Fair use rationale for File:Table_1.2_ELIPS.pdf edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Table_1.2_ELIPS.pdf. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 04:14, 20 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

File:Table_1.3_ELIPS.pdf edit

I have tagged File:Table_1.3_ELIPS.pdf as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. ELIPS edit

Hello Belmann3! I noticed that the article you are working on, ELIPS: European Programme for Life and Physical Sciences in Space, has a number of external links in the body of the text. (For example, [http://www.esa.int/esaHS/iss.html International Space Station].) Except under rare circumstances, external links should be confined to the "External links" section at the bottom of the article. Would you be so kind as to remove them, or replace them with internal links to other Wikipedia articles (for example, [[International Space Station]])?

Please let me know if you have any questions, and happy editing! 28bytes (talk) 02:16, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image licensing edit

If you want to release images under a license that allows anyone to re-use it with attribution, I suggest releasing it under CC-BY-3.0. This will prevent images from being deleted in the future. -- Selket Talk 17:04, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also File:Table 1.1 New ELIPS.pdf needs licensing/copyright information also. I'm not sure what you meant by "Please be more European," but if you have any questions about our image copyright policy, I'll do my best to answer them. Please remember that Wikimedia Foundation is based in the United States with servers in both US and EU. Wikipedia must comply with the copyright laws of both jurisdictions. So, just because something might be considered ok in the EU, that does not make it ok in the US. -- Selket Talk 17:35, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Doubly pointless edit

Please read this. What is the point of saying on the talk page that it should not be deleted when you were the one who applied the deletion tag? If File:MSL and FDW in KIBO.jpg comes from the US gov. then it should be uploaded to the Commons, given proper source info. and a PD-gov licence tag. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:11, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Table 1.3B New ELIPS.pdf edit

A tag has been placed on File:Table 1.3B New ELIPS.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip (e.g. a Word document or PDF file) that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
