Disambiguation link notification for November 20 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of deaths through alcohol, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mount Vernon Cemetery (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Desomorphine into Adulterant. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:39, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Firefox Preview moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Firefox Preview, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Alcohol in Palestine edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Alcohol in Palestine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Bawanio, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to DNA vaccination have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🌴Talk🌲Help out at CCI! 15:31, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Apaugasma: The text was copied from the Grog article. --Bawanio (talk) 22:09, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello Bawanio, three things:
  1. The fact that the Grog article doesn't cite any source for its claims is a serious problem with regard to our core policy on verifiability. It's bad enough that unsourced information is present in that article, so certainly not something we want to copy to other articles.
  2. Just in case you were thinking along these lines, it's of course not acceptable to use or regard another Wikipedia article as a source: Wikipedia is not a reliable source.
  3. This is perhaps the most important part: when you copy any text from one Wikipedia article to another, it is essential that you explicitly mention this in the edit summary ("copied from") by naming the source article (preferably also linking to it), and that you add a message along the lines of "for attribution, see the history of that page". See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Not doing this is considered as a copyrights violation, and could mean serious trouble for Wikipedia in the long term.
Thanks for taking this into consideration! ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 02:59, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Apaugasma: Thank you for your feedback. Usually I mention this in the edit summary, but I forgot about it, sorry. --Bawanio (talk) 14:33, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion for resources and citations of reagent test results edit

As the creator of the reagent test results wiki on the Reagent Testing subreddit I'd like to suggest that you use the references I used there. You can find all test results here and all the references used on this page. Hope this helps you with your work. Great to see someone taking the effort to create a useful resource. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdreue (talkcontribs) 03:32, 8 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (4th request) edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Yeast in winemaking into Kilju. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. DanCherek (talk) 06:30, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@DanCherek: I'm the author of the original article that I just merged to the kilju article. --Bawanio (talk) 06:32, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
You copied text from Yeast in winemaking that was originally written in 2012 by another editor to Yeast fermented spirit, and then you moved that text to Kilju. You didn't attribute either of those edits, and attribution was required because you didn't write the original text. DanCherek (talk) 06:34, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@DanCherek: I'm sorry if I missed that. I'll try to pay more attention, thanks for the feedback. --Bawanio (talk) 06:36, 9 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced additions edit

I noticed you adding lots of content to energy drink and nicotine replacement therapy without any citations. I will revert these additions unless you are able to provide sources for them. They make sweeping claims (“most” countries don’t regulate caffeine or allow minors to buy NRT?) and you provide absolutely no support for them. See WP:V. January 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Yodas henchman. I noticed that you recently removed content from Kilju without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Yodas henchman (talk) 19:31, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Yodas henchman: I've specifically written about fermented water: 1) I originally started in Yeast fermented spirit, 2) then merged Yeast fermented spirit to kilju 3) then merged all work from 1-2 to the fermented water article. See Talk:Fermented_water#Why_I_started_this_article why I merged my work. --Bawanio (talk) 20:02, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Health effects of chocolate, you may be blocked from editing. Read WP:MEDRS and use better sources for content you add. You put a lot of dubious material into the encyclopedia, creating unnecessary work for other editors to check for accuracy. Fermented sugar water moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Fermented sugar water, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) @Damien Linnane:: I read your profile the first day we talked, and you became my inspiration here on Wikipedia because I'm also a typical list person, and it seems like we share some interests too. I've spent thousands of hours through my life to make lists, tables, and other types of linear analyzes. You inspired me to merge all my lists to dedicated list pages, my goal is to make them User:Bawanio#Featured_lists. --Bawanio (talk) 16:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I'm very glad to hear that Bawanio, it made me smile. I'm sorry we stepped on each-others toes at first, but it does seem we have similar interests and I do look forward to working on the same articles with you. I do, however, have much less time for editing that I used to, so I'm afraid support I can give may often be minimal. I am always available for advice though, if nothing else. Legality of nitrous oxide edit

Hi there. Not sure I see the reason for the split here, when all of the legality content is (I think?) about purely recreational use, and would still be important to summarise in the main article, rather than not telling the reader whether it was legal or not.

Perhaps you're unifying the content in line with similar articles or something, but it'd be good to get a consensus first. Lord Belbury (talk) 13:42, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Content on Wikipedia should nearly always be cited to reliable, secondary sources. PPSSPP.org and GitHub are both primary, self-published sources and of limited use to us. We can cite them for basic ABOUTSELF claims, but emulator features are typically self-serving claims. Ultimately, we should leave it up to reliable sources to determine what is and isn't important to highlight about our subjects—including emulators. Woodroar (talk) 06:04, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wickr Me edit

I have again removed Wickr Me from Comparison of cross-platform instant messaging clients. The first time because of lack of sources. This time for tow reason: 1) the program lacks it own article and is therefore deemed not notable. The article about the parent company is not sufficient. 2) Lack of independent sources. Due to that, it gives a feel of advertising.

The simplest solution is to write the article first and only then add it to "Comparison of cross-platform instant messaging clients". The Banner talk 11:14, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@The Banner: See Wickr#Wickr_Me. However, this app is only used as a reference for some unique features that are displayed in the columns, so other apps can adapt them. --Bawanio (talk) 07:15, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

My work on Comparison_of_cross-platform_instant_messaging_clients the past three days:

Added these columns:

Privacy

  • Hide number in chats
  • Account expiration
  • Reset password
  • Password lockout

Message handling

  • Delete notification -- Found in Signal, perhaps in some other apps as well
  • Hide receipts
  • Locked messages -- Found in Wickr, perhaps in some other apps as well
  • Self-destructing read messages -- Found in Wickr, perhaps in some other apps as well

"On 18 November 2022, Wickr announced that it will be ending the free Wickr Me version of its app by the end of 2023. Wickr Me will not be accepting new user registrations after 31 December 2022, and will stop the Wickr Me services completely per 31 December 2023." "Screenshot detection" (one of the columns in the comparison page) was first introduced by Wickr and now it has been adopted by several apps. I wish to spread important security features on the comparisioin page before the app is gone.

I have also made the tables sortable, so please let's just discuss which columns that should be removed, so I can remove them. Reverting all the edits will downgrade the page and it costed me a lot of time.

Sorry, but the program must have its own article, not a section in the article about the parent company. WP:WTAF. The Banner talk 09:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@The Banner: You're very stressful, can you please give me some time to breath? --Bawanio (talk)
Thank you, that is the price of quality. The Banner talk 09:59, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: I hope you will feel better one day. --Bawanio (talk) 10:06, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: I filled one of them, and removed the other two: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_cross-platform_instant_messaging_clients&diff=1126073180&oldid=1126072628 --Bawanio (talk) 10:44, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

December 2022 edit

Hello, I'm The Banner. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Comparison of cross-platform instant messaging clients have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. The Banner talk 09:13, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@The Banner: Why are you opening new sections? It really makes it difficult to follow up the conversaion. Also, I don't care about wickr per see, why don't we just remove it from the table? --Bawanio (talk)

To keep the original discussion and the warning about repeated spamming separated. Different subjects, different headings. The Banner talk 09:39, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: You asked for references in our last conversation yesterday so I added them for Wickr Me because I didn't know any program that had them, and now your're accusing me for advertising. I've removed Wickr Me, to make it fair, shouldn't you remove Threema, Silent Phone, eBuddy, Keybase, since entries without their own article dedicated for the software should not be part of the page as you said here? --Bawanio (talk) 10:49, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I will look at the others, maybe I have missed something. But you were repeatedly re-adding Wickr Me... The Banner talk 11:24, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Removed 3 out of 4. Will look at others too. The Banner talk 11:33, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: Thank you very much! Yes, I recommend you to sure that __all__ entries have their own software page, I only skimmed through the list, I may have missed something. --Bawanio (talk) 11:35, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
In total four removals and one name-change. The Banner talk 12:31, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: Good work. By the way, 4th top contributor for the article: https://xtools.wmflabs.org/articleinfo/en.wikipedia.org/Comparison_of_cross-platform_instant_messaging_clients. So don't you think it's a bit weird if I'm affiliated with a specific app? --Bawanio (talk) 13:38, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Not really relevant, seeing the small numbers. But maybe it is an idea to use your sandbox more often. The Banner talk 16:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: Not long ago I was suspected to be a research chemical vendor, see Talk:Comparison_of_phytocannabinoids. --Bawanio (talk) 16:05, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Maybe you should do something on your style of editing. (as in how you do it, not so much the content). The Banner talk 16:12, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@The Banner: Well in this situation I felt that I didn't have much of a choice other than to use references to Wickr Me since the features were unique to the app, and you were asking for references previously for the columns to be kept. --Bawanio (talk) 16:42, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
