edit

A page you created, Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut), has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. The article Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Absence of reliable sources and significant coverage: WP:GNG. Salient, historical details on the reference provided, specifically relating to the inn and the Underground Railroad, aren't substantiated by reliable secondary sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mephtalk 12:25, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mephtalk 11:54, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut)

Hi Bayside7. Welcome to wikipedia. I find my way to you by noticing your edits to the Litchfield County NRHP list-article. I see that there was a proposal already to delete Blackberry River Inn (Norfolk, Connecticut), your first article, but it seems, offhand, legitimate to me. I'll try to help. Hang in there! The first few articles are the most difficult, as you learn what it takes to survive here, then it is easier.  :) Cheers, --doncram 13:38, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Followup: With a little work by me and now contributions by another editor or two, the article is definitely saved, is definitely going to be kept. Good work in starting the article! And nice pic, thanks! As a National Register-listed place, it is definitely Wikipedia-notable. It was a little confusing to me in that the nice photo you provided doesn't appear to show a 1763 house, rather it displays the Colonial Revival work of the 1920's which is why the place is National Register-listed. And it was confusing perhaps for others that the common name of the place is "Blackberry River Inn", appropriate title for the article, but the National Register listing was under its older, historic name. I'll try to get back and add more later.
Coincidentally, i just a few days ago started an article about Alfredo S.G. Taylor who designed this place and a lot of others in Norfolk. It would be really great if you are local or visit or otherwise could take pics of other of Taylor's works in the area, or of other places on National Register of Historic Places listings in Litchfield County, Connecticut. I mostly work on NRHP and other historic sites articles in Wikipedia, and would be really glad to collaborate on articles. I'll "watchlist" here, but please feel free to contact me anytime at my Talk page. Cheers, --doncram 14:30, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for helping me with editing this article, as you know it is my first one on wikipedia and it was a little complicated in the beginning to comply with all of wikipedias rules. Actually, I have been at the place a couple of times and I also know the current owners pretty well, so when I am there the next time, I will certainly try to take pictures of some of Taylors other works. Once again, thank you for your help, and as soon as I have more pics to support your articles, I will let you know. Regards, --Bayside7 (talk) 16:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good, I do hope you feel it's enjoyable to contribute here. Great if you get around to taking more pics of Taylor's works and I will be very glad to help start/develop articles about them. Cheers!--doncram 21:21, 7 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
