re bot archiving (2 signatures)

Thanks. Here's where I got the idea of two signatures required:

{{AutoArchivingNotice}}

Is this template no longer accurate? Proofreader77 (talk) 20:30, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I believe so. I've never the bots leave old messages simply because the comment got no replies. I've only seen non-dated items ignored. -- Banjeboi 20:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I have noticed Miszabot eats Signpost without a second signature, so I was curious. I'll verify with bot creator (may be issue of updated Miszabot code). If so, template needs to be changed. But anyway, thanks. Proofreader77 (talk) 20:50, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Any change of status about the links up top? (I was following my "housekeeping" habit of signing single-signature things based on template info.) If you tell me there's been no change of status (links don't need updating etc), I'll talk to Tombaker321 about removing our signed comments (when he's unblocked). If you have another preference for handling, no problem. Proofreader77 (talk) 21:49, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I would say just remove both your comments from there. The section can serve as a resource for those improving the article and they were only put there recently. -- Banjeboi 21:59, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Will gladly remove mine (but not sure if an undo counts as an edit). Did not want to add to contention by removing Tombaker321's without his permission. If you wish to wipe them both, I have no objection. Proofreader77 (talk) 22:11, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I've washed my hands at that article until the nonsense ebbs, do what you will. -- Banjeboi 22:14, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Nice recent edits on SPLC--thank you. That site is constantly under attack by persons intent on slandering SPLC and Dees, and justifying the actions of racists and hate groups. Keep on. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 15:18, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, they are criticized so we should note that as well as why they are criticized. But we do need to do so dispassionately and NPOV. Thank you for your kind words! -- Banjeboi 02:32, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Frankly

It seems CoM has found a "special friend" to help insert the WP:SOAPBOX stuff on Barney Frank's article. Gosh do I hate this crap of dealing with these partisan ranters rather than just do real article work. LotLE×talk 08:25, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it does seem awfully coincidental. To be fair it could just be a kindred spirit. usually the sockers shoot themselves in the foot somehow so I've found it helpful to realize that this tenditious scrutiny can actually help the article if kept somewhat in check. It would be nicer if none of it happened in the first place but I remain optimistic. -- Banjeboi 08:30, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh, yeah... in this case I don't particularly suspect socking. Just a kindred spirit... well, probably. The ThinkEnemies account has a month-and-a-half edit history, largely on topics that might be covered by CoM's topic ban. However, browsing slightly, it feels like a different conversational tone in comments, so probably just like minded. I just think it is an article issue to keep an eye on. LotLE×talk 08:39, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes the BS meter is in the red zone and they seem to be using rollback in ways I'm not sure are acceptable. (sigh) -- Banjeboi 02:33, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks...

Hi Benjiboi, I am following the situation, I apologize for asking you to help out there. Off2riorob (talk) 22:38, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

No worries, I've learned more about US politics and maybe that editor will understand some of the issues addressed and improve on their wikipedianing. -- Banjeboi 00:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Re: Sam Adams

Oops, I didn't notice the archives before I wrote on the talk page. I do disagree with the conclusion not to include Beau Breedlove's name in the article, but too much digital ink has already been spilled on that point. By the way, I'm a Portlander so I've heard plenty about the scandal.

No problem, well-intended edits are almost never the issue. The issue came down to Breedlove being just of legal age and unnotable themselves. There seemed nothing gained by including it and possibly causing harm should Breedlove regretting being so public at a later date. So we err on the cautious side. The rest of the editing their feels like mud-slinging instead of explaining Adams' life and career outside of a few selected recent events. They certainly are covered but not much outside the area. -- Banjeboi 08:25, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to wish those Wikipedians who have been nice enough to give me a barnstar or smile at me, supportive enough to agree with me, etc., a Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 18:28, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

A turducken! Well I'm impressed - and a bit alarmed, you do know that turd is in there? - anyway happy holiday to all who must feast and otherwise mark the "new" world. Lol! -- Banjeboi 00:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, we just had regular turkey! Best, --A NobodyMy talk 07:00, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Expert on myself

Hi Benji, what if someone is not very notable and all we have about them is a couple of what are basically promo interviews with her saying all about how she sings fantastic since the age of 3 and that her manager is fantastic, well, along those lines anyway, I thought it is not really good but almost not worth removing, for now, replace it if she becomes more reported on...we are not a advertising site are we, its this person Camilla_Kerslake the first sign to Gary Barlow 's new record label, she has an album out. Off2riorob (talk) 00:26, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Seems borderline at the moment but promising if Barlow is seen as having a reasonably good track record. Even is she fails musically, he's bound to get her so much press meanwhile that she'll hit WP:GNG. The being an expert on oneself applies to all statements about herself and are very useful if she declares her background, sexuality, religion, birthdate, etc. -- Banjeboi 00:38, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Yea, agreed, thanks for adding that search template, I didn't know we could add that, cool..there are a couple more links there, almost all of them are promo but there is good coverage in a simple promo way, she has a lot of support and will get better. Cool, let it blossom let it grow, Thanks for looking. Off2riorob (talk) 00:45, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
I started WP:Find to make the template usage easier. -- Banjeboi 01:13, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Well done, that is a useful tool. Off2riorob (talk) 01:18, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of male performers in gay porn films

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of male performers in gay porn films. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of male performers in gay porn films (5th nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:WikipediaWatchlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:WikipediaWatchlogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MBisanz talk 05:18, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

The article was unfortunately deleted, the logo logically should be as well. -- Banjeboi 05:27, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

List of male performers in gay porn films

After you reverted my deletion of a name on the list I reviewed and found you were quite correct; I failed to investigate the ref thoroughly enough. The Randy Blue website was cited, and on first glance its homepage bears a strong resemblance to a common commercial format. Since commercial websites aren't useful as refs, I removed it accordingly. Once I looked past the first page I realized that it was not commercial in nature, but informative, so I accept your reversion completely.

When I made that edit I was aware of the article's AfD and was trying to "clean up" an otherwise legitimate list. There seems to be a certain amount of history that I wasn't aware of though, and I plan to review, but it looks to me like you've been making some real effort to keep a troublesome topic up to proper WP standards. My personal time is limited and my contributions tend to be erratic, but I'll try to assist when and where I can. Happy editing, Doc Tropics 22:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

No problem at all and I very much appreciate you dropping by. The next obvious thing to do is go through all teh blue links to ensure they point to the right person. I'll start a talkpage thread there so anyone who wants to help can do so and not duplicate efforts. -- Banjeboi 23:01, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Good thinking; the article is getting significantly more attention right now, which is usually a good thing in the long run. I've just reread WP:RS,WP:BLP, and WP:PORNBIO again, considering how they apply to this specific list; if someone else has issues with a ref like Randy Blue it will be fairly easy to explain. Another editor has already started clarifying some of the names, so things are moving forward. See you in the trenches  : ) Doc Tropics 23:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

An AFD you participated, is again up for deletion for the second time. Ikip (talk) 03:28, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

List of fictional dogs

This was an inappropriate merge from an article during a live AfD. Please excersize extreme caution when doing merges like this from now on, and only do so when consensus allows. I've reverted the addition, please seek a consensus to do the merge. ThemFromSpace 20:56, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

I disagree but we'll see if the concurrent wishes at CfD don't conflict with the AfD, no matter why those involved proceeded as they did. -- Banjeboi 21:02, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
The CfD doesn't affect any actual material in the article space, it only affects which articles are tagged under a specific category. ThemFromSpace 21:18, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
The Cfd is suggesting that listifying the category may serve our readers best. The Afd then ensued to delete the list. -- Banjeboi 21:24, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for the Barnstar, I really appreciate your recognition! Of course, you're the one who did a truly heroic amount of work on the list, and over a long period of time. But if I give you a Barnstar now I'll just look like a copycat. I think I'll wait until you're not expecting it, then whack you with one by surprise. given the work you do it won't be hard to find a reason  : ) Doc Tropics 05:01, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Lol! You're very welcome, keep up the good work. -- Banjeboi 14:24, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Oooh, a barnstar! My very first! I never expected to get any, to be honest, as i don't have a lot of interaction with other editors (except one, on one topic); if you were to look at my contribution list you'd see i go in spurts, as the interest takes me, all over the place, so no one sees my name very often. So, i'm excited! Seriously, thank you; it has been an interesting experience. Cheers, LindsayHi 19:28, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

You're very welcome! Keep up the good work! -- Banjeboi 02:07, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

newsletter model for Ars

Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Newsletter/Current. -- Banjeboi

too crowded :/ I like the current model, which is based on the two largest newsletters on wikipedia, videogame and military... Ikip (talk) 02:35, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Chillax, you don't know why I posted this here do you? I posted as it serves as a model how to organize the newsletter for display and delivery. That is, there is a page for whatever the current newsletter is and it is subst'd to users, additionally there is a list for those who do not want to get one - an opt out. Old versions are archived. Personally I haven't liked the ARS newsletter appearance but have been dealing with a stalker or two so that's low on my radar. -- Banjeboi 02:43, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
