The picture is taken in the pier, what's wrong with it? Gordon, J. G. (talk) 17:16, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's a picture of a fan and it's too large. I don't believe it contributes to the page at all.--BarsofGold (talk) 17:18, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

So, where's the standing fan in the picture? I don't see it. Gordon, J. G. (talk) 17:21, 11 August 2014 (UTC)}Reply

What? You can clearly see it is a picture of a fan.--BarsofGold (talk) 17:24, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The picture is taken inside the pier. When you said fan, are you referring to standing fan? Gordon, J. G. (talk) 17:25, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well it looks like a fan on the ceiling to me.--BarsofGold (talk) 17:27, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's just a background, the picture is to show a vaulted ceiling. Gordon, J. G. (talk) 17:28, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

That may be but there is still the issue that the image is to large and doesn't really improve the page.--BarsofGold (talk) 17:34, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image could be shrunken. Gordon, J. G. (talk) 17:36, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

For info: I have indef. blocked User:Gordon J. G for block evasion. He's been posting this photo all over the place today.  —SMALLJIM  19:30, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I am very good thank you. --BarsofGold (talk) 04:33, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Do you like my edits? Vvvgcfff (talk) 04:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well that is a difficult question. Your edits all seem to be made in good faith but I don't dislike them.--BarsofGold (talk) 04:38, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

And did you like the picture I added? There weren't pictures of recessed light so I added one. Vvvgcfff (talk) 04:41, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Are you the person who keeps using multiple accounts to insert pictures of fans to articles?--BarsofGold (talk) 04:44, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ha, no! I'm very new here! I just couldn't take a clear picture of light. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vvvgcfff (talkcontribs) 04:46, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry but I am not at all convinced by that. I have already had to deal with about 4 of them and it's starting to annoy me.--BarsofGold (talk) 04:51, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Which users? Vvvgcfff (talk) 04:54, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well I can't remember all of their names but one of the accounts is listed above talk page section. All the accounts doing the similar behaviour as you all seemed to be operated by the same person.--BarsofGold (talk) 04:58, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Harry Mark Petrakis article

edit

Hello, BarsofGold, I hope you still work at Wikipedia...in my Harry Mark Petrakis article, there is a link to his official website (at the bottom). When one clicks on the link, one is taken to the official website = http://www.harrymarkpetrakis.com/. When one clicks on "MEDIA," there is a link to my Wikipedia article. THE LINK IS A DEAD LINK. It is a dead link because there needs to be a space after the "s" of "Petrakis." Can you add the space?Lambrini Papangelis (talk) 10:04, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Lambrini Papangelis here. I copied the Harry Mark Petrakis article from my Sandbox and pasted into the current Wikipedia article "Harry Mark Petrakis." Since that article was only one paragraph long, I figured mine was better. But now when I go to that article, all I find is the old, one-paragraph article. BarsofGold, I made a lot of changes. Is my work lost? Can you retrieve it for me? I mean the content I tried to replace the old article with. Is my work lost? Lambrini Papangelis (talk) 05:19, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I understand that you were trying to improve the article but your version needed a lot of cleaning up and could not be left there. If you want to see it again just look at the page history and click on difference between revisions.--BarsofGold (talk) 05:26, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

BarsofGold, the reason my article needed a lot of cleaning up is that when I tried to replace the old HMP article with it, all kinds of things disappeared! Like, for example, all the italics of the book titles. I had to put them back. It took a long time. I had to clean up other things, too, for instance adding about 100 line breaks. Please, BarsofGold: if I make my Sandbox copy perfect, will you mount it for me?Lambrini Papangelis (talk) 06:09, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have put a link on your talk page to something called the Teahouse. It is a place for new users to ask questions to experienced editors about how to edit. I recomend you seek advice there. Happy editing!--BarsofGold (talk) 10:00, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

BoG: If a new editor's work needs "cleaning up", please do so (as I have now done), instead of removing it, and doing so with no meaningful edit summary, nor talk page explanation until prompted. Please` think how your would feel, if your contributions to a new project were treated like that. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

NEW INFORMATION, 11:30 a.m. Central, OCT. 19, 2014 Dear Andy,

Harry Mark Petrakis's new (2014) autobiography has been published. It is titled "Song of My Life" and I have added numerous bibliographic citations from it to the "Harry Mark Petrakis" article. Please approve them. Thank you! Lambrini Papangelis ```` — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lambrini Papangelis (talkcontribs) 16:30, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi BarsofGold, thanks for warm welcome! I have a question regarding the creation of new WikiProjects. I've created a proposal regarding esports and I am convinced there are others who would like to contribute to this sort of project. However, the list of people who are actively involved in the discussion/voting process of the creation of new WikiProjects seems to be limited. I would like to know if there is a place to ask/recruit others who might be interested in the contributing to the creation/development of this WikiProject. The reason I'm asking you is because I wouldn't like to come off as rude by asking people in the wrong places. Would the talk page of WikiProject Video Games be an appropriate place? -- Solomonarius (talk) 06:10, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. It may take some time for people to notice new projects and join them. I think it would be a good idea to post your idea on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games to get some feedback from other users who edit gaming related articles.--BarsofGold (talk) 06:33, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your rollback request

edit

Hi BarsofGold, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism, spam and blatantly unconstructive edits; using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, as some admins do not warn if they become aware of any rollback misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, you should use a manual edit summary instead of the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to review Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 22:16, 18 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Halo 4

edit

Hey, just wondering if you're planning to do the review soon? I can put it on hold for longer if you need more time? I think all that needs addressing now are a few prose issues but the references are a slight larger problem. Anyway, please let me know! Regards Jaguar 21:50, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes I'm still going to work on it. I've just been having difficulties doing the references because I'm using a tablet. I may have to remove the dead links and re-add them when I get my computer back again. I don't think it needs to be put on hold for a longer time though.--BarsofGold (talk) 22:00, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
That's fine, I understand how awkward it can be using a tablet (or any touch screen really) for Wikipedia! Let me know if you need any more time at all. Jaguar 22:09, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey, just letting you know that I closed the GAN as I thought you were too busy to handle it. But don't worry, let me know as soon as you're ready again and I can speedily review it? All that needs addressing are the references and the prose in the lead - not a huge deal! Thanks, Jaguar 19:55, 24 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

March Madness 2017

edit

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

edit

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time.
