Map about the name of Italy

edit

Hi, I'm writing to you about the map that showed the progressive enlargement of the territory called Italia, which you removed from many articles because it was considered wrong. Following this edit, I found this other map: is this one correct? Hi, LukeWiller (talk) 12:27, 9 August 2024 (UTC).Reply

User:LukeWiller, unfortunately it's also wrong, I don't know why it starts with the territory between Sele and Lao when the first area should be in Calabria. And, since it's a map on the "territory named Italy", by c. 222 BC it should already show all of Italy up to the Alps, excluding the islands. It confuses Caesar giving Roman citizenship to Cisalpine Gaul with that part being considered geographically part of Italy, that is obviously not the case since a man who lived in the III-II century BC (Polybius) wrote that Hannibal crossed the Alps into Italy (which happened in 218 BC) and he explains very well the geography of Italy, saying it starts at the Alps. The same it's done by Cato, another man who lived already in the III-II century BC There seem to be a common original mistaken map from which these maps come from, it could be this one. An idea came to me: you could contact it:Progetto:Laboratorio grafico/Immagini da migliorare to have the map File:RomanItaly.png corrected, so we have at least one corrected one that can visually see the expansion of the territory called Italy. What do you think? LukeWiller (talk) 14:48, 11 August 2024 (UTC).Reply
User:LukeWiller, I will do it, or I even correct the map myself if I am able to. Barjimoa (talk) 15:20, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, but do you have time to do it soon? A lot of time has passed since you removed the map from the articles. LukeWiller (talk) 15:28, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The request to the lab I can do it today, the attempt at changing it myself I don't know, I have to see if I can do it. Barjimoa (talk) 15:32, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I did it and discussione emrged out it, let's see where this goes. Barjimoa (talk) 15:59, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks, and sorry for the delay in replying to you, as I don't have your talk in my watchlist, I didn't read the messages you wrote first. Thanks especially for the speed. LukeWiller (talk) 20:09, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, did you then write to the it:Progetto:Storia as they suggested ? In my opinion you should also write to the it:Progetto:Antica Roma. LukeWiller (talk) 22:32, 17 August 2024 (UTC).Reply
Done. Barjimoa (talk) 04:49, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Re: Olive Oil is a "Italian food"? Seriously?

edit

Ok, thanks for telling me, I didn't know. I had actually heard about this user who was blocked indefinitely, but I didn't know his precise modus operandi. LukeWiller (talk) 12:38, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'll point out the first suspicious user right away... :-) Try looking here and looking at his contributions. He subscribes to Wikipedia and immediately edits an article related to Italy, belittling Italy itself, claiming that "Il Fatto Quotidiano" is a blog: in reality it is an authoritative website. And among other things, the same content removal in recent days has already been done by an IP. Changing the subject, I'll also point out this edit about historical-geographical creation of "Italia". Thanks for the info, I think I can do my part on both issues in the coming hours.Barjimoa (talk) 16:36, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
User:LukeWiller, you were right, admin confirmed and blocked. Sometimes he is this obvious, other times it's more sophisticated, but we know his modus operandi, themes and the ranges in which he operates (46.Ip, 31.Ip, 37.Ip, 85.ip, 80.Ip, 90.Ip, 92.Ip, possibly others). Notice his typical gaslighting and accusation in a mirror. He says many users have a national bias, but he is the one with a clear national bias. He says sources are not good, but he has used bad ones or straight-up invented sources in the past (with quotes, pages and everything). He even accuses people of having socks when he has had hundreds and hundreds and sometimes pretends to be British, Portuguese or Italian. Barjimoa (talk) 00:18, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
