Orphaned non-free image File:MTHS Logo.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading File:MTHS Logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:56, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

EN Woodruff.jpg

edit

I notice you uploaded File:EN Woodruff.jpg. Do you happen to have a copy of the Talisman from 1939 handy? In order for Wikipedia to consider the image free, either the Talisman has to not have a copyright notice, or we have to establish that the copyright was not renewed. There are the two ways that pre-1978 works in the U.S. fall into public domain and can be used without permission: see Wikipedia:Public domain#Published works. (U.S. federal government works are always public domain also, but the school district isn't a federal agency.) I added {{PD-Pre1978}} to the file, but we need to make sure that's correct before long. --Closeapple (talk) 10:19, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've gone through the book and have found no such copyright notice that would disallow my scan of the image being uploaded here. --Ryan.harms (talk) 20:07 14 January 2010 (UTC)
