You appear to work for Brian Boxer Wachler. We do not allow undisclosed paid editing per our WP:TOU. We do appreciate you getting images released from the ophthalmologist in question though such as you did here [1]. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:04, 30 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest in Wikipedia edit

Hi Battistin72 I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Your edits to date have added promotional content to Brian Boxer Wachler and you are either the same person, or working with, the person operating the User:Jennifer1776 account, per this "checkuser" report, which means you appear to be violating our WP:SOCK policy. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.

Hello, Battistin72. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Comments and requests edit

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by out WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Brian Boxer Wachler and the person operating the User:Jennifer1776 account? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, with please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. You can reply here - I am watching this page. Thanks in advance for talking! Jytdog (talk) 19:04, 30 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disclosure of Paid Contributions edit

I am an employee of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute. I am not aware of User:Jennifer1776 and do not know whether there is someone else who makes paid contributions to Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler's Wiki page, but the account may belong to someone who is affiliated with the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute. I have been attempting to add reliable citations, particularity in the Filmography section, as well as sections of information I have seen included on other pages for medical professionals. What edits were the issue? I do not have an external list of all the sources I acquired. Is there a saved version of the page before it was nominated for deletion that I can access so I can recover the sources? Please unblock me so that I can correct the page citations to prevent it from being deleted. Thank you for your help! Battistin72 (talk) 10:10, 02 September 2015 (PST)

Yes there are a lot of paid accounts associated with this individual. How would you not know about them? Sorry unable to believe that explanation. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 23:01, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to verify that this is my only Wikipedia account. There may be someone else who also edits the page in question, but I am not aware of who it is. I have also added a Disclosure of Paid Contributions above. Battistin72(talk) 10:17, 02 September 2015 (PST)

Decline reason:

The person you claim not to know was editing from the same IP address and was described as "technically indistinguishable". I don't believe in that much coincidence. Huon (talk) 00:33, 3 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I spoke to the other people here in my office and found that one of my co-workers has also been making changes, as Jennifer1776, to the Boxer Wachler page from our office. I apologize most sincerely for this error and oversight on my part. It was upon the request of my superiors that I had been attempting to add reliable citations and additional sections of information that we observed on other Wiki pages for medical professionals, without knowledge of another contributor's updates to the page. I have now familiarized myself with the regulations and would like to attempt to correct the errors I have been making in my conduct on Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate a second chance to contribute. Battistin72 (talk) 8:30, 04 September 2015 (PST)

Decline reason:

I have to share in the other admins' concern and I am not yet convinced that you fully understand the reasons for your block. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:09, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disclosure of Paid Contributions & Shared IP Address edit

I am an employee of the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute. One of my co-workers also contributes from our office, therefore sharing an IP Address. Battistin72 (talk) 8:45, 04 September 2015 (PST)

This user may sometimes share an IP address with Jennifer1776.
One of your co-workers? But we see at least 6 other accounts that are actively promoting this person and their work. Some of them better at obscuring their IP addresses than others.
Of course these edits may have been purchased over a website like Elance which could explain the different IPs.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:42, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
This edit was particularly bad [2]. Not only did the doctor lighten the patients nevus they lightened all their skin likely with photoshop. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:53, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Battistin72 I don't think you understand how bad what you have done is in Wikipedia. I can explain if you like. But you are really in a deep hole here. Let me know if you are understand. Jytdog (talk) 23:23, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Since I have reviewed a previous unblock request I'll leave the decision to another admin, but personally I'd say the edit pointed out by Doc James above is blatant commercial spam. Wikipedia has no place for that. I'll also note that Jennifer1776, who you only now recognized is one of your co-workers, and you were tag-teaming to add spam to Wikipedia half a year ago. As I said above, I don't believe in that much coincidence. Huon (talk) 22:33, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • I've declined the unblock. I would say that they could only be unblocked under very specific situations.
  1. That they go through one of the training processes, either WP:TRAINING or WP:ADVENTURE.
  2. That they acknowledge the concerns about the photographs above, along with the other concerns.
  3. That they do not edit on any topic that would pertain to their business.
  4. With this topic ban in consideration, how would you positively edit Wikipedia?
I'll be very honest, I don't think that you can really neutrally edit any topic that you have a COI with and given the concerns over photoshop above, I don't think that any explanation would be able to completely satisfy any of us on here. Your only hope is to accept a topic ban on anything that would even remotely relate to your company - and even then you'd have to convince us that you would make positive edits.
