bold text and italics

Hello, I am working on an article, I am not sure what I can't get my text to bold and italicize at the same time in my sandbox I wrote the following Mariannaea elegans I also tried this Mariannaea elegans but it does not seem to work. When I save the changes the text appears bolded but not italicized. I am I doing something wrong? Your suggestions are greatly appreciatedBelauoft (talk) 21:25, 12 October 2018 (UTC)

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
