Koji Date edit

I don't believe this page should be deleted for the same reason given to all the other pages relevant to the Prince of Tennis musicals. These are actors that deserve to be given credit for the work they've done.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenta_Kamakari

I don't see anyone deleting his page, why delete Date's? Honestly it was completely unnecessary especially since I posted a notice that it was still in progress when I was writing it.

Well, Thank you for your time, but please don't do it again... Vadervox 01:21, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template Tag edit

I noticed in Wikipedia:Bot requests that you have a bot that can tag articles based on category. I'm looking to tag all the articles' talk under the "North Carolina" Catagory with the {{Project North Carolina}} template if the template does not already exist on the page. I'd also like to tag everything in the Catagory "Cities in North Carolina" with {{WikiProjectCities}} Do you think you might be able to do this? Thanks 04:16, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I've gone through and added a strike to Cats / Sub-Cats that would probably be better off without the tag. I'll add them manually if needed. If you see any that you think should do without based on your experience, feel free to exclude. Let me know if there is anything else you need from me. Thanks! Hey! It's been awhile. What's up? Email me or something - I don't check Wikipedia anymore. --WhyBeNormal? c · t · m 22:07, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sharks edit

I have actually went through and put the talk template onto all of the pages last night so i wont be needing the bot for that anymore. Although it might be useful for changing the {{portalpar|Sharks}} to {{Sharksportal}} on all of the pages in Category:Sharks --chris_huh 13:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the offer - we already use this - were you thinking of something different? Yomanganitalk 22:41, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

User:Betacommand/rollback edit

Hi. I was just wondering what that page is for and how it works? I'm suspecting there's a "good idea" lurking there! :) --kingboyk 19:39, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's a project for me to have his bot tag all the Cat's listed with the {{Project North Carolina}} tag and all NC cities with the {{WikiProjectCities}} tag. Morphh 19:45, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
On the new page User:Betacommand/North Carolina, could you rerun this without Category:U.S. Highways in North Carolina & Category:Interstate Highways in North Carolina - This is spiderwebbing way to many articles. Also should remove the sub-sub Category:Great Smoky Mountains National Park Thanks - Sorry.. they seemed good until you start to dig down into them. Too may Cats of Cats. Better to figure it out now though before we tag. I'll look through more tomorrow. Morphh 02:06, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Betacommand, can we start over with the rollback. I greatly underestimated the complexity of Categories and their sub-sub linking effects. I'm trying to clean up the categories now for Cats that should not be in the North Carolina sub-tree but I expect I'll still want to exclude some that don't make sense. I'm going through each cat this time and following it all the way down. Sorry for all the effort - Thanks, Morphh 17:53, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I finished adding all the categories to User:Betacommand/rollback. This is for the {{Project North Carolina}} tag. Morphh 15:51, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removing Shark stuff edit

That will be handy. But i think it will be best to wait til the project has been fully deleted in a day or so. I will get back to you --chris_huh 23:15, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well it seems that the project has effectively gone, so if you could get it to remove any template hosted in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Shark/Userboxes directory type thing - i am not sure what it is called in wiki. I don't know if this is the best way to do it but there are about 6 or 7 'userboxes' found there. --chris_huh 11:52, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re:Bot for Writing systems edit

I've added a lot of info to the page, but I'm not finished. Many of these articles overlap in the categories, and they exist in multiple ones. Will this be a problem? I'm hesitant to add more cats until I know. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 01:25, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Betacommand. I see my bot User:MalafayaBot has been approved. But the bot flag hasn't been set. Has it been forgotten? Cheers, Malafaya 14:01, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Approved bots edit

I liked to add debate tags on approved tasks so that when the bot owner checks it, they know its approved. I suppose the debate tags are not needed, and "no include" tags are useful so that they can make future requests on the subpage. However, we may want to leave approved requests out for a little longer so the person can see it and knows what happened to it. I suppose that for bots it a trial period, we can remove the translusion sooner since it gets listed at the bottom of the page though.Voice-of-All 22:08, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Angela Shelton edit

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I found several articles where Myspace links are included. I read the WP:EL you linked to in your response. My purpose in adding the myspace link is because she often discusses updates about the film, etc. I thought it would be helpful to anyone interested in finding out more about her and her film. kc12286 03:27, 11 September 2006 (UTC)kc12286Reply

Katelyn Tarver edit

If you wish to remove external links to Katelyn Tarver or whatever, and there's likely to be a dispute (as there is), please do not use a robot. Robots are obvious undisputed cases. WP:EL makes very clear, that "Links normally to be avoided" does not override all other considerations. Using a robot to remove links is good, if and only if, they're spam, likely added by a robot. If you disagree about the appropriateness of the link, I am open to discussing it one the relevant talk page. Also, note the MySpace is an official page, in addition to katelyntarveronline.com. As for your concerns about security, I consider that absurd. Microsoft's site has some security problems to (e.g. pushing ActiveX, etc...), but we'll keep linking to it. Also katelyntarveronline.com and MySpace link to each other, so its absurd to say its safe to send somebody to one, and not the other. MySpace is a signficant component to how certain artists, including Tarver, are promoted, and is too signficant to leave out. --Rob 00:18, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi. As far as I'm aware, my bot Kingbotk (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is approved and the request can be archived (unless you have any further questions). I've been running with a bot bit for quite some time now. --kingboyk 08:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC) Just an addendum: the case was dealt with by Tawker, and since he's a member of the approvals group I presume that his arranging for my bot bit == approval. However, if you'd like to confirm this with him please go ahead. Cheers. --kingboyk 11:01, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

About WS template and your bot again edit

Hi Beta. Sorry to keep bothering you ;-). First off, I'm still adding categories to the bot page, but I should be finished soon. Secondly, I wanted to let you know that the template should not be subst'ed, because there are multiple variables which can be added and modified later (you probably already knew this, but I wanted to play it safe and tell you, so there wouldn't be any possible mess-ups). I'll talk to you again when I finish categorzing. Cheers, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 23:09, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I just added the last category to the list. You can start up the bot now. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 22:28, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks interesting, myspace is sometimes a helpful link. It is either an un-official myspace account which should be deleted, or an official one run by the subject. I don't actually know how to find out which is which.--Andeh 17:33, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Majestic Tower Wellington edit

I redirected this to Majestic Centre. The wording was a little poor (it implied it was the largest building in the street), but it is in fact the tallest building in Wellington. BetacommandBot & rivers of somerset edit

Hi,

At 17:25 on 21st Sept your BetacommandBot removed the Category:Rivers in Somerset from the article about Congresbury Yeo.

Was there any reason for this as the category seems valid & appears on several other pages I watch. I don't know much about the operation of bots & don't know whether this is a bug or whether some decision has been made about this category which I don't know about.— Rod talk 09:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Photographic Societies edit

A quick google search of Wikipedia reveals a couple hundred hits on the term "Photographic Societies." As a newcomer (and an enthusiastic one) I'd like to know how to best create an acceptable catagory for photographic clubs and societies. Why was the original classification deleted? If it simply needs someone to search down relevant articles and build up critical mass on the topic, I'm happy to help. Advice welcome. Binaryrhyme 00:15, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bot edit

Could you stop your bot, please? It is renaming a category to a name that already exists, and in so doing is mixing two categories up. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 18:49, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

There was a vote to see whether Category: Animal liberation movement should be moved to Category: Animal rights. Grutness proposed it. Either that, he said, or Animal rights should be created as a separate cat. I therefore did the latter, splitting the categories into (a) articles about the movement (groups, activists, campaigns), which went in Cat:Animal liberation movement; and (b) more general articles about animal rights, which went into Cat:Animal rights. Your bot has just undone that work, reversing hours of effort, and mixing the two cats up again. There are too many articles for one category: if you lump them all together in Cat:Animal rights, someone will simply come along in a couple of week's time and split them up again. SlimVirgin (talk) 19:01, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. If the bot could undo whatever the bot did, that would be much appreciated. SlimVirgin (talk) 19:08, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Moving Categories edit

Hello. I have a quick question about the way that BetacommandBot is moving categories. It looks to me like when a new category is being created as a result of a "Rename" decision that the bot is including the old {{cfr}} tag on the category (example). Is this the behavior that you are intending or is the bot supposed to be removing that. Obviously it needs to be removed at some point, but I didn't know if the bot was supposed to do it, or if it was incumbent upon someone else to know that the bot is finished and then do the clean-up (or maybe you do that later and just didn't get to this particular example yet?). Thanks in advance for your response. --After Midnight 0001 00:11, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your bot is editing at insane speeds, up to (possibly beyond) 29 edits a minute. This is far to fast. Also, do not re-cat a category while another bot is doing it, as it can cause problems, and is irritating for the other bot. Martin 19:37, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
