss it on the talk page or take it to WP:FFD ☻ β^_command 18:41, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

AV software

Hi Betacommand. We had spoken several months ago about AV software. I've been going through several packages and testing. I recently installed Kaspersky (I believe that was your particular suggestion). During the install, I had to un-install my SiteAdvisor. Now that I've gotten the Kaspersky installed, can I re-install the SiteAdvisor without disrupting Kaspersky? I do have WoT as well, so it's not essential, but it is a proggie I enjoy.
