Discussion on Hathigumpha inscription

edit

Hello, Be Jain. Barua's translation of the Hathigumpha inscription is well-understood, but it has had its own share of criticism and most importantly, the apex body has not published them. It does not amount to a reliable source as per Wikipedia's standards. See WP:SCHOLARSHIP and WP:OLDSOURCES. As per Wikipedia's policy on sources, the translation as published by the apex archaeological survey body of the country (The Archaeological Survey of India) is accepted in case of a contention. It is also usually the internationally accepted standard. See:

  1. The Archaeological Survey of India: https://archive.org/details/epigrahiaindicav014769mbp/page/n97/mode/2up?view=theater
  2. University of British Columbia: https://open.library.ubc.ca/media/download/full-text/24/1.0340476/0.txt
  3. University of London: https://eprints.soas.ac.uk/29097/1/10731192.pdf
  4. University of California Press: https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/id/c125c9b3-4eb5-439f-8857-5df80c7424fe/bridging-two-worlds.pdf

In case there are contentious sources, alternative translations by scholars may be posted, but deleting content endorsed by reliable sources amounts to vandalism. See WP:VANDAL. I encourage healthy discussion on what might be most suitable for Wikipedia without resorting to edit warring. RJShashwat (talk) 01:59, 8 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adding a Biased information to a Public page is presenting Biased views of your own to Wikipedia. This is the Second warning I am giving for your biased opinion next time.
You will be blocked from further editing Wikipedia if you continue to express your Biased opinion on Wikipedia pages, as you did to Maksi. Be Jain (talk) 05:09, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The edit you reverted at Maksi was only of a copy-edit and no other additions or removals. Edit warring is really not required there. If you think it does not reflect your POV, please discuss it here or on the article talk page before resorting to edit warring. Remember that edit warring with non-neutral and unreferenced material amounts to vandalism and can lead to a ban. ParvatPrakash (talk) 05:23, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Adding Such a Information that the main temple only belongs to the Shvetambara Sect of Jainism is a biased opinion. When both the sects have right to worship the idol. Princy Council had given the Result in favour of both the sects. Remember that doing biased edits and Vandalism may lead to permanent ban. Just add Information not the Biased Information as you did in Maksi. Be Jain (talk) 05:26, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
First of all, I have not edited Maksi and I have nothing to do with sects of Jainism. What you are accusing me of was already present on the page. You are just reverting it to a version that has the same thing written in poor English. I hope you understand. ParvatPrakash (talk) 05:28, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Rishabhanatha. ParvatPrakash (talk) 19:26, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adding a Low quality image is just irresponsible. Person coming on a page wants a High-quality image to precised.
For your biased edits
You may be blocked from editing without further warning if you again tried to vandalise Wikipedia pages, as you did at Rishabhnatha Be Jain (talk) 04:58, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The existing picture of of very high quality and of a publically popular icon of Rishabhanatha. The picture added by you was of a lower quality with improper lighting. Therefore, your edit was unconstructive and hence, reverted. You are free to discuss it here before resorting to edit warring. ParvatPrakash (talk) 05:20, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Rishabhanatha) for a period of 2 weeks for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 05:41, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok No problem for that, if you think I am the culprit of vandalism no problem. Always working for the Growth of Wikipedia. Be Jain (talk) 05:50, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is not vandalism. You have both edit warred because you both want to improve the encyclopedia, and you'll now need to discuss on the article's talk page. Without personally addressing each other, focused on the article content. See the bottom of Special:Permalink/1233649252 for advice I just wrote for ParvatPrakash. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 05:57, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to discuss

Edit warring does not help Wikipedia. Let's discuss the difference in POV and strive for consensus.   You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Rishabhanatha § Image of the subject. ParvatPrakash (talk) 06:11, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
