Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Naturalized citizens of Sri Lanka

A tag has been placed on Category:Naturalized citizens of Sri Lanka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Regarding newly created articles and avoid linking Canada

Hi Bearcat, I think that linking Canada is not allowed it is considered overlinking per WP:OVERLINK guidelines it was proposed by User:Alaney2k with much support by WikiProject Canada memebers, the proposal is approved WikiProject Canada members to remove Canada to avoid overlinking. The user who propose removing Canada links is User:Alaney2k. So could you talk you User:Alaney2k to confirm if the Canada links can be removed to avoid overlinking guidelines. I already talk to User:Alaney2k once about avoid linking Canada per overlinking guidelines last year. So talk to User:Alaney2k to confirm the user if Canada links cannot be added to avoid overlinking so you can continue create new articles yourself. OK? Thanks. 2001:569:74D2:A800:1934:7AD0:9891:EB36 (talk) 04:06, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Also, I deeply apologize by nearly stalking the newly created articles, it just the Canada links to be avoided. If you can accept my apology will you still talk to User:Alaney2k for the previous confirmed proposal at WP:CANADA to confirm the Canada links to be avoided per WP:OVERLINK guidelines after it was approved by WikiProject Canada members. OK? Thanks. 2001:569:74D2:A800:1934:7AD0:9891:EB36 (talk) 04:19, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Why are you scheduling David S. Womack for deletion?

Why are you disputing facts about David S. Womack? Cited and paragraphed properly, what are you doing this for? You are causing unnecessary trouble. Lastphotograph (talk) 01:53, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

@Lastphotograph: See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David S. Womack for detailed discussion. PamD 08:37, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of No Love Lost (book)

The article No Love Lost (book) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirementnor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (books) supplement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Roman Baber

Hi, i noticed you reverted the changes to Roman Baber page done by Kevincorpuz. I totally agree that they shouldn't have done it, but the version has had a lot of correct and important information. I will attempt to go through it and add back the important info without advertorial tone. Shemtovca (talk) 16:26, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Did quite understand you at first.

Article Deletion

Hi

I don't edit on Wikipedia very often and so this message refers to a page deletion back in October. I don't know whether or not you recall nominating a page I created for deletion, but I was curious as to why this page was deleted when the others I have created, which are probably less well sourced and about people who are less well known, remain in place.

The article deleted was about Patrick Ayree, a nature presenter. Unfortunately I did not contribute to the deletion discussion, as like I said, I do not participate on Wikipedia all that often. I had a look at notability guidelines and was quite surprised that this article was deleted, as I felt as though it met the guidelines. However, I accept that I may have interpreted these incorrectly. What I don't understand is why this article which had the most references was deleted while other lesser pages I have created remain active.

I hope you can help me out with this so that in the future articles I create will not be deleted.

Thanks. Bivaldian (talk) 17:55, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Seems like this person is randomly deleting articles and unwarranted. Lets investigate this person. Lastphotograph (talk) 01:55, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @Lastphotograph: Hardly random. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patrick Aryee and the detailed explanation Bearcat took the trouble to write at User_talk:Bivaldian#Patrick_Aryee. PamD 08:17, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for the message you left on my talkpage. It was helpful and will be useful to me in the future. My issue remains that after looking for articles about similar people I found that used the same sort of references and yet remain with no debate about their notability from you or any other senior editor, and so if such articles do not meet the guidelines then I find it strange that they have gone undetected as not meeting notability guidelines for so long.

As far as the references go I can't see which ones I used because the article has been deleted. Just to be clear, as I understand it you are telling me that an interview with the subject in a newspaper is not good enough because they are promoting their own work. However, if somebody is being asked to give their views and being interviewed surely this points to a degree of notability. I think that the references below meets your rules about not promoting their own work on their own broadcaster.

  • @Bivaldian:
  • First, editing technique: To make a list, add * at the start of each item so they appear on new lines (or add : to indent each line without a bullet point, or add two line feeds after each to add a blank line between them).
So, looking at those, my thoughts:
Looks good, independent travel magazineThe Black Explorer, sadly not one which anyone has yet written a Wikipedia article about, but still quite a decent source
No, an External link but not a reliable source as anyone can contribute
The Sun is not considered a reliable source (I'm almost certain)
Looks rather bloggy
Nor is the Mail considered reliable
Not really independent as he's an Old Boy, but useful source.
A few more sources:
Interview on Greenpeace website - interviews don't count for notability but it looks useful
One of the RSPCA's ambassadors, useful
Coverage in Metro, not much about him but contributes to notability perhaps
As with Hampton School it's not totally independent... but they clearly think him notable, and it has useful biographical content
Looks good.
I reckon there's probably enough there for a carefully sourced article. @Bearcat: may have other comments. But another time, keep an eye on it: you can arrange to be notified by email whenever anyone posts to your talk page, and a move to delete an article you had started would be notified to your talk page, so that would ensure you didn't get taken by surprise again. PamD 15:40, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Thank you PamD.

Perhaps these may also be useful:

Is there a way the page can be undeleted so that these new references can be incorporated without having to start again?

Thanks Bivaldian (talk) 17:14, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi I have seen the latest message on my talkpage. So I have now have found two sources that meet your criteria. I have looked at other pages which are about other nature presenters and in most cases the articles have at most one source which would meet your criteria, and in some cases they have none. So I don't see why you've deleted this article but have left the others alone. Is there any reason for this, because seeing as you seem to specialise in nominating articles for deletion I would have thought this would have come to your attention. The other senior editor I have been discussing this with states that some of the sources have some use, and while they may not be perfect they could be used.

Request

Sir, I am Tanuj Samaddar from India. I have received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskaar 2021 - india's highest civilian honour for people below 18 years of age. I am an emerging artist with over 19 international awards and 47 national level awards. Sir, would you be kind enough to create a wikipedia page in my name 🙏 Tanuj Sam (talk) 15:28, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

I saw your request and went through your name browsing it on Google. The search returned some results but it might not be enough for a Wikipedia article at present. You have independent mentions in various newspapers and online portals but none of them seem to be from top media houses or from the government. I’m however adding your name to 2021 awardees with one reference. Thanks Rohan9082 (talk) 06:23, 1 March 2021 (UTC)Rohan9082
